Hello!
I've got a question about the Back on Black re-releases of Priest.
Are they just available over www.plastichead.com mailorder or are they going to release them also in stores worldwide?
Thanks for an answer, I'm from Austria ( that's the reason for my question). |

Hellrider and a few others (including myself) are the only ones doing that right now whereas others might aswell be saying, 'the next album Priest release will be shit', that doesn't sound like the optimism or comment of Priest fans that i know. I'm actually growing tired of seeing their 'loyal fans' turn against them in their most difficult time cause soon all classic metal bands will be finished (lets be honest). Fair enough you don't like the new music you've expressed your point and that's fine but going on and on isn't going to make things better. Can we not get back to looking to the future and being optimistic that Priest will release some good old British Steel yet again hmmm? Am i asking too much everyone? They may have not released a string of conceptual metal albums, but as bad and as long Nostradamus is,they might as well have!!! LOL!! It just seems a bit odd to me because the fans should come first. I'll bet 95% of Judas Priest fans want a classic Priest metal album and nothing else. The other 5% will take NostraChristmas. Listened to SFV just the other night and its so much better than Nostradamus its not even funny. I'm sure its hard to match some of the cd's they recorded back in the 70's & 80's but they can do much better than this!

Well the "Christmas Comes For Everyone" track from the Winter Songs album sounds like it could of easily been slapped on side 1 of the Turbo album,as well as the "I Don't Care" track and the rest of the album sounds like Nostradamus left over tracks regardless they are all cover songs. I can't help to think that some of this material will leak into the next Judas Priest album and I sure hope I'm wrong. Priest is heading in the wrong direction with Nostradamus and Rob has given up his solo metal band for christian hymns not only with this record, but he is already planning on another christmas album next year.
Its hard to see them grinding out another in your face Painkiller/Angel Of Retribution type of an album now that Rob is sold on creating soft christmas carols each year and with Nostradamus under thier belts.
We may only get a "half & half" album of half heavy metal songs, and half experimental Turbo crossed with Winter Songs type of an album, that way they can try and please all the fans with a "compromise album".That would "suck"!! lol!! Who knows,I may be wrong here and I sure as hell hope that I am,I would "HATE" to be right in this case! Priest is guilty untill proven innocent!!!! J/K!!!!!

I just don't get the direction their heading in. How many people at christmas time are actually going ti say "Hey!! crank up the new Halford Christmas CD!!!" Doesn't seem like they are interested in giving the fans what they really want, a full blown classic Priest metal album. Instead they want to try and "push the envelope" with NostraChristmas cd's. It just seems a bit odd to me because the fans should come first. I'll bet 95% of Judas Priest fans want a classic Priest metal album and nothing else. The other 5% will take NostraChristmas. Yeah he still does the end of Painkiller fantastically well and i think he reserves himself a lot to do that at the end. I'm just saying that i think he can't sing it as well as he used to. The last 'awesome' version of Painkiller was when Halford was on the Crucible tour in 2002 i think it was and he still sang it superbly, even better than the 90's. I just think that it gets a bit much for him now. His screams are still perfect and i mean perfect and it seems you know too! When they were doing Metal Gods the line, 'better be the SLAAAAVEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!' Everyone just looked around at each other and were like whoa where did that come from and i just laughed (and gawped in pure disbelief), it gave me the shivers it was so high and perfect. Things like that just remind me why i love Priest and Halford so much. People can say that Dickinson is the best voice in metal but in my opinion he doesn't stand up to Halford especially for screams. I've never once heard Dickinson sing something that gives me the shivers, Halford has done it album after album to me. His best performance of a song to date is Victim of Changes, there is a video on youtube i'll try to find from this year's British Steel tour and it is perfect from start to finish. Well I can say I'd definitly take Iron Maiden over the Halford bands work BUT I love both bands. They both have great music.
And the weird thing about Maiden, they do it because they love it. At this point, well, 20 years ago, they coulda retired and they'd still be as huge right now. Its ridiculous how famous and loyal there fans are. At this point they don't NEED to do anything. And you can tell on stage too, they love every second of being up there. Well Hellrider another Painkiller album would of course be phenominal especially in these trying times for any classic heavy metal bands. The only factor i'm thinking about for the album though is the Metal God himself we know he can't sing Painkiller aswell as he used to and i'm trying to keep things realistic don't get me wrong his voice on Get into the Spirit is great and his screams are spot on perfect. Maybe we could get a Painkiller album with more of Robs usual melodic singing with some signature screams here and there for good measure. He could go it like Demonzier and sing all of the way through then at the end HE MELTS YOUR FACE WITH A SCREAMING RUSH OF POOOOWWWWWWERRRRR until we're nothing but a little pile on the floor. Well let's just hope that they follow through with the idea cause i've been thinking lately and i just want them to release some good old heavy metal. I know i love Nostradamus but it was too full of slow paced mid tempo and not very heavy songs, i want the Priest that i love the most and anything along the lines of British Steel to Angel of Retribution would do (with a couple of exceptions). Now another Defenders of the Faith would be awesome especially if they release an anthem as good as Heavy Duty which is possibly my favourite track on the album it's so damn heavy and Halfords vocals just tear me apart everytime.

Hell yeah J.D i think it would be awesome after all British Steel was the bands claim to fame, and reliving classic hits along the lines of Grinder and Metal Gods it can't possibly be a bad thing!

No,it "shouldn't be" wishful thinking, but you never know.I agree with what you are saying. That formula and format would be
excellent for a new Judas Priest album and if the "song quality" turns out to be excellent tracks, then it would be unbeatable. I can believe that it's like Dream Theater and Symphony X! Both sets of fans hate each other even though the bands play both equally great music. The only reason they booed Halford was because a lot of Maiden fans are elitist pigs (not all mind you so no offence to any here). Priest and Maiden don't gotogether so if you stick them in a room with each other the out come won't be so good. I certainly wouldn't boo Maiden but i wouldn't be overly excited to see them either cause that's just pure ignorance. Plus if it was just Halford band opening for Maiden my God they must have made Maiden look like like a wannabe band lol Halfords music is pure heavy metal through and through!

Now another Defenders of the Faith would be awesome especially if they release an anthem as good as Heavy Duty which is possibly my favourite track on the album it's so damn heavy and Halfords vocals just tear me apart everytime.

That might just be what is needed and i second that Hellrider!

Hell yeah J.D i think it would be awesome after all British Steel was the bands claim to fame, and reliving classic hits along the lines of Grinder and Metal Gods it can't possibly be a bad thing!
To quote ahem! 'Let's all join forces, rule with an iron hand, and prove to all the world, METAL RULES THE LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDD, WE"RE HEAVY DUTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Monday, October 19, 2009 5:06:51 PM)
