Thanks DC. She got up a few minutes ago,  came out, got a drink, gave me a kiss, and went right back to sleep with Flora! She is everything I hoped she would be. Now, just got to fatten the kid up some!

Awwwwww. pretty puppy!!... Give her a big hug for me.. Little cutie,  The kitten my brother bought from the animal shelter was really skinny, a week later and she had a little round tummy on her. It's always rewarding seeing that your love and attention makes a difference to their health. Best of luck with Lucy!

I probably wont have to worry about this little love going into cluster seizures and never recovering. All she needs is love and food. She up and eating right now, drinking water like it was something she's been deprived. I would imagine I am in for a huge explosion tonight. He little body wont be used to this kind of nutrition! Good think I've got the Lysol at the ready! LOL

[spapad] Friday, March 13, 2009 7:16:51 PM

This is my new little angel! We have decided to name her Lucy.
Lucy is a rescue doggie and she has alot of cage wounds on her now, and is underfeed, but she has the heart of a lion and is really incredible. She has the best manners in a car I have ever seen, she has somewhat got some confusion with exactly when to ask to go outside, but I'm sure she will catch on quickly.
She is very smart and has already learned her name. Don't let the picture fool you, she does not cower! She just doesn't like the flash of a camera!
I love her already and it hasn't been but a couple hours! She just had a bath too,....she kinda stank really bad!

[blackshadow] Wednesday, March 11, 2009 1:53:27 PM
We've got what I can only describe as a small zoo starting. I was away visiting a very good friend for a week and got home to find my mother has bought a new kitten. She's pitch black in colour, can't be much older than six weeks old (she's so tiny it's too cute) and her name is Pepsi. Pictures will hopefully follow.

I have one 8 month old girl American bulldog who's name is Scully and two  5 years old tom cats Tiger n' Tyson if anyone wants to know.
[Wildheart] Thursday, March 05, 2009 6:26:40 AM
Right now we (my husband and I) have a jack russel terrier, Lemmy, wich is 18 months.
We´re thinking of getting one more dog later on.
[spapad] Sunday, March 01, 2009 9:17:49 PM
Oh do be a good friend and tie me to the bumper of a car to have me drug a few miles.  This winter is killing me. I need to get out and walk!

Certainly does not "bore" but can tend to irritate! Sadly, as Calvin obeys better (ha...he is now the GOOD dog), he gets the "timeout."

Ok, off to get those damn miles out of the way. CYA laters.

Sounds like a friendly competition, and one that will never bore you over the years! LOL
I had a Husky many years ago and when she was little she would run behind the couch, but there was a piece of door trim on the other side and she couldn't fit. So she would bark till I got up and moved the couch out. No sooner than I would put it back she would do the same thing again. So I got smart and left the couch pulled out several inches to aviod this, she still went behind the couch and barked because it was "her game"!

Not really. Calvin is just SUCH a sweetheart that he lets her get away with murder. I give both a bone and she takes his. He goes for hers and she takes that one. She grabs something Calvin REALLY wants and Calvin could take it easily and she knows it so heads under my bed (where there are more dogtoys than anything else). Barking fight ensues as he can't fit.

However, in an open fight she goes for his legs while he can just full-on roll her. After all, he has her by 20 lbs. He merely flops on her and she has no fight other than scratching (hmm....reminds me of old girlfriends...but I digress...LOL!).

Gracias. Los dos son, esencialmente, lo que llamaría en portugués "viralatas." (good word for you non-portuguese speakers....virar= flip over; lata=cans. A dog who is "viralata" is a mutt! Out flipping over cans in an alleyway, etc.)

Calvin = beagle / birddog (mezcla)
Nina (short for "menina") = rat terrier

Calvin es el grande...

Just to set the record straight...the SHOES are worth [ed correction...let's rephrase it to COST]  far more than the dogs.

