My guess the videos posted below had to be someone from the crew or something. They were cracking down on video taking that night. The guy in front of me just had a pocket camera taking a video and they went through everyone to get him to stop. This was taken from the front row.
Priest is recording the show in Florida at the end of this month for a live DVD. I will be first in line to buy it.
Here is the first part of V of C in Cincinnati.

I think you're right about Halford having trouble at times, especially with Painkiller. However, he's strong as hell right now, only about a 70 minute set (only?!) and some days rest in between really make a difference in his performance. He's kicking ass right now. I encourage all of you metal heads on here to go to the shows. He's ripping good right now. He is hitting ALL of the notes. I was at the Paso Robles show (back in row S, way off to the left, which wasn't alot of fun IMHO) first. I have never been to this venue before, so I had a lot of fun exploring the grounds. I wonder if the WS & JP guys did? heh Both bands played great setlists. I definitely enjoyed all the music, and all the guys from both bands looked and sounded terrific. The central coast area is a nice getaway, and I enjoyed my time there immensely.
I was originally planning to go to the Concord (my hometown) show on Friday, but could not procure a satisfactory ticket (i.e. very close to the stage), when I checked the 'net at my motel in S.L.O., so I decided on Friday morning to go check out the Marysville show with a couple of my pals instead. I'm glad I was able to procure a general admission pit ticket before I left S.L.O. Friday morning, with all the troublesome b.s. Live Nation puts us through!! My friends and I got to the S.T.Amp. late, but we were able to get up front before Tesla started. I planted myself center/left, between Rob & KK turf. Tesla was good, Whitesnake was typically refreshingly fun & awesome, and JP was eye-popping and happy aaaaaahhhhh up close there. My throat still hurts from yelling along with all of WS & JP's songs! It was my goal to see Glenn & KK up close, and I sure got to! Nothing like seeing their twin-axe attack in front of me. Great set list, great sound, and a ton o'fun, despite the massive crush up there.
Oh, and I had never seen a crowd-surfer during WS before! Hah, I luved this pairing of bands immensely!!!

You make a good point....and as I was watching Ian last night I was thinking...IAN IS KICKING ASS...He was holding his bass in the air and shredding just like KK during a solo.
And last nights show was as good or better then the Concord show....Two shows in two nights....I am spent...but would go again tonight.
Last nights show had...Powerman 5000, Saliva, Trapt, Tesla along with Pop Evil, Whitesnake and Priest. Good times. Saw them for the forth time last Sunday in Corpus Christi, TX. Freaking amazing. Like a trip back through time. Sent chills up my spine when Rob killed on Sad Wings. Can't beat age for having earned their chops. These guys were smooth. Saw lots of bi-generational groups all around. Lots of us mature folks were wearing ear plugs. My ears are still ringing. Loved every second. Just had knee surgery less than a week ago. Limped my ass there. Nothing could have stopped me!!
As Rob opened, "The Priest is Back" Hell ya!!! |

I saw Priest for the 6th time last night. I thought they kicked ass on the Metal Masters Tour, but man did they kick ass, and take names last night!! What an awesome show!! My favorite song of the night was Steeler, then The Rage!! It's so great to hear whole albums played in their entirety. They also went back to Sad Wings to do The Ripper and Victim of Changes, they also did Freewill Burnin', You've Got Another Thing Comin'. They seem to have focused on songs that featured both Glenn, and KK on leads. Scott Travis also added his own double bass touch to some of the classics, he is such an awesome drummer!! You guys need to catch they guys on this tour, you won't be disappointed!! Not to mention the laser elements!!! Edited at: Saturday, July 25, 2009 9:20:53 PM |

