Well i got it yesterday ,and i say you got a piece of metal history right there ,yes its diffrent ,but how many times have they changed from one album to the other? ,many times and they always managed to please us the preists fan ,this time they did it again ,instead of turning in circles like many other bands they go forward,i v been a fan since 79/80 ,and by the looks of things i will be for a loooong time ,i just love what they did with the keyboards and syth guitars ,it also seems to me like they v put some songs that reminds you of almost every album s they did before and yet its diffrent ,i love it |

Well said!!!....this is exactly what happened with maiden when they played "A matter of life and death" in it's entirety....and people complain cause there's not enough of their classics....so now they're doing this show with their classic songs....and people complain cause there's nothing new.
This just confirms one of my little sayings:
"you can only please half the people at any one time.... so you might as well please the half that pleases yourself!" [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Turbo Lover from Tuesday, June 17, 2008 6:09:44 PM)

This CD is absolutely incredible, and it's only my first listen. This new direction is fresh and exciting. All five members demonstrate superior musicianship and writing on this CD. It is however disappointing to hear so may cry about the change. These are probably the same individuals that bitch about the same songs being played live, and when the band grows and tries something new bitch again. The band is getting older and we will probably only have this CD and tour and maybe one more go around before they call it a career. Enjoy it while it lasts as there are by far the greatest band ever and have always tried to pave the way with experiments and sounds. Hopefully a few more listens and they will begin to enjoy this record and realize what Priest have accomplished. This CD ranks right behind Sad Wings and Ram It Down for Priest's best record!! Congratulations to the band on their efforts. You have created an masterpiece and should be extremely proud!!! Edited at: Tuesday, June 17, 2008 6:16:09 PM |

I love this album, I don't even know how many times I've listened to it today. I am in awe of Robs new vocal style. It doesn't have to many of those high pitched screams of might that were used to, but his new style is so oprahtic. And then the musical portion of it, I say kudos to Glenn, K.K., Ian, and Scott. It really shows the bands maturity, and how they've grown as musicians. I love how each song gives off a different effect, weather its the very doom sounding (for lack of a better term) War, through the transition from Sands of Time into Pestilence and Plague which I thought sounded incredible, to the song Alone which gives me chills every time I listen to it, up to the fast paced Nostradamus, I have to say that this is a masterpiece. It has some of the older priest elements, like Visions reminds me of 80's priest, Nostradamus reminds me of the Painkiller days. I think the album in a way goes through there career musically. It starts off slow and then for me really comes out in the song Pestilence and Plague, reminding me of how British Steel put them on the map. And then eventually get to Nostradamus, which like I said before was like painkiller up through Angel of Retribution. Than of course is the Future of Mankind, well I guess I'll have to wait for that one. This is my view on the new album, fantastic job guys, couldn't be more impressed. |

Alright! I have the album and I must say it is quite impressive and listening just to the first two track on it it makes one be in awe of its atmosphere. I like a different approach to a genre every so often and this is an excellent album put out by Judas Priest. It reminds me if Epica's Divine Conspiracy album was melded with Judas Priest's Sad Wings of Destiny album and it is just mindblowing in some parts. I need to listen to it some more to really let it grow on me and pick out my favorites. Plus I got the full box set at Best Buy and is an awesome collector's edition. What does everyone else think so far? I'll be off to work but will be back on when I get home. Talk to everyone in a little bit! Edited at: Tuesday, June 17, 2008 5:12:17 PM |