Two things they don't mess with: my running shoes and my birds. Oh yeah...and my guitars. Puppy Nina chewed up the foam on one of my stands. Glad she got out of that phase or we would have had trouble!   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by spapad from Sunday, March 01, 2009 1:44:01 PM)

That's why Flora and I used to put our shoes on the table beside the door, because Bella used to destroy them if they were left in the floor, not to mention atacking the shoes while they were still on your feet. Ah, she was very entertaining!

Aww you're such a sweetheart Adriana!!

I'm happy to report that Yuda is a miracle kitten. The little guy is getting stronger day by day. Here's a pic of him walking around. As you can see he's still got the kink in his back but he's roaming the house and is going for very supervised visits outside. We still have to separate him and Derek because being a puppy himself, Derek is over enthusiastic and doesn't understand why he can't play rough with his mate.

The vet said 8 - 9 months recovery but if you could see how fast this little guy is coming along, I'd say in half that time he probably wont even have a limp!

He's managing to jump up onto the couch now and make the full jump. When he first started to try, he had enough power in his back legs to spring up but then they would sag and he'd hit the couch if I wasn't there to help him. Tonight is officially the first time he jumped up and made it all the way on his own. Also this morning, when  I was getting the kids ready for school, I found him on my bed. So I asked Craig if he put him up there and he said 'No, he just climbed up by himself'. Bare in mind that it's only 2.5 weeks since the accident and he had a very bad diagnosis from the vet. And they tell us that miracles don't happen?

I think not!

Thanks ... I'll give Snickers a cuddle for y'all.  "She" really likes 'em, almost as much as she likes chasing that little green ball ; )

Just like runny peanut butter.... It's just wrong! Mmm was thinking of having a Tuna sandwich, might have Vegemite instead.

Marmite (and vegemite I guess haha) should NOT have the consistency of toffee, it goes against the laws of the universe!
[devils_child] Sunday, February 15, 2009 8:29:44 PM
Ewwww!!!! I took a jar of Vegemite with me when i went to Europe, now way would i leave home without it

LOL I think marmite is much more a kiwi thing and vegemite an aussie thing. I've always preferred marmite lol. Mind you we had marmite in Scotland and something must have gone wrong with the batch cos it had the consistency of toffee, now that was pretty yuck haha.
[devils_child] Sunday, February 15, 2009 8:18:21 PM
Vegemite is wayyyy better than Marmite.... I can't stand that crap... ewwwww - Vegemite rules the land

And yes Guido.... Don't try Vegemite till you have an Aussie to spread it for you... that goes for anyone who's never tried it.
[spapad] Sunday, February 15, 2009 8:08:32 PM
My knowledge of that stuff is not from Men At Work, it's from Aussies themselves that say it is an aquired taste and tourists have never had much good to say about it either.

Alligator, snake, ostrich. YUMMMMM!!! Tried 'em all.

Marmite still sounds like a precious stone, though. Only reason any common american knows of vegemite is because of the Men Down Under. Same as anyone here knows about poi. Fred Flintstone and his flubbed line. "Please pass the poi!"   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by spapad from Sunday, February 15, 2009 7:54:27 PM)

In other words, be afraid, be very afraid! Vegemite, Marmite. Sound scary.  I have eaten alot of stuff up to and including Aligator, snake, skate, and yes ostrich as well, (which was really good) but no can do on the Vegimite, Marmite.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Becks from Sunday, February 15, 2009 7:20:33 PM)

How beautiful, Becks! REALLY pretty, the three of them. Amazingly so, in fact.

Now what the heck is marmite? I know onyx, obsidian, want to have an oz citizen spread vegemite on...er, I mean FOR me but that is a new one.

When we adopted him we got told he is a huntaway border collie x, but he is much larger than either of those breeds. Overall we think he has german shepherd in him too, but he does look similar to a queensland too!
[spapad] Sunday, February 15, 2009 7:09:49 PM
Does Buddy have Queensland in him? His expression reminds  me of both my past babies, both Queensland blue heelers.
