I'm imagining that I didn't just go outside at 3:30am to shovel out my car and my wife's car, clean them both off,
shovel a path to them in 20 degree temperatures, all two hours before I had to get up. I start at 7:00am.
I love winter!
Hey Becks, I think that warmth you were sending us got caught up in the Gulf Stream where it got whacked in the head and jacked
by some Artic blast from up North causing more snow and cold our way. Thanks for trying though.(LOL) Edited at: Friday, January 21, 2011 3:07:25 AM |

I dont think it should be too much to ask that a firearms owner have a background check and take a firearms handling course. I also think some types of guns should not be available for the public.
it would reduce gun crime if guns and ammo required a licence. not eliminate but reduce, as gun supply went down. right now a major source of criminal wepons comes from thefts. reduce guns around it would drive up the price. never going to go away though, this guy could have been a normal licenced dude and then snaped. |

Wrong! Your point of view means as much as anyone else's. We're all equal, right? And a civilian would never be able to own a pistol like Jared Loughner had for just every day carrying around - you can only use a pistol at a range, and you have to prove to the authorities that you're a member of such a range. Extended magazines in general are illegal too. It took my father in law months to get through the red tape to get his pistol licence. I think a big thing that can be done is to more closely assess those who wish to own guns. This guy was clearly mentally unfit to be in possession of a weapon. Hell, a friend of ours got visited by a police officer to be checked out for his rifle licence renewal, all because he had sufferred from depression in the past. But I suppose it could be looked at as, as soon as you start scrutinising people, you are infringing on their rights. I don't know how it works over there exactly, but that's just what I think. | | running wild wrote: | | I'm imagining that someday we'll be able to keep crooks from getting their hands on guns

If you ask the people of Arizona they probably wouldn't want their gun rights taken from them. We are always going
to have an idiot with a gun committing heinous crimes. If you take gun rights away you still have guns. There are millions
of them out there. So now the only people carrying them would be the idiots because they will always have a way of getting
them. You would have to eliminate every gun out there for gun control to work. They need tighter laws to punish gun crimes
as harshly as possible. Will this stop gun crimes? No, but if people who commit crimes with them are put away longer then
they can't commit more crimes while being locked up. The majority of gun owners are responsible with them. I have a gun in
my home and always will. I have been as angry as a person can be and I've been as depressed as can be at times and "never"
has my gun been brought out because of it. I've shot it to make sure I can but otherwise it lays under my bed in case I need it.
And yes it is loaded and ready. I do agree that it should be harder to get a gun and maybe the person should be evaluated first
but this still won't stop an idiot from obtaining one. The so called "black market" will be around long after guns are outlawed.
Many people have prevented crimes from happening to them by carrying a gun. As tragic as these shootings are I never want
my gun taken. This is my opinion and it only matters to me. You are free to believe anything you choose. Edited at: Wednesday, January 12, 2011 4:49:54 AM |

Not going to Happen here in the US of A. Loose screws and criminals buy way more guns that the average home owner just looking for a last back up to a break in.
I'm not anti gun, but as for myself, I would NEVER have a gun in my home. Don't trust the odds of things that go wrong.