The likelyhood of them doing a Painkiller anniversary tour is very low to none, maybe some special releases but no tour...i mean do you really think Rob can hit those notes in 10 years from now? he is a metal god, but he struggles now, ten years i dont think they would do that. and defenders probably not either. because although that was an amazing album they are doing Brtish Steel because how ground breaking it was and how it mad them superstars! haha, and i dont think they would want to revisit every single good album theyve ever done! lol
but in 2 more days i will see my first Priest concert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 30th anniversary of 'British Steel' means a commemorative tour to be performed of the album in its entirety live. Neat. NOW . . . what's the likelihood that some other albums made in the '80s or, well, 'Painkiller' will have the same attention given to their anniversaries? The idea Judas Priest came up with for this tour is stellar, but if they had the same attention given to 'Defenders of the Faith' or 'Painkiller' (really any one besides 'British Steel', to be blunt) I & many other will go CRAZY in excitement! Well . . . let me know what the chances of that would be. I realize it may be silly to ask at this point of the tour, but here's a shot anyway! :-)

I saw them last night at PNC. They were brilliantly awesome, to say the least! They never disappoint. Totally incredible to hear British Steel live, as this was the album that made me a fan. Rob wore denim for the album, then wen into his usual jacket changes with the rest of the songs. The crowd was very into it, and seats were no longer needed when they appeared. Since reuniting, I've seen them 5 times, but this one was special, as my Motown music loving wife of 32 years finally attended. She, along with my daughter loved it, and had a great time. Added to the set were Hell Patrol, The Ripper, Victim of Changes, Nostradamus, Freewheel Burning (when he rode out on the motorcycle), and finishing with You've Got Another Thing Coming. I may hve missed one or two, but I'm still on a 'high' and wish I could see them again tonight at Jones Beach. Priest, Priest, Priest, Priest, Priest, Priest!!!! |

A couple of quick observations IMO: on the tour setlist so far that I have been able to hear live via torrents. Once again IMO:
1) Metal Gods does not have the power as it had on the last tour, period.
2) They should have dumped Rock Hard Ride Free & kept Eat Me Alive. EMA absolutely killed on the last tour, RHRF is way past its prime.
3) The best songs from the British Steel Set are easily: Rapid Fire, Steeler & Old To be Wise.
4) The setlist is too short. They should have added at least 2 additional songs. Especially with the traditional BTL, LAM & YGATC already there....
5) Great to hear the electric version of Diamonds & Rust again! No sleepy ballads on setlist; I am glad they gave Painkiller a rest.
6) Finally, no songs from Stained Class/HBFL or POE leaves a huge void...

Pretty simple- Halford is simply concentrating on the song and/or using the teleprompter in the process. He does give it 100%, don't believe me? GO SEE THEM LIVE!!! Last year we saw the KC show and then Phoenix (where he resides part of the year), where in the desert he feels right at HOME. He absolutely tore it up! The bottom line is this- if you like PRIEST, go see 'em NOW while you still can see one of the finest hard rock/heavy metal bands of ALL TIME!!!
After listening to the Priest since 4th grade- 1977, I can tell you this- there ain't nothing like JUDAS PRIEST!!!!\

Somebody said earlier, that Rob was better this tour and not hunched over in one spot during a whole song. I saw a video on youtube, i think it was Hellrider maybe, but Rob spent most of the song hunched over, it was weird i didnt know if it was part of the act he was putting on with the song or if he was hurt or sumthing? lol |

Rob Halford has to pace himself when he sings live. He has to conserve energy. He's got to make sure that he lasts until the very final note. He's got the hardest job out of all the other guys. He does a damn good job and I thought the last DVD was fantastic. "Painkiller" is enough to rip your vocal cords. |

The Rage: I noticed that all members of the band seemed to really enjoy performing "The Rage". There were alot of smiles up on stage and they were throwing shapes with extra enthusiasm. They really looked like they were having a blast! I think it was the best song of the set.
Rob: A disapointment after the show. Rob went straight to the bus and left without acknowledging anyone waiting to see him. The rest of the band spent quite a bit of time mingling and autographing and posing for pics. Scott was the standout to the faithful waiting for a glimpse, he came and went several times before and after the show taking a few minutes each time to hang out with his fans. He was showing off his female companions to the small crowd outside, enjoying the attention! He later said they were just friends and family.
Here's the link to my Indy pics, some are quite blurry...it's hard to get the guys to stand still long enough on stage to get the good pics!

