A lot of that was fluctuations in the exchange rate. then from the late 90's to the mid 00's it was the other way, stuff here was comparitivly cheaper. we exported a ton of cars, now, we import from the US.
but, damn we pay a lot of taxes for our socialized medicare. I actualy think that today is the day i have paid all my taxes and get to keep the rest that I earn.
when does that happen in the states?

BTW, a buddy of mine just got back from a tour in Iraq and while he said things are improving there (improving being a relative term), Afghanistan remains relatively FUBAR by comparison, did not realize things were as bad as they apparently are over there.......but that is a subject for another time.....

I think my mom is pretty tolerant to it, but she wouldn't hear it on a daily basis. She allows me to listen to what I like, as long as I do well in school. I only showed her Nostradamus CD because she knew about the prophet and thought he was very wise. If anything, she made fun of one of the songs.
As far as having something in common with your son at that level, I think its great!! The more you have in common with your son the more you two can bond, IMO.

Is Vaillant suffering from lady trouble? If so, I feel for ya bro, 2 failed marriages under my belt and at 40 it isn't exactly getting easier to find Miss Right. Had a fantastic date with a great gal about 2 weeks ago, one of the best dates I think I've ever had, was really crazy about her but she let me know on no uncertain terms she didn't have those kind of feelings for me. Don't worry about Dokken. I have found in the metal world you either love 'em or hate 'em. I will say for the record that out of all the "hair bands" (Poison, Warrant, etc.), I found Dokken to be more concerned with the actual music they were playing and not how much lipstick and hairspray you had on. |

Vaillant already knows my story of Priest with Don Dokken opening that I caught on the Painkiller tour in Alaska in 1991. I think Priest/Ryche 3 years ago is about the closest one to that. Another spectacular concert.

True it was Don's baby, but Don got his deal in Germany and had to actually get a talented band to keep it. He really should have been more open to the band's input as Don's ideas got pretty dated quick.

Geoff Tate was always my 2nd favorite heavy metal vocalist for that very reason. That's why see Queensryche open for Judas Priest last tour was soooooo special to me.

Maybe it's one of those things where she saw the seriousness of it, and threw out some sarcasm. Try to look at it that way, and see if it that's not what it was. Then maybe you can appreciate it better, and share more. That can be frustrating. I had a similar experience when I tried to share Queensryche's "Operation Mindcrime" with my parents. They called it "subversive counter culture paranoia". On the latter part of your post Vail. Yes, that's what my life/relationship w/my son's been all about. Connecting on a level that's relevant to both of us. Well...keep in mind...she's the mother of 10. Me being the youngest, and most being of the "hippie generation". She's heard Ozzy from Black Sabbath thru his solo career, and still can't understand his singing. Plus the music's too fast, & loud for her taste....but that day she "got it".

I certainly can see that point, but I want (as any good parent should) him to be better than me. I just don't push as some parents do...and I feel when pushed too far it becomes a rebellion on the part of the kid. Thus undermining the intention of the parent.

Yup.
We haven't had any problems yet here in Bell Gardens. There's A/C in the house but its rarely used. We have ceiling fans instead.

I laughed too until it aired at 8 pm. The power came on about 2 minutes after and a DWP truck came to the house to make sure we had power. I guess the pen is indeed mightier than the sword.

That was cool!!! I shared my Nostradamus CD with my mom on the car today on the way to the store. She heard the 1st CD, from Dawn of Creation to War. She seems to have liked it!! She didn't give me her opinion, though.

Right now with the dollar being as low as it is, European travel is just very expensive. My Ex takes my daughter to Greece each year and half the time his family has to pay half of the cost because he can not afford it each year and he earns a middle class wage.

None of my family in the states helped me with me child so it was the first break from parenthood I ever had. It used to be about mid 80's all summer but with the change in the weather we see alot of 90 and above days now and not much goes on in the winter like it used to.

I had a really cheap friend who did the same thing only she only brought some sample bottles with her and she was white as snow.
She looked like a swirly artwork at the end of the day, and she got her oversized bathing suit she bought because it was on sale hung on the deck cleat when she jumped in the water. | Hmm, I got my Nostradamus.... the booklet seems to be just the lyrics and couple of pages about the album. In that case, my digipak of AOR had a 'booklet' too because it had the lyrics... and my remastered CDs of Megadeth, which also have something about the album too... sure sure, they don't have hard bound book, but I was still a bit dissapointed... + digipaks aren't very handy, those CDs just fall from them so easily. But okay, I gotta listen to the album first before I say anything about the music itself. Looking forward to it... Right now I have to listen to my Vinnie Moore record though. It is a bit of a dissapointment though. Not as good as the previous one and not as good as the next one. |

Listening to Pestilence and Plague right now. I really dig the new stuff so far. The guitar work of KK and Glen has taken on a new level IMO. Great interplay and harmonies.

Yeah, the facility was beautiful, they cleaned the little dog, made her feel all soft and laid her our in a blanket to say good-byes. She was creamated, and you watched them put her in the creamtion oven (not the actual process of course!). I was more comforting than I originally thought-I'm not good at any kind of funeral! But my friend needed me there, and I loved her little dog-she was my rent a dog and i took on vacations and everything. So regardless I would have been there!
I'm also glad my boss was understanding of me using my personal day for this-he siad he loved his cats more than his wife, LMAO. Too much information!

Hey JerZgirl.. That sounds touching.. the dog funeral. It is so hard to part with a loved one.. furry or not! I miss my dog sasha she has been gone over 5 years. And I love my 3 year old chocolate lab , that I have now. I spoil them all!!! Why have them, if you are not going to love and spoil them.. Same goes for the boyfriend! LOL

I got nostradamus in the mail last night-listened to it like 3 times already. Love It.
We had some wicked T-storms here, and it rains every day. Blech.

YESTERDAY I SAW THESE GUYS IN OSTRAVA, CZECH REPUBLIC!
Wow, they are still awsome, I love them all! They have changed their playlist a bit, which is cool I think. But the two last songs are as usual, which is cool too :-).
It was a fun when Rob, having finished his "uou uou uooouyeeeah" with the audience, introduced the next song: The Greeeeen Monalisshiiiii, with the Another Thing Comiiiiing!! It was really cool when KK was shouting to Rob, hey, dude, we just have played that!! But Rob was so self-possessed that hardly anyone recognized something (especially Czech audience).
I will probably come to Liberec on July 3!! Keep the faith!

I've got "Visions" playing on the phones right now. Still trying to decide which songs I like the best. Nifty little book that came along with this package. Here I am, a closet history geek, reading history courtesy of my favorite heavy metal band......whoodathunk???
What really impresses me is the acoustic depth of KK and Glenn's guitar work.....haven't worked out the hows, whats and wheres, but MAN there are some cool riffs going on on this thing. Will probably take me another 25 listens or so to really get a feel for all of this.
This is definitely different territory for Priest, and I am sure the haters will slam it just like they did with Point of Entry or Turbo but ya know what???
The bottom line is.......it's still JUDAS FUCKING PRIEST
and they will ROCK FOR FUCKING EVER!!!!! (in my not so humble point of view)
I like the "Death" song. Nice and sinister. Worthy of Alice Cooper. Very metal. |