A fantastic album, one of Priest's best albums. It's definetly up there with AOR, Painkiller and Sad Wings. Speaking of Sad Wings, I must say that a lot of the songs on this album do remind me of that album. It's probably to do with the tempo. In short this album is a masterpiece. Rob's vocals are epic, especially on Exiled, Pestilence and Plague and Death. Glenn and KK's guitar work is as good as ever, they are fantastic at making even the slow songs sound quite heavy. Ian has finally had a chance to shine! The bass is very prominent in a lot of the songs and it's fantastic as I think that Ian has taken the back seat for too long! Scott's drumming is top notch as always, especially, of course, on the title track. Using interludes and preludes was a fantastic idea. It makes the whole album flow and on mnay occasions it sent shivers down my spine especially when Shadows in The Flame links to Visions and when The Four Horsemen links to War.
Before I got the album (I refused to listen to it online :P) I had read quite a few negative reviews of the album, but I think that Nostradamus' critics have been proven wrong! This album is a triumph and is at least Priest's 3rd best album (I still can't decide what order AOR, Nostradamus and Sad Wings should be in lol) WELL DONE JUDAS PRIEST ON AN OUTSTANDING ALBUM AND A FANTASTIC SHOW AT DOWNLOAD 2008! Honstly, this album nears perfection. It's definately better than Angel Of Retribution, and IMO has got to be in the top all time great Priest albums. The word 'epic' doesnt come close, it's just so grand and majestic. The guitars are used to maximum effect, Rob's lyrics and vocal delivery excellently front the music, and the keyboards, which could easily have messed the record up, are excellently used to enhance the songs without feeling cheesy.
In short: IT RULES!!!! |

This album is pure perfection. EVERY band member cranked it up this time, those raspy notes, and higher pitched, along with opera singing...from Rob, with KK's aggressive shredding and wailing guitar, Glenn topping guitaring off with his melodic soulful sound, Ian's bass more prominent this time...thundering hard, and Scott's drums sledgehammering better than ever ranging from cool grooviness to intense double bass assault. I just may decide to get my $42 worth, that I paid for the deluxe Nostradamus CD, 2 cents worth of bitching at a time. I have been a fan since 1986. I own, and love every album, from Rocka Rolla through Angel of Retribution. Excluding the ones with Tim Owens singing (that was never JP to me). Plus T-shirts, a clock, posters, concert tickets, tour book, and other memorebelia...so I've supported the band as the fan I am should. I certainly have a right to my opinion, and will share it when, and where I feel, if you don't like what I have to say...ignore me.
Now you owe me $10. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Diamond Jim from Saturday, June 14, 2008 11:51:54 AM) |

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one J-I-R. I feel let down by Nostradamus. I've already preordered the deluxe edition, and I fear it will become a dust collector in my collection, but in my collection it will be. Dude grab a copy of Sad Wings Of Destiny, and say that...I dare ya!
"and his lower range rasp is much more prominent on this album."
Rob's mid to low ranged vocals are all he has left, and that rasp in his voice is age dude!
I'm blown away at the praise he's getting for sounding old! LMFAO
If Nostradamus is the best they can put out...then they need to retire IMO!
Go listen to Alice Cooper, or Heart...they sound the same after all these years, or better stilll...listen to Turbo for synthesized Judas Priest that kicks ass better than Nostradamus!

I just listened to the CD. There's some gold stuff on there. Very diverse in style, including synthesised guitars, symphony, choir, accoustic guitars, synthesiser guitars, asides the normal guitars. Music quality is superb and mindblowing, a very powerful sounding record. Rob's vocals are some of the best I have heard and his lower range rasp is much more prominent on this album. The drums are heavy and perfect, again showing diversity from groovy simple beats, to technical and double bass. Favourite songs include Dawn Of Creation / Prophecy, Awakening / Revelations, The Four Horsemen / War, Death, Peace / Conquest, Persecution, Shadows In The Flame / Visions, Calm Before The Storm / Nostradamus so far. With that said, in loving 8/14 tracks at first proper listen of the album, this is set to be one of their best albums. Very epic, my respect for Judas Priest has only grown, for their effort to do something very new, fresh, something off their typical style and yet so right for such a band to tackle. To hear them play the entire album live next year will be killer. Edited at: Friday, June 13, 2008 9:25:35 PM |
