Took a showrer and brushed my teeth. Now ? May I go to sleep or I've to waste still my time with you ?
I make you a proposal. Let's go for a Pint. I'll drink one here in Italy, you one in USA and fuck everything. At last for me Motorhead is Heavy Metal, for you not, is it a so big problem ?
I propose another list of best album, always without considering Judas Priest:
Don't break the oath - Mercyful Fate (Confirmed)
Peace sells... - Megadeth
Killers - Iron Maiden
At war with Satan - Venom (MAybe is not a fantastic album, but it opened a new way of playing Heavy Metal)
Are you right with me or we ahev to continue until the end of the world ?
For me it's ok, it's so funny [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Thursday, August 26, 2010 1:24:54 AM) | | J.D. DIAMOND wrote: | | Ah take a shower and brush your teeth lol! | | metallo wrote: | | I know it's only rock and roll but I like it

Oh my god. For the last time I repeat!!. Bon Jovi is not HM. Someone considered his music as HM but for me it's not HM, it's only R'n'R. I don't like this kind of R'n'R but someone likes. I only said that if someone consider Bon Jovi as HM, why not consider Motorhead Very Heavy Metal.
Itìs so difficult.

Now you could say that Van Halen are not metal, but any metal guitarist dreamt of playing such Eddie, but then they palyed '1984' and made a 'Jump' to POP and never recovered.
Everybody gave the origin of this music to Hard Rock bands such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, someone consider Jimy Hendrix, someone else the Kinks, then Judas Priest gave a direction to everybody and still doing it. After it, the NWOBHM gave birth to many bands such Iron Maiden, Anvil (Canada), Acid (Belgium), Trust (France), Vanadium (Italy), Raff (Italy), Accept (Germany).

Maybe it's time to resurrect the 'Greatest Hard Rock Album' Thread?
I think Metallo may be referring to a thread which was hanging around called 'Are Bon Jovi metal?' The answer is of course no, NO and N-O!! but someone on here must have thought it once. Worrying...
Hey, I've found a great quote on the back of my Motorhead best of CD!
'....Heavy Metal legends Motorhead were the first hard rock act to harness the energy of Punk...'
The inside sleeve notes describe the music as 'spirited rock 'n roll' (now I'm getting confused), all of which either makes Motorhead masters of genre- fusion, or their PR guys total morons. I... am opting for the latter. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Friday, August 13, 2010 1:24:51 PM) | | J.D. DIAMOND wrote: | | metallo, are you retarded? Hmmm some that need to be on the list of greatest (in no particular order):
Judas Priest: British Steel, SFV, Defenders of the Faith, Painkiller.
Saxon: Denim and Leather, The Inner Sanctum.
Iron Maiden: The Number of the Beast, Powerslave.
Hammerfall: Legacy of Kings.
Motorhead: Ace of Spades, Inferno.
Amon Amarth: Once Sent From the Golden Hall
Grim Reaper: See You In Hell.
Dio: Dream Evil.
Overkill: Feel The Fire.
That is some that I can think of so far. |

What never ceases to amaze me about this album is how heavy it still sounds. Many bands from that era- Led Zeppelin for example, or even early JP sound fairly tame compared to the extremes of metal that we have now, but THAT riff is as scary as ever, especially the first time you hear it. Jeez, greatest metal album ever? Half the time I can't even decide on my favorite Priest album...
I'm a huge Priest fan, but I think most any metal fan can agree that Painkiller has to be in the running for that title. That album embodies everything metal from start to finish. There is no flaw, heavy to the core, and relentless in it's aggression.
I'm a youngun', so I wasn't around when SFV or BS came out, wasn't a part of the time of those albums came out unfortunately. Had I been there, I'm sure my opinion would be different, so I can't argue against anyone saying British Steel, or Screaming was the best.

Hey there Hellion, like I said, 1980 brought us a lot of great Metal. Granted, I was only 15 in 1980 and I am jaded towards Priest, but you are correct in your assessment of Manowars' '80 release, but that WAS in '80. I'm saying PRIOR to '80 my friend.