From what I've read and seen on YouTube, he seems different this tour - more the old Rob that we love so much. We will see for ourselves in 12 days, right? CAN"T WAIT!! You might want to bring both hot weather and cool weather clothes with you. The saying in Michigan goes, "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute because it will change!" Right now it's mid-70's and windy. Could be 90 by the time the show hits, who knows? We can discuss things over lunch/dinner... we will be driving in from seeing them in Cleveland the night before. And don't forget the CD, I can't wait to hear it!! Keep having fun on vacation..... wish I was in Southern California!

Now, I keep saying this is only an opinion!!! I mean, he may very well be elated to be touring with Priest night in and night out. It just seemed to me that he was going through the motions, as it were. That he would rather be doing something else..or maybe WITH someone else?
He has his own material...a Record company...various other interests. Perhaps he has reached the point where Priest (for him) has run its course? I am not sure and I do NOT want this to turn into some kind of silly rumor mill. It is merely an observation. I hope I am WAAAAAAY off on this! I love the Priest and Rob. I really do. Its just that, during the last few shows I have seen, he did not seem the same. |

Yes, Rob was hand slapping and shaking hands with the front row in Indy...as I mentioned, he was singing TO the audience this time, not just going through the songs. I liked the addition of animated lasers to the show. The stage set itself was simple, but packed alot of punch!
It was cool that there was no opening act...just the mighty Priest doing what they do best: Heavy Metal! When we saw Priest in a small venue in Mount Pleasant, Michigan (September 2005), there were times where he completely dropped the act and was the Rob of old. I have to tell you, those moments were AWESOME! He shook hands with people in the audience (there were no barriers), someone came up on stage because you could just walk right up on to it, Rob turned around and smiled at the guy and shook his hand before he was taken back to his seat. He made jokes and smiled a lot. So I think it has all been an act on stage rather than disinterest.
I know that Rob LOVES his fans and keeps everything they give him. Maybe he had something he had to do and couldn't talk after the show? He is probably one of the busiest guys in the business.

I honestly believe that he does love the fans. No doubt about it. The man is no fool. He knows that the fans are what keep him paid! It is not so much that he does not care for the fans as it SEEMS that he does not care for the Priest gig.

When I met Rob a few years back after the Angel of Retribution tour he was extremely friendly, posing for pics and chatting about a book he was reading on seldom used words in the English language. This was a very small group waiting in Champaign/Urbana IL after the show(2005), vs a fairly large group waiting after the June 29 2009 show. Maybe he didn't want to be mauled by a throng of over-enthusiastic fans?
On stage, he seemed more animated than the past few tours, previously spending most of the show hunched over in one spot or moving around slowly(probably due to the weight of the costume?) but this past week he was full of energy and singing to the audience, not just singing the songs. The show in St. Charles was my first Judas Priest concert and I gotta say it was pretty awesome. I had no idea this was the second date on the tour, no wonder I couldn't find a setlist. Rob's voice sounded great. I think Glenn was having some technical difficulties on the intro to The Rage which made me sad, but everything else went off perfect. The crowd really lit up after they played The Ripper, what a great song to break away from British Steel. Hoperfully they'll actually come back to St. Louis again next time around.

Saw the (St. Louis) St. Charles, MO show last night after driving in from Kansas City. WOW! Whitesnake was good, but Coverdale's vocals are strained and his range is capoot! Nothing like when I saw him in 1984 ad 1986. Enjoyed several of the Slide It In tracks, but TOOOO much pop crap from there...
Judas Priest DID NOT dissapoint! After seeing them 6-8 since 1984, I would have to say that this was by far one of the most energetic and lively shows I've ever seen them play. Seeing British Steel in it's entirety was absoltely amazing. LOVED seeing Victim of Changes again, Rock Hard/Ride Free was great. Wish they would have played Touch of Evil or some other 70's goods, but the band was truly amazing! Wish I could afford to go out and see them at Red Rocks. That will be THE show of the year!
Go see the Mighty Priest! After 32 years I still LOVE this band!!!! |

