Here I am about ready to email Murray to ask why JUST this acct has no access to PMs. They are stacking up. Be nice to read them. Cleared cookies, cache, blockers. Will I be forced to create a new acct to be able to communicate? If so, I wonder how many ignores I'll get after the first day? LOL!

I think this is all an evil trick to try to get me to open a FB acct! Day 3 of 500 errors!

I remember registering for an account there, but I never got a confirmation Email. And it looks like Registration is closed now. How very convenient.
Sorry, Guids, but you know that Murray only visits once a month (or every couple of months). Until then, you've got no other way than to go to the ex-Q. Or FB, in my case. Heh.

Agreed. You've never seen me post on the Q more than twice and never on the XQ. Damn, though, I wish this site was up to the standards of the band. Can't really argue there. People are certainly nicer but, man, being locked out of PMs for two days on a server-side issue is just frustrating.

Adding to the JP article sightings, I just picked up the Sept issue of Guitar World. Big header at the top reads "The Return of Judas Priest" (while not their picture). Nice long article. Haven't read it yet but really nice photos. Compared it briefly with Revolver below it and most certainly a different article.

I asked if they could go back and change any one thing about any particular album, what would it be. He said 'it's all good' and that each album captures a moment in time for them in their career, he said sometimes you look back and go hmmm maybe we could change such and such but that's just life in general

"A jewish priest is here to see me"? "What does he look like"?
"Uhhh'"
..."He's bald with this leasure thing on his head""something I wouldn't wear" "And this leasure..." (hands motions mimicking a coat)
"Leasure???"
"Yeah like what you're sitting on"
"Leather!!!"
"That's what I said"
"Now do me a favor and disappear"
I was rolling watching that. Loved what they gave Richie. (Won't say what though). I'll probably watch it again.

BWAHAAAHAHAHAHA!!!
This was taped when Glenn was mixing the album and the rest of the band was in Vegas for Rock N' Roll Fantasy Camp. I thought it was very cool they were on it as well. Richie is so damn cute. His reaction was awesome!

My computer at work does not have a password protection on it. It's an old XP and the old computer guy we had years ago set it up and I've never had a password option. I think I may have gotten lucky. There are only two pricing options available. I checked for 2 seats at the higher price and they are the same section I'm already in row d. Quite honestly I think I made out. I spent nearly $40.00 less per ticket and I'm only 4 rows farther back. I'm guessing that I am 8 rows back.

Looks like they're playing bigger venues than I thought. The Pittsburgh show has a capacity of 12,000. I got floor 1 seats row H. Probably asking to much on my part to only be 8 rows back. I really don't have a clue how good or bad though. I doubt they sell 12,000 tickets so I may have a little flexibility. Tickets were $57.00 and $95.00 plus ticketmaster kickbacks. I got the $69.00 $57.00 tickets (lol) I'm basing that ticket sales guess on last tour's ticket sales. They may do better this time with the new disc out.

To each his own and I could probably do it if I had no choice but that's a little pricey for me. If I had to pay more than a hundred dollars to see Priest I wouldn't do it. They just released a Pittsburgh date today and after seeing ticket prices for the other shows I may pass. I'm paying 100.00 for two days @ Louder Than Life Festival and I'm going to see about 10 bands that I want to see and the opportunity to see more if I feel I can stomach them. The venues that they're playing at are midsize to small so realistically any seat should be fine. If I can get a ticket for less than or around 50.00 I'll do it, otherwise I'll need to seriously consider skipping it. I'd rather not blame Priest but I think whoever is setting the price it's a little much. I skipped Van Halen's first re-union tour with David Lee Roth because the cheap seats were $90.00 and that's one of only two bands I regret not seeing in my life. I'll probably be at the Pittsburgh show but I know it won't be up front.

I'm sure that idiots price will go down when they don't sell. All the others for sale in the pit around us are $241-$333 (pit 3). God knows we paid way more for our front row tix to Epitaph ($400 each X 4), but it was sooooo worth it!!!

@HRMG. The LTL festival should be pretty cool. If it's set up like ROTR they'll have bands overlap each other on the side stages so you won't have to watch every band. They usually have contrasting styles at the same time so you'll usually just miss bands you don't care to see. There will be someone you'll have to miss but it usually works out good. I'm no expert on festivals (ROTR only) but if you haven't been to one and if they do this right you'll have the time of your life just watching the craziness. This is the inaugaral event and I've already read complaints of two lanes in and out for traffic and possible parking issue's so it may have it's drawbacks. I thought you would be happy to hear a Detroit date. Nothing else close to me and I really hate Steel Panther so I'm thinking the festival will be enough for me. You'll probably get a longer set in Detroit so I'm a little jealous of that though. Lastly, I've went to ROTR 5 years in a row. With few exceptions there is always a large exodus of people before the headliner and it will probably happen to Priest. The crowd will be younger and spent from the craziness (pits, crowdsurfing, etc) and will cut out before or during Priest. It will happen to Kid Rock the next night too. Just telling you this so your not shocked or upset seeing it. I think the organizers set it up this way to ease people out. Have a blast.(at both)

Ahhhhhhhh.....gotta give me a referent, man!
John's package (sounds anatomically wrong to say this!) turned out to be NOTHING! Freakin' unsigned picture and a pic! BASTICH! While I am glad to have them, it looks like they were sent out by his promo company. I REALLY hope to see him in person one day. I may bust out some of my other blackmail pix of him I have as a kid!
On the other hand, who DOES sign for me?? One of my all-time favorites both behind and in front of the screen, Mel Brooks. He doesn't sign for hardly ANYONE! Check it out:
www.dropbox.com/s/mkinbi30dafbist/guess.jpg
The man is 87!!! Really equalized the big letdown from John. HE owes me $ and we still have mutual friends. I'll catch up with HIM sometime! Never catch up with Mel Brooks, though....

