Yes I agree,Maiden has NOT released an album as good as AOR since 1984's Powerslave with Retribution being the better album of course but they haven't come close to AOR. I reckon this next LP will be just as good if not better than Retribution putting an end to anybody's doubts about the band's capability to still crank out classic material.
They have heard it all the past 2 years with Nostradamus, they have heard the good with the bad and I'm sure they have read many times that people are saying the band lost it including me when I heard Nostradamus,I'm not exception but with a little help from Hellrider's optomistic words I've come around full circle and will bet money that this next album will kick some ass!! Loch Ness is boring, but Demonizer, Judas Rising, Hellrider, among others, are awesome as tracks. No way can AOR be compared to Brave New World or any other snooze worthy Maiden album of recent years. For one thing, the songs on AOR aren't 10 years long! LOL!

On that note,Angel Of Retribution may not be Judas Priest's best LP but its not thier worst either,it utterly amazes me how many people not just on this forum but outside this forum who do not like Retribution, they all compare it with recent boring Iron Maiden albums and to me thats unbelievable.
I swear if Angel Of Retribution were released in 1986 instead of Turbo,90% of these people who say they don't like it would be hailing it as a classic right along side of Defenders Of The Faith. I still say that Judas Rising,Demonizer and Hellrider are just as good as ANY JP track ever, name any 3 songs by JP and those 3 are just as good to me anyway. It doesn't matter though,Priest could release an album better than Painkiller and since its not released in the 80's 90% of people would hate it,thier loss. I really think that Angel Of Retribution is an underrated album, still say its the band's 5th best studio album of all time I even like it better than Stained Class,Hell Bent For Leather and Defenders Of The Faith but thats my opionion.

Wow Head Banger that is a huge statement about Angel Of Retribution. The 4 albums I would say that top it are Sad Wings Of Destiny,British Steel,Screaming For Vengeance and Painkiller and then I'd put AOR 5th place but AOR is my favorite JP album because of how new it is but yeah many people do not consider it a great Judas Priest LP,it just blows me away...."Wheels Of Fire" is a simple song but it just screams of old-school Judas Priest,a very underrated song as well as Deal With The Devil....also Eulogy is utterly amazing even for a short track,it is classic. What does it matter? Because they were both in Sabbath, no one can enjoy both of their music? Rediculous. Both of them benefit from the ever revolving door of musicians they surround themselves with, so it isn't like either of them have a formula that allows their albums to sound like echoes of the past....
BTW.... Best wishes to RJD, recently diagnosed with early stages of stomach cancer...

jtwa1, don't "take your ball and go home"! Just know that you can't change how people feel about music. In my personal opinion, music MUST be melodic to be music. My remarks were aimed at "jd diamond". I didn't attack his "homeland", but he sure did mine and me personally. He fired first and I just fired back. The statement about taking my ball and going home was a joke. But I will leave you all alone. Good luck too everyone, except maybe "Diamond". JUST JOKING!!!!!! don't blow a vein.

yeah the PRIEST strayed to far away from metal to far for the majority of the songs on nostradamus i respect peoples feelings for the album.for myself it has been a very huge emotional rollar coaster ride at first did not like it then started getting in to it then WTF am i listening to with a burning sensation i get when i hear easy rock.this album has taken up a lot of valuble time priest could have recorded and reliesed 2 metal monsters in that time used for nostradamus .well it has been a project they have apparently wanted to do for a while and i did support it(still have not bothered opening up my nostradamus LP still in shipping cardboard and CD with book but i did buy it.TIME FOR SOME TOTAL RUSH OF POWER JUDAS PRIEST HEAVY MEEEETTTT TTTTAAALLLLLLLL [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by J.D. They really went "too far" and I think a lot of people are afraid to admit this, not the people that already claimed to have loved this album like Jackylone or Guido, they like the album simply because they "like it" and there is nothing wrong with that, but there are fans out there who are "forcing" this album to be good because they spent money on it or they are just not going to accept that they don't like it because it will be another 3 years before the next one so they "must" like it.
Nevertheless,I still think that the band got carried away in the studio and pushed it too far,as you said hellrider there is really not very much "power" in Nostradamus for a Judas Priest LP. Its all opinionated I know, and I'm doing nothing more than a fan of Nostradamus thats preaching how great the album is,but I've noticed that at least 85-90% of fans do not care for the album. Just an observation.