Hey everybody,
I have 2 extra tickets, front row and sixth row, to the Cleveland show on 7/14. I am selling them at face value to Priest fans.
The front row ticket is in section 3, row A, seat 1, and costs $144. This is in the right section on Glenn's side and the seat is on the aisle by the center section.
The sixth row ticket is in section 2, row F, seat 3, and costs $90. This is in the center section and the seat is on KK's side.
I can accept PayPal or a money order. I will send them for free using USPS priority mail with a delivery confirmation number.
Please send me a PM if you're interested in one or both.
Thanks.

sorry, bluddy, the word "they" in my first sentence wasn't necessarily referring to the band or this website. it was referring to whoever is responsible for the mess that i described. another reason i'm so pissed off about the whole 'buying concert tickets' runaround is this: the first dates announced for this tour did not include any shows near my home (Lancaster PA). the closest was the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, which i was reluctantly willing to travel to in order to see JP, even though everything i saw on the net said that venue sucks with a capital "S". well, i waited and waited and there was no mention of the holmdel show on TM or the venue's site, even though the shows immediately before AND after were already listed on TM and on sale. LUCKILY, the second round of shows (including merriweather post in MD) was announced before the holmdel tickets went on sale!! had i bought tickets to that shithole PNC center in holmdel, and then 'they' announced a closer better venue, i would have been ROYALLY PISSED OFF! ALL DATES should be announced at the same time, period. i dont' wanna hear "that's the way the music industry operates" excuses. MAKE IT HAPPEN. the whole process is utter bullshit, and THE FANS are the ones being screwed. in the past 25 years, concert ticket prices have risen 1000%!! and what have the fans gotten for all that extra money? ticketbastard, ticket brokers, and the end of 'first come-first served' ticket availabilty for the best seats. everybody involved in the process is getting rich and the fans are getting shit on. Defenders was the first time I actually saw them on stage, since then I've only missed the Ram It Down tour. Sometimes seeing them more than once per tour. I found this out too late to get close seats. Doubt I will go there also now, probably just go to Indy (4th row).

sorry, bluddy, the word "they" in my first sentence wasn't necessarily referring to the band or this website. it was referring to whoever is responsible for the mess that i described. another reason i'm so pissed off about the whole 'buying concert tickets' runaround is this: the first dates announced for this tour did not include any shows near my home (Lancaster PA). the closest was the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, which i was reluctantly willing to travel to in order to see JP, even though everything i saw on the net said that venue sucks with a capital "S". well, i waited and waited and there was no mention of the holmdel show on TM or the venue's site, even though the shows immediately before AND after were already listed on TM and on sale. I feel your pain. I am sitting on tix for three different venues thanks to Ticketbastard. Even when they released the one for the venue closest to my house, they did it in reverse order so I have a couple for the same damn place. Sux, eh? Judas Priest doesn't have any control over what TicketMaster or LiveNation include or exclude. If the basic deal for the show has been set but the details are still to be sorted out, the venues and ticket agents can't post such info until it's complete. JudasPriest.com is doing you a favor by letting you know that a show is planned, even if ticket info is not posted. i'm so sick of all the bullshit runaround when buying concert tickets. on sale dates are always announced at the last minute, making it extremely difficult to assemble your crew and get confirmation from everyone. prices and purchase limits aren't available until the tickets are on sale and you're "on the clock".
i'd like to see a CONCERT FANS' BILL OF RIGHTS:
- on sale dates will be announced well in advance, at least 2 weeks. this announcement must include ticket prices AND purchase limits. fans should be able to view seating/pricing charts in advance. it's next to impossible to get confirmation from friends when you can't tell them ticket prices, seating charts or how many tickets can be bought together.
- ticket brokering must end now! first come, first served must be the rule!

Do you get Pre-sale tickets only by subscribing to Ticket Rush? That's what it seems if you go to LiveNation. How come JP doesn't explain Pre-sale tx details on this site? LiveNation blows. I didn't realize that Blockbuster made this deal with LiveNation to promote this Tour! Fat cats and Corporate blowhards. |
