Another Jim Breur video I took @ ROTR. "Heavy Metal Man". The fella's in their forties should get a kick out of this. It's comedy but this is pretty heavy. I think it almost has a Priest feel to it.

Yes! his solos are priest like, one of the things I was afraid of that it would be missed on this new album. But the two new tunes shows that the priest sound is intact and I have already pre-ordered the new album on both CD and Vinyl and can't wait for them.

HF should be working on a new album this year, yet when this new Priest album comes out they will be drooling over it ,pumping it and forget about thier new album ha.

Man I can't freakin wait till Redeemer Of Souls is released,11 more tracks to listen too and 5 more bonus songs too...we are very lucky to have JP in 2014....hail to Richie Faulkner!!!

His solos sound so Priest like, but not like Downings .....just a true fit for this band its utterly amazing how perfect he fits in Judas Priest.

Pipen...no your absolutely right,Hammerfall out of SEVERAL british styled traditional heavy metal bands seems to be the only band that sounds like 1980's heavy metal : 80's Judas Priest(70's too) ,80's Iron Maiden,80's Dio (Holy Diver/Last In Line)
stuff like this shows up in thier material but never a rip off, just a homage ect....

They are not for you,and most heavy metal fans
but like I said for me,I've studied traditional heavy metal and TONS of bands these last ...about 7 years or so now...and HF imo is the very best...not just because they dound 80's,but because of how GREAT and AWSOME thier songs and albums are man. Sure they have one or two songs here and there that I dont like, but not many. Dont like thier ballads ect...but yeah they fuckin kick ass.Joacim Cans is one KICK ASS original vocslist.

J.D.  I also see them as HM, ( Never heard of Death Dealer so them aside) but with a more modern touch and style, HammerFall imo are more traditional eighties, in my eras at least. :) so that's what I ment with last standing .....
But that is an highly subjective opinion  of course . :)

Pipen, actually Hammerfall isnt the only band left thst is british styled traditional with thier own style .....Primal Fear....Iced Earth....Death Dealer....there are a few more that I can't think of....but they are just not my style, but they are good bands though...

They all play a Painkiller/Jugulator style of Priest's influence in them ....so yeah they are all good bands but just not for me thats all ...

Hammerfall's Priest influences that show up in thier music comes from 70's and mostly 80's Judas Priest songs. HF would of fit well if they came out in 1982. They have 8 studio lps from 1997 -2011 and for me personally I love thier first 7 albums.
They last one sucks heavily imo.

Definately not pushing Hammerfall on anyone, but to me...out of tons of bands I've heard....HF carries the traditional 80's banner with sound and image aesthetics and most importantly thier songs.

I can  agree with that, HammerFall might be the last standing traditional heavy metal band even though I haven't fallen for them so much.
They are ok but that's about it.

I love the Painkiller album, not just "like" it...I see why most Priest fans starve for this level of heavy metal cause it IS heavy metal at its all time heaviness....Im all for Priest making a record not that sounds like PK but as heavy sure....but at the same time if they want to write classic 80's stuff then Im game with that.

Wait untill we hear the opener "Dragonaut"....I'm sure it will kick our asses.....
[Brian_Evans] Tuesday, May 20, 2014 10:35:11 AM
No, I figured you at least had to "like" the Painkiller album since you're into way heavier stuff than Priest.

Thank you so much for sharing this!! I LOVED it. His Brian Johnson impersonation had me cracking up, he was DEAD ON!!  I loved how he had to "get a breath and grab his nuts" to do the Halford scream which was pretty damn good and I can picture Rob doing it just like that! Looks like a BLAST at ROTR!!

I'm hoping all the regulars here will watch this. It's funny as hell. Jim Breur doing a children's classic "Bingo" metal style. Each letter he impersonates a different singer. Ozzy, Halford, Hetfield, etc. You guys will love his Halford.

The weather sucked but it was probably my favorite as far as band sets go. I watched 26 bands and only 3 of them i wasn't into. Saw a couple of new bands I'll be checking out. (Avatar and Gojira.) Some surprises. The Pretty Reckless was probably my biggest. She was awesome. Loved Jim Breur's set. Gemini Syndrome (the band that hit my wife in the head with a drumstick). I loved them. They have to be my favorite new band right now. Check them out you may be suprised. Lastly, if you are even remotely interested you must go next year just to experience it. I've been to 260+ shows since 78 and ROTR is by far the craziest and funnest shows I've been to.

Oh COOL!! I can't wait to see/hear it! I love Metal Mike - he's a great guitarist and a great guy!! How was ROTR? We almost went but couldn't make it work.

Pipen, about Nostradamus....no,its not a top Priest album for me however,I do like half the album....I've just never said so because I wanted a text book heavy metal album...I am not very fond of half of Nostradamus, but thats just how my ears and style heard it. It is a masterpiece of excellence, but just something I for whatever reason cant seem to harness its magic. But Im well aware of how epic and how versitile it is.

Accept....yeah man, even though I dont rave about them they are classic true traditional heavy metal yes,and thier new albums are just as classic and if not heavier then that of 80's Accept, just a classic heavy metal band all the way around, much heavier than Saxon by style and piurpose ect....

I meant when all bands that are old and oldschool from the 80's like Sabbath,Ozzy,Priest,Maiden,Saxon,Accept....the day the last one retires then in my opinion Hammerfall will definately be the number #1 current classic traditional styled heavy metal band.
[Budred] Monday, May 19, 2014 5:37:41 PM

Thanks for answering HRMG. I'm glad you posted because I'm hoping you see this. I went to ROTR in Columbus this weekend. Jim Breur was there with a band and Metal Mike was his guitar player. They did a metal version of the children's song "Bingo". Jim did a different metal "voice" for each letter. Ozzy for B and Halford for I (?) etc.. I couldn't help but think of you because of Metal Mike.. I took a video that i'll post here because I'm sure some will get a kick out of it. It's funny as hell.

J.D. Diamond:  I agree whit you in almost everything you say about Priest, but I do like Nostradamus and if I remember it correctly you don't. :)
Saxon is one of my top favorite band also and they still deliver both live and in the studio, Maiden is also great band but since No Prayer they haven't came out with a decent song imo. But up till then they are pretty solid, even if the downfall begins whit No Prayer that one at least have moments and I rate that album to be an 3 out of 5 at least.
But my nr. 2 band is definitely not HammerFall, Accept is! Wolfs guitar playing and Udos unique voice on top of that is just magic to me!
And even though I hated the fact that they where starting up again without Udo they certainly proved me wrong in the end, Mark does an incredible job. I usually  have a hard time to accept  change of a lead singer in a band but this was an exception that broke the rule, haha!

Judas Priest has and will probably always be nr. 1 to me, Accept is the the only band so far that I almost like equally much but Priests strength is that they can deliver with variation from Sad Wings to Painkiller, Accept is more of an one way road so to say. But which band who comes third changes from day to day, week to week and so on. :)