So you're the one stirring everyone up. I usually don't say much but if you don't like what you hear or see, I don't like being blunt but, suck it up and just take it as is. Debating gets you no where this day and age. Believe me i know from too many experiences from school and one of my friends who wants to debate all the time. Besides you just made a fool of yourself in front of everyone making this response here when people gave you a sour note. About the music thing, I am a very open person myself. I LOVE Nostradamus but if anyone else doesn't like it for whatever reason just respect their opinion and be on your way. Don't confront them about it, it just leads to this. Well then that was my piece for now, have a pleasant day. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by jtwa1 from Wednesday, October 21, 2009 4:34:23 AM)

LOL! Yeah you tried to slip in the "isn't Seattle where the grunge originated from"? As if you "diddn't know already"() Please. That was every bit of an attempt to try and slag me because I'm from Seattle(where the grunge originated from)so I dished it back at you and it hit you in your pole puffer.(lol!) I'm not a rasist,or a bigget not even close, but you want to slag my homeland here, then you'll get it back full force,so with that said, why don't you take your corn cobb pipe, your chaw'o'tobacky, jug ' o ' shine and your lazy boar of a hog that sits at the foot of your red neck rockin' chair and get on down the road ya hillbilly!!! LMFAO!!Are you going to "CRY NOW"?
And your whinning "Nostradamus" bullshit is pathetic guy,I "HATE" the album, and there is NOTHING you can do about it. I think that Priest "made a mistake" with this direction and so does 90% of long time fans, the other 10% are happy with it. Deal with it.It is what it is. Since you have an open mind and all,why don't you buy a Boy George Culture Club album and give it a listen....now wait, now wait....I couldn't fathem at listening to such an album myself(yuk) but you with this open mind...hummmm....."try going along for the ride jtwa1,you may enjoy it,open your mind a little and listen to something new and different, you might be suprised at what you'll like,I promise it won't hurt ? Trying to change someones opinion about music is pointless. We all like what we like, period. I'm not sure why you want to have a debate about it. Someone can talk to me about how awesome the Jugulator album is until they are blue in the face but it won't change how I FEEL when I listen to that album - I feel really angry after listening to it. It's not because Rob isn't there, it's the feeling of the album. I listen to Priest because I love them and they have always helped me get through the hard times in my life and this album doesn't do that for me. I can listen to that album over and over again and "open my mind" and it still won't change how it makes me FEEL. Having said that, I can take each song individually and I like them - they are some of the heaviest songs Priest has done. But as a whole, I don't like how I feel when I listen to it so I don't. I'm sure that others have similar feelings about other albums. Yes, music can grow on you.... I had a roommate in college that played Jimmy Buffett 24/7. It grew on me (like a fungus) but I do not choose to listen to it. However, when it does come on, I smile because I remember those awesome days in college.
I like the Nostradamus album along with many others here and J.D. and other people don't. So what? It doesn't make any of us more or less a fan of the ALMIGHTY PRIEST!
The thing I have always loved about the metalheads is that we do not judge one another - we are a very accepting group of people. I don't try to change other peoples minds about things like music because you either like it or you don't.

You no doubt believe the Jews have all the gold, all black people can play basketball, all Irish are drunks and all Muslims blow up airplanes. Anyone who doesn't share the same taste in music as you are stupid. The classic defense of a closed mind. That wasn't a knock at Seattle. I had a friend overseas from Seattle and when the Monsoons (look it up) came he use to joke and say it reminded him of home. You guys really bummed me out, I'm taking my ball and going home. SO THERE!

LOL! Well to "jtwa1" Black Rain is "better" than Dio's "Holy Diver" album,or anything Dio has ever put out. Black Rain is better than The Mob Rules? LMFAO Guido!!!!! I still own and listen to Blizzard Of Oz,Diary Of A Madman and Bark At The Moon. With the exception of some songs off of No Rest For The Wicked, every Ozzy album after Bark At The Moon is really not that great at all,and most of them are terrible. Dio crushes Ozzy's solo albums after Randy died. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Tuesday, October 20, 2009 3:58:31 PM)

Hell, was anyone but me at Ozzy's "goodbye" tour? About twenty years ago. Brought both kids onstage with Kelly in arms.
At the Fox if I recall, you Detroiter(s)? I laughed as no one really knew the second to the last lines of War Pigs.
Then again, I remember the Lips tour what was lauded as the last Rolling Stones tour.
While I still love Dio, call it nostalgia, I still love Ozzy. I was actually floored with the Reunion / Ozzfest tour of '05. Then again, I was expecting some bumbling drunk asking if "I wanted a burrito" to be onstage. Ozzy did a great job. I will always think of Dio as a solo artist. That is a bunch of "baloney" jtwa1,you are only focusing on "Black Sabbath". The thread was not only an opinion of who was better in "Black Sabbath",but who is better as solo artists and whos latter albums are better.I'll give you that maybe Ozzy was #1 for Black Sabbath, and maybe when Dio sings Ozzy Sabbath songs they don't comfort you as they don't "fit" but the band's original material 1980's "Heaven & Hell" album and 1981 "Mob Rules" album are better albums and songs than "Never Say Die" and "Technical Ecstacy" the last 2 studio album done with "Ozzy". And I would go as far as saying that the Heaven & Hell and Mob Rules albums are just as good of material as any album done with Ozzy.
Now,if you want to talk about solo career....in my opinion "Dio" is far better solo than Ozzy solo,by FAR. Blizzard Of Oz and Diary Of A Madman are his only 2 albums that are of top quality,Bark At The Moon was "ok" and marked the LAST quality Ozzy album as the next however many albums in a row up till now was really not that great man. 1986 "The Ulimate Sin" was horrible,No Rest For The Wicked was alright, but No more Tears and every album up till now sucks big time. Dio has Holy Diver,The Last In Line,Sacred Heart,Dream Evil,Lock Up The Wolves...those 5 albums were cool, but Strange Highways and Angry Machines were the only 2 that were of less quality."Magica,Killing The Dragon and Master Of The Moon Dio's last 3 albums surpass Ozzy's by far.
I can't believe this is even being debated. Dio was great with Rainbow back in the early 70s but we're talking about completely different music. Ozzie's vocals add a personna and an eerieness to the music that Sabbath requires. Sabbath has never been the same without Ozzie. Someone mentioned Live Evil as proof. The music is great. i love Ozzy but Dio has more range in his vocal style. He can hit a lot more high notes than ozzy can. Ozzy is a metal god, the prince of darkness, but as far as singing I gotta go with Dio.
[Skylar] Friday, August 07, 2009 6:25:45 AM
You can't compare them cause they don't sing the same type of music. For instance Dio's voice is more lyrical while Ozzy's more characteristic. I regard them both as great singers.Ozzy's also a very good performer while Dio's singing can match the opera singers. If you want to simply have fun and you're feeling like going nuts then you'l hear Ozzy.If you want to relax and just be caried away by the music you'l hear Dio

