Any luck Vail? [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Vaillant 3.0 from Thursday, October 01, 2009 9:34:15 PM) | | Vaillant 3.0 wrote: | | Good evening, guitarists of the Noticeboard. I seek your advice on something. It may be a bit trivial, but bear with me.
My guitar is a Squier, and I love it to death and play it as much as I can. I've been meaning to put on a guitar strap, since my older nephew (the previous owner of said guitar) took it off. I went to the music shop nearby a few days ago and bought the screws and bolts and everything. The problem is that the holes where the screws are supposed to go are too big. It kinda looks as though he pulled them off, or that something's missing. What should I do? Should I partially cover those holes with glue or something and then put in the screws, or what? Any advice is appreciated. |

K2M, I have the opening to "One for the Road" figured out. Been practicing it for a while now. All that's needed is to figure out the rest of the song. |

SDB is right on the money with the toothpicks or dowel idea. I suggest using some stuff called "Gorilla Glue" to do te gluing with. It is an expanding type of glue but what ever oozes out of the hole is easily trimmed with a razor.Just be careful with the Gorilla Glue, it loves to get onto your skin. It poses no problem just an annoyance. If the original ones just pulled out, I have heard of people gluing tooth picks in the holes around the outside edge, then installing the new strap buttons, but I have my doubts as to the long term viability.
I would suggest you find a craft or hardware store and pick up a piece of dowel rod slightly larger than the diameter of the hole. Drill out the stripped holes to the same size as the dowel (don't go any deeper than the current hole), then glue the dowels in place. Let the glue dry for 24 hours, then redrill the size hole needed for the new strap buttons. |

I know, it is difficult to believe that over 25 years later, Randy still garners such a reverence from so many. In that trailer, I think John 5 said it best.
The guy who posted it has posted it elsewhere, but it gets removed almost immediately. Every time he posts it, they threaten to pull the plug on the whole project, but it at least results in a release date delay. Simple fact of the matter is that Peter needs to understand that Randy belongs to all of us now, and it is a posession held in the highest of regards. As soon as I know any further, I will post it... |

That particular guitar is custom all the way. I forget the builders name (JD Higgins or Riggins ?)but it is a very cool guitar. And those inlays look great. I can see his cabinets thru the stairs, always wondered where he had them? many players these days use an isolation booth or face them away from the stage and rely strickly on their monitors to hear what they are playing. very cool indeed! You know, he also used those JP cross inlays at one time. Maybe they also fell off...

The red one is all full of sparkles. Don't know if I can handle the bling. Plus, I already have two red ones. Does that offset the three black ones though? Hmmm..... | | Vaillant 3.0 wrote: | | Wait a minute! I thought we already voted!! Hmmmm...ah well, I'll still go for the red one. | | guidogodoy wrote: | | Yeah, I saw those. Can't say that I particularly liked them. Nice thought but vinyl? They would peel off in half a second.
Now then. KK's new KxKs is another question. Red, black or white? Votes please! HAAAA!!!!! |
