No wories, I won`t be getting above 10,000 feet for a few years yet. So icing won`t be an issue. It can occur at lower altitudes, as early as 4k, but conditions would probably prevent being up at that time.
Getting all my supplies together, books , binders etc, man I`m going to have to get a two wheeled dollie to carry all this every week!!! getting excited though, start next Tuesday.   I`ll get some pics up as I can!
Here`s something you might enjoy, I`m using it for inspiration

Hey, GD, just read the entire transcript of what happened in the AirFrance (from Brazil) crash. Read up so this'll never happen to you!

OK, final word on the situation with my childhhod friend. She did come over Saturday night, her and wife hit it off very well. No sense of tension at all. They made plans to go to dinner together soon and now have each others cell numbers.  Great evening overall!   I appreciate and understand the concern that was voiced, but all is good.

OK, enough of this, lets get back to the subject matter, Something making you super happy?
[guitardude] Friday, June 29, 2012 2:32:29 PM
Wouldn`t say she`s an old flame, I had the crush on her as a teenager, we are 46 now, I did not know she had a crush on me as well until just over a week ago!
And, my wife has been out with two of her old flames, one former husband and one old boyfriend.
If either of us are not happy at home, either of us are free to leave at anytime. This was the subject of a very deep conversation between us a long time ago and we agreed that whichever one that decides they want out, it`s that person that packs up and leaves. we`re about to hit the 15 year mark, so I think we`re good.
And to really cement the no worry clause here, my friend, Julie, is coming to the house this weekend to meet her. I have no doubt they will get along fine.
like I had said originally, I am treading lightly , I have a lot to lose and do not want to lose it. And we have two amazing boys.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by METALMANJP from Friday, June 29, 2012 7:59:22 AM)

Yea bro, think if the tables were turned, your wife has an old flame show up and meets him for a few drinks. You should probably stop it now before it gets out of control. Especially if you have children. The half hour of pleasure could have a lifetime of regret. Just my opinion.

[guitardude] Thursday, June 28, 2012 5:33:07 PM
While this is a difficult situation, I am aware of what it could turn into.  I never stay out late (since I work nights anyway), so shuffling off to a hotel is not an option, I have only seen her during the week, usually leave and go straight to work. I have to be there at 11 PM. and I can`t miss or be late as I am a supervisor. I always have told my wife where we`ll be, which is only a few minutes from our house.
There has been a stir of old emotions, but nothing more than a casual hug before we part. I have a lot to lose and I realize that and I am not willing to give those things up for an affair. We have always been on opposite sides of the table and just talk about the old days and what has been up since then. No in-appropriate conversation.
Besides I am not the cheating type of person. Happened to me while I was in the Army, memory keeps me from causing that kind of grief again recaling how I felt back then.
But yea, I`m also a cash guy!

Dude, you are so setting yourself up for disaster and I'm not talking about your flying plans.
How much do you love your wife?  It's pretty obvious from your comments that there will me
more than just friendship involved. You had a major crush on her. You're meeting her for drinks.
When you rent that room don't use your credit card. That will be your wife's first piece of evidence
in divorce court. It's your life, do your thing, but try to remember why you married your wife and do
you want to stay married to her?
Good luck!

Thanks gang, but it will be a slow process, as I mentioned. And that is just for the basic pilots license, there is a ton of other certifications to get to really be able to enjoy flying. But it is only a matter of studying then passing the testing.
As for my friend, we have hung out three times now just for dinner an drinks. The wife has voiced concern since I am not trying to hide anything from her. I have assured her that she has nothing to be concerned with. Now, if I can only convince myself of that!!!!

OK, here is what I asm working out.
Always the thrill seeker, motorcyling is amazing for me, but I decided I want more. My oldest son is  in the Civil Air Patrol (google if you`re curious)  I finally joined as a senoir member.
Time will be tight, but I`ll be learning to fly!   Now I will be on a two year schedule, so it will be a slow process for sure. Buying a plane is a financial impossibility. BUT,I have two co-workers that have been renting a plane to maintain their hours, we`ve talked and may go in and split the cost three ways at a later date.  But their is a lot still pending on that one.
Now the day I decided to do all this, another blessing of sorts came my way, an old childhood friend found me, we grew up together as neighbors from age 7. this made me very happy as well as I had a huge crush on her during our teens, and she still looks amazing!  Can`t say the same for myself, but being back in contact with her has opened up some fond old memories!       Plus, she only lives 3 miles away!   And yes, I`ll be treading lightly.
There you go!!