I don't know if you were responding directly to me or just in general but let me educate you a bit.
1st: I am a woman not a man.
2nd; I didn't say that I don't like Ozzy.
3rd; I didn't say that I've only heard of him in Black Sabbath.
4th; I'm from right here in the good old U.S. of A. where, if I remember correctly, we have a little thing called freedom of opinion.
5th; No need to buy Ozzy cd's when I already own them.
6th; I never said he was "overrated" as you put it.
7th; Remember that freedom of opinion thing? Well, you stated yours just as I stated mine which obviously either you didn't read or didn't understand.
8th; A person can be a music lover, and not be labled as a lover of only one type or genre of music. Gee, what would you say to Rob Halford if you heard him sing opera? Would he no longer be the metal god that he is?
9th; Not that a lady should have to disclose her age, not that I have a problem with doing so, but I happen to be 43. Well out of school - at least the formal type. Everyday brings new oportunities to learn. I strongly advise that you do some more learning. Maybe you require a tutor or two or three. You sound like you have a lot to learn. For starters - CHILL THE F__K OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Oops, maybe you won't be able to figure out what letters go there! sorry! it's a 'u' and a 'c'.)
10th; As you put it, "i'm dead serious. listen man do yourself a favor, a big favor," go buy some Dio cd's, anything that strikes your fancy - from any period in his career, and take a listen. Better yet, go see him live, and listen to his vocal ability at his age. The man can sing, not just scream or shriek, but sing. Not many performers can last this long. They are far and few between from all genres of music.
Now go to bed, it must be past your bedtime and let the adults talk!

Yeah....Magica is better than "Last In Line" and :Sacred Heart" to me...in my opinion. Holy Diver is his best. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by british.steel from Sunday, August 02, 2009 3:12:26 PM)

DIO
[Sinner Rider] Thursday, July 30, 2009 3:51:54 PM
Ahhh. I love the Ultimate Sin is my personal favorite..
I can see how people wouldn't like it as it has a different feel then his other solo stuff.. a little more electronic sounding maybe?
I can't understand how any metalhead does not like Dio..
Tank...I'm not sure who you are talking to....who has only heard Ozzy in Sabbath and not solo? Hum........ Anyways....the first 2 Ozzy albums are his best...Blizzard Of Oz and Diary Of A Madman.
Bark At The Moon was "ok" and The Ultimate Sin was his worst album yuk! No Rest For The Wicked was less quality than Bark At The Moon even...and No more Tears was nowhere even close
to the under-par-quality album of No Rest For The Wicked. And then the rest of his career went down hill fast...."Black Rain" is horrible and shows how much Ozzy needs to give it up.
Dio's solo albums were a little bit better but not much....he had lame albums too..."Dream Evil"...Strange Highways....Angry Machines.....Killing The Dragon was better but I wasn't really
impressed with it....Master Of The Moon same thing...."ok".. I think Holy Diver was his best and Last In Line his 3rd best...."Sacred Heart" was cool,Lock Up The Wolves and Magica were
cool as well. I think "Magica" was Dio's 2nd best record under Holy Diver. Magica is amazing and I would recomend anyone who likes Dio to buy it.

I agree with J.D.D. and Ron. Although Ozzy is great, best with Sabbath, Dio still has the voice and the presence. Last summers concert at Jones Beach with Priest was incredible! Dio definately has it over Ozzy, in individual style, vocal talent and overall career. Just one metal chicks opinion!

I would have to say Dio. Gonna see him with the fellos from Black Sabbath their band Heaven and Hell, Aug 8!

OZZY

Give me Dio for the talent and voice. Ozzy did not do much as far as song writing, never has. Usually his bassist and guitarists do the song writing. I do luv Ozzy though. No disrespect intended.