Hell if I know, Bud! Really odd. Got the physical tix yesterday. "VIP GA" but with a seat number?!? Can't find a word about it online. As HRMG suggested, perhaps a private bar / private bathroom!
I best get a tag or something!
Man...I'd really like to go to a Detroit show to give a last "hurrah" if, in fact, that is going to be it. I am also with you on the album, Bud. Only listened to the snippets and Redeemer of Souls. I'll avoid everything else until the album (won't be hard as I am off to Spain this week...it best be waiting when I return!).

I liked it too. I love In This Moment and Maria Brink and thought she did good. I thought it was funny they did it so well. It sounded a little out of whack when it first started and figured Brian would laugh thinking they f**k'd it up. If he's not too biased he might dig it. They are one of the reasons I want to hit that festival.

I was just on Priest's facebook page. I'm noticing two things. One cool and one not so cool.
Cool: They have an ad for their appearance on Rockline. The photo attached has a photo of MRH. (Sorry, my two favorite bands, I love it)
Not so cool: I try to not let the criticism bother me and commented to J.D. to try to do the same but I spent twenty minutes reading comments and the majority seem so critical. I'm not really sure what people are expecting from them. It won't be a highlight from their career but it sounds like a good effort to me and a good way to go out.(if that's the case.)

Click new editor, paste embedded video, click allow when little box appears(clipboard). Click post. Click view post. Now you'll have a comment and a link that you can't click onto. Click edit, switch back to standard version. Message box will be black. just click on the box(anywhere) and don't do anything else. After careful consideration, I feel my synopsis of Nostradamus was a bit harsh..I do like the album and it gets spun fairly often at my house..I love the story and the songs and Rob's voice..I just feel it could SOUND better..I was one of the defenders of the album from the get-go when it was getting bashed by a lot of Priest "fans"..I just think it could stand to be re-mixed..I would happily re-purchase it, especially if there's bonus tracks or maybe a DVD..Priest has been and always will be my favorite band and they can do no wrong in my book..I am waiting for Redeemer of Souls with baited breath and will continue to enjoy Nostradamus.. |

Listening to Nostradamus right now..the mix is awful..muddy..same problem with the last Van Halen album..Please remix this thing because it is great..I understand trying to save a buck but Rob's vocals are so good on this thing and it's a travesty that they can't be properly heard..Glenn, please get Roy Z or Charlie Baurfiend and stop trying to produce these things yourself..end of rant |

Another Jim Breur video I took @ ROTR. "Heavy Metal Man". The fella's in their forties should get a kick out of this. It's comedy but this is pretty heavy. I think it almost has a Priest feel to it.

Yes! his solos are priest like, one of the things I was afraid of that it would be missed on this new album. But the two new tunes shows that the priest sound is intact and I have already pre-ordered the new album on both CD and Vinyl and can't wait for them.

HF should be working on a new album this year, yet when this new Priest album comes out they will be drooling over it ,pumping it and forget about thier new album ha.
Man I can't freakin wait till Redeemer Of Souls is released,11 more tracks to listen too and 5 more bonus songs too...we are very lucky to have JP in 2014....hail to Richie Faulkner!!!
His solos sound so Priest like, but not like Downings .....just a true fit for this band its utterly amazing how perfect he fits in Judas Priest.

Pipen...no your absolutely right,Hammerfall out of SEVERAL british styled traditional heavy metal bands seems to be the only band that sounds like 1980's heavy metal : 80's Judas Priest(70's too) ,80's Iron Maiden,80's Dio (Holy Diver/Last In Line) stuff like this shows up in thier material but never a rip off, just a homage ect....
They are not for you,and most heavy metal fans but like I said for me,I've studied traditional heavy metal and TONS of bands these last ...about 7 years or so now...and HF imo is the very best...not just because they dound 80's,but because of how GREAT and AWSOME thier songs and albums are man. Sure they have one or two songs here and there that I dont like, but not many. Dont like thier ballads ect...but yeah they fuckin kick ass.Joacim Cans is one KICK ASS original vocslist.

