Udo, you caught my attention with your intro post as I also run marathons (Rio, Brazil last summer and Memphis 1/2 coming up in December), was SERIOUSLY thinking of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro this year (airfare was too much...maybe next year) and now this....I also own an Appaloosa! Her registered name is Saffron but we call her "Saffie." She is now three. Beautiful animals you have there.
SCARY similarities, though! Good thing I have two dogs and not cats!

I see. Well, I certainly do not speak German so I must say you are quite the man!! HA!!!!!! Well done, my friend.

I lived in Canada until I was 13 years old - although that has been quite a while ago
And although I don't need my English much at work - it does come in quite handy dealing with my hobbies.
[Deep Freeze] Tuesday, October 28, 2008 8:19:11 AM
I must say Udo, your command of English is most impressive! You are very well spoken.

Thanks for the nice words. He's an Appaloosa-mix gelding.

Our horse is kept in a stable near our house - 6 km away. So, it's pretty cool - he has nature and we have him near by. And believe me he deserves his name...

Jacky is a crazy cat - she always waits until my wife has emptied her beer and then goes over to her to lick the last drops out of the bottle. But the cat is picky - she only drinks Pils - she doesn't like dark beer or Hefeweizen (that's what I drink!).

My Horse - Spirit

He actually does that everyday - especially when it rains...

My cat - Banger

The other one - Jacky

She's like me - she loves beer!

I like cats, don't get me wrong, but they do put me into serious respiratory distress. And cats seem to know who is allergic. My  cousin's cat jumped up and nosed me, nose to nose one time and within 10 minutes I could not breath and my nose looked like roudolf.

Tell me about it!  I am not highly allergic, but I sneeze, get itchy eyes and get a sore throat.  Benedryl is taking the edge off of it but I am considering Clariton D or possibly rehoming him

Gets whatever he wants? Yeah, you got THAT right. However, do notice the piece of plywood I have clamped in the stairs to the left of him in that photo. That is to keep at least ONE room safe. Hairy devil ate one of the plastic clamps the day after I put that up to keep him from jumping the stairs as it is baby-gated off at the bottom. Oh, what a funny guy!

Like Kiko, the bird in my pic, he is essentially a rescue dog. Just walked up my drive one day. I have thanked him many times since for having "picked me."

Really? Took me about an hour with absolutely NO contact with the cat at my friend's house to set me off. Any idea what type of bird sent you to the e-room? No question, they do kick up some "fluff." The birds constantly preen and when they shake, it sets off a mini dust-bomb!

That's me with cats, I am afraid. At that Octoberfest party last weekend, the guy had a cat and I pretty much left with asthma! Shame, too, as I love all animals. Even Nina, my rat terrier, sets me off. Calvin, no problem. Wish I knew I could stand birds as a kid. Poor petless me. Only goldfish. Still, I cried when the best goldfish in the world, Jaws, died! Sniff....

German Shepherds are such beautiful animals.  They were my favorite breed when I was a kid.  The only problem I have with them is the many health issues that may come along with them.  If you can get a healthy one, boy are you lucky.

Love our animal friends, got two Shepherds, one's 8 and the other 2 years old.  I've owned a few mutts and have to say that the Shepherd breed is the most loyal.
[Jeanine] Thursday, September 25, 2008 8:28:01 PM
I browse this thread once in a while, I love animals (Guido, sorry about your Canary).  My dog Timber who is 11 was having some issues today  my daughter told me he had an "accident" in the house (both) AND puked.  Poor baby.  He seems ok now but I am going to watch him and maybe feed him some rice and hamburger tonight.  He has never done this before so I am hoping it was just a fluke.

thank you everyone for your sympathy. and thanks for the advice joedraper. the only pic i have of him is on the computer. i guess i could try to print it out. it is the same one i posted in this topic about a year or so ago. its on page 25 or something. i think the mama cat has about 2-3 weeks to go before she has the kittens. we have decided to keep an orange one if she has one, because if i keep one that looks just like his father, i would be expecting his father all over again, because i had him since kittenhood too. so im getting one that dosent look like him at all and i will take your advice and just accept him as a pet since there will not be another frito.

new puppy arrives on sunday.

Hi SS, have you got a photo of Frito? If you do then you should make up a flyer/poster with his photo on and post it all around your neighbourhood. You never know if someone thought he was lost they could've taken him to a shelter or maybe even kept him with them at their house. I hope that you do find him. I always thought running away was far worse than a death because if your pet dies, you at least have some closure. Try to accept the new kitty as just that, a new kitty with his daddy's legacy but no expectations other than being a good companion for you. Enjoy the new pup when it arrives, my new one has caused havoc and I'm loving every minute of it! lol... He's doing well at puppy school and has mastered sitting down for a treat... still not perfect on potty training though but we're getting there. I seriously suggest puppy school. It's made life easier for me and I'm understanding my puppy really well. At the end of the course they do a show/ ceremony and get a 'graduation' certificate at the ceremony.. Can't wait to show off my little doggy lol.