A fine answer! 100%!!
(I would only have used the analogy of a TIFF file vs. JPG instead of the VERY dated bitmap. Lossless, true, but dated. Man, are we nerds! )

@Becks. Of course it was a labor of love! Hey, it was Priest!

Now I have something that makes me even happier than last night....NEW HALFORD STUFF! Big, happy box with shirts, Fight remasters / dvd, ("Into the Pit") and the Live in London promo! Hurrah!!

[Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Nupe The Ripper from Saturday, June 16, 2012 6:48:11 AM)
[Nupe The Ripper] Saturday, June 16, 2012 6:48:11 AM
That means a lossless audio rip. MP3, WMA etc. are "lossy" formats, i.e. some of the audio data (usually high frequencies, which are harder to hear) is lost when the tracks are compressed to those formats. WAV, which is essentially what is found on commercial CDs, has no loss of data ("lossless") but is huge in size: a typical music track can easily take over 40MB of space. The DVD equivalent for this is LPCM, which is also the format found on Live Vengeance '82.

FLAC, then, is a compression format which reduces the size of WAV tracks without causing any loss of audio data, and when decompressed the audio quality is just as good as in the original lossless source. Of course, the size is still much bigger than lossy compresed tracks, but it's only about 60-70% of the uncompressed source.

You could compare this to different image formats. WAV would be the equivalent to BMP: no loss of data and looks good (if used as the original format), but huge in file size. MP3/WMA would be the equivalent of JPG: doesn't look as good as the original but the file size is small. And FLAC would be the equivalent of PNG: looks just as good as the original BMP, but the file size is smaller (but still bigger than the equivalent JPG).

Oooh sounds nifty, and like it was a real labour of love! One question, what is a 'flac' rip?

YEAH! After a number of days trying to get a perfect "flac" rip of the JP DVD 1982 Live Vengeance, I got it! Perfect audio gapless rip. A big thanks to the person who got me started on the project. Long hours but I couldn't be happier with the final product. I'll share with friends. Send me a PM.
In my ears as I type!

I can understand why a metal fan would/should cheer for the Devils. But I think I'd rather cheer for the Sharks or for the Blackhawks if they made it to the finals. Cooler team names. Plus the Kings have black and grey home uniforms. Much cooler colors.

As for punching Brown in the face, I think you'll have a more productive moment kicking him in the balls...unless you want whatever remains of his teeth, of course.

I agree Guido - RED WINGS all the way!! Next year, the cup is going to live in Detroit..... AGAIN! I am happy for the Kings though, winning their first Stanley Cup. And Matt Greene is from Grand Ledge, MI and is going to bring the cup here!! Maybe this time I'll actually get near it (unlike when it came to the Capital or any other time the Wings won it).

Ah well, they played well, and are all deserving, except brown who deserves a punch in the face.

Had a great time driving for Ripper Owens and his band yesterday and this morning. We were on a pretty tight schedule so not a huge amount of time to sit around talking but did manage to chat to Ripper a bit which was cool. There were a few issues with one of the guitars at the gig which the band found a little frustrating. Glitches aside it was a great show and the audience loved it. Ripper can seriously scream!!! Highlights in the set for me were Victim Of Changes, Scream Machine, Heart Of A Killer, Grinder, Stand Up And Shout and Heaven And Hell. Also Ripper does an awesome rendition of Painkiller. I ended up filming some of the gig for the band for which they gave me cds of Jugulator, Demolition, 98 Live Meltdown and a gig poster, all of which Ripper signed which was wicked.

Took a couple of photos on my cell phone so if anyone wants to check them out they are on the Metal Meltdown facebook page, here is the link

So Ripper Owens is playing in Wellington this Friday and on Monday my friend texts me saying I have a job that you might be very interested in. I rang him up and he is friends with the promoter of the show and he needs someone to drive Ripper and his band around while they are here. Said I was interested and the promoter got in touch with me today with the itinerary. So at lunch time on Friday I'm picking Ripper Owens and his band up at the airport and driving them around for 24 hours. Pretty sweet deal, free tix to the show, hang with the band. Can't wait.