J.D. I also see them as HM, ( Never heard of Death Dealer so them aside) but with a more modern touch and style, HammerFall imo are more traditional eighties, in my eras at least. :) so that's what I ment with last standing .....
But that is an highly subjective opinion of course . :)

Pipen, actually Hammerfall isnt the only band left thst is british styled traditional with thier own style .....Primal Fear....Iced Earth....Death Dealer....there are a few more that I can't think of....but they are just not my style, but they are good bands though...
They all play a Painkiller/Jugulator style of Priest's influence in them ....so yeah they are all good bands but just not for me thats all ...
Hammerfall's Priest influences that show up in thier music comes from 70's and mostly 80's Judas Priest songs. HF would of fit well if they came out in 1982. They have 8 studio lps from 1997 -2011 and for me personally I love thier first 7 albums. They last one sucks heavily imo.
Definately not pushing Hammerfall on anyone, but to me...out of tons of bands I've heard....HF carries the traditional 80's banner with sound and image aesthetics and most importantly thier songs.

I can agree with that, HammerFall might be the last standing traditional heavy metal band even though I haven't fallen for them so much.
They are ok but that's about it.

I love the Painkiller album, not just "like" it...I see why most Priest fans starve for this level of heavy metal cause it IS heavy metal at its all time heaviness....Im all for Priest making a record not that sounds like PK but as heavy sure....but at the same time if they want to write classic 80's stuff then Im game with that.
Wait untill we hear the opener "Dragonaut"....I'm sure it will kick our asses..... |

It is the everest of Priest's heavy albums yes,but to me Sad Wings,BS,SFV beats it. IMO only.
And yes I think fans want a much more heavier lp than AOR and Nostra. I do too. I liked AOR not only for the 8 out of 10 yracks I like but also the way it was purposely recorded not as heavy as Painkiller to harken back to an lp that sounded somewhere inbetween SFV and DOTF kinda sound ect....

Thank you so much for sharing this!! I LOVED it. His Brian Johnson impersonation had me cracking up, he was DEAD ON!! I loved how he had to "get a breath and grab his nuts" to do the Halford scream which was pretty damn good and I can picture Rob doing it just like that! Looks like a BLAST at ROTR!!

The weather sucked but it was probably my favorite as far as band sets go. I watched 26 bands and only 3 of them i wasn't into. Saw a couple of new bands I'll be checking out. (Avatar and Gojira.) Some surprises. The Pretty Reckless was probably my biggest. She was awesome. Loved Jim Breur's set. Gemini Syndrome (the band that hit my wife in the head with a drumstick). I loved them. They have to be my favorite new band right now. Check them out you may be suprised. Lastly, if you are even remotely interested you must go next year just to experience it. I've been to 260+ shows since 78 and ROTR is by far the craziest and funnest shows I've been to.

J.D. Diamond: I agree whit you in almost everything you say about Priest, but I do like Nostradamus and if I remember it correctly you don't. :)
Saxon is one of my top favorite band also and they still deliver both live and in the studio, Maiden is also great band but since No Prayer they haven't came out with a decent song imo. But up till then they are pretty solid, even if the downfall begins whit No Prayer that one at least have moments and I rate that album to be an 3 out of 5 at least.
But my nr. 2 band is definitely not HammerFall, Accept is! Wolfs guitar playing and Udos unique voice on top of that is just magic to me!
And even though I hated the fact that they where starting up again without Udo they certainly proved me wrong in the end, Mark does an incredible job. I usually have a hard time to accept change of a lead singer in a band but this was an exception that broke the rule, haha!
Judas Priest has and will probably always be nr. 1 to me, Accept is the the only band so far that I almost like equally much but Priests strength is that they can deliver with variation from Sad Wings to Painkiller, Accept is more of an one way road so to say. But which band who comes third changes from day to day, week to week and so on. :)

Al may have been referring to the fact that KK auditioned for the band in 1969 and wasn't very good - even KK has admitted that. He only knew 5 or 6 chords and didn't get the job. KK and Ian formed a trio called Freight. When the original JP fell apart, Al heard Freight rehearsing and was impressed with KK's progression and joined their band, asking them to use the name Judas Priest.

For me to say Maiden hasnt been releasing quality metal is just my opinion,my comment was based on how many others think otherwise but even in that so what,it doesnt mean anything...
The same way I think Saxon (1995-2014) are my second fav band and how I say Hammerfall is #3 all time best HN band.....not very many "at all" feel that way.....not hardly many at all so its the same srnario. If you do take away Priest,Maiden and Saxon Hammerfall rulz!

Not saying YOU think this way but I think fans "AKA hellrider" who look at Priest albums before 1990 as incomplete or invalid because they are not as heavy as 1990's Painkiller are really not fans of the band, but simply Painkiller fans.
And if you think Maiden has been releasing quality metal then kudos to you. But you are definately in a class of very very little who think they have.Good for you.

Painkiller is like the Everest of their catalouge, I doubt if the new cd will top it. Not saying it won't.......I would be super happy if it did. From what they have released so far they're heading in the right direction.... getting that swagger back. Maybe they are following Maiden's lead and starting to produce more consistant metal.....I think that is what everyone is wanting. |

I think what you're trying to say is .....it's got the "Painkiller swagger"...lol...and I'm sure when Painkiller came out in 1990 way more people liked than not. No split reaction like your saying. Sure ....some didn't like it....but I'll say the majority of fans did...and I'll bet the majority of fans want this new album to be way more heavy tan the last two.
