I don't see a problem with that rule, the guy was in too much of a hurry to get up and celebrate like most players these days, If you can't hold on to the ball than you don't deserve a tochdown. One rule that I think is really dumb "the ground can't cause a fumble". Whats up with that?
Oh yeah and what Budred was saying about Bret Favre a few post down should apply to Randy Moss. Standing up there with that crooked hat and headphones talking out the side of his mouth and whining. I can't stand that guy and can't believe Belichick puts up with that crap. No wonder they can't win a Superbowl these days. Edited at: Wednesday, September 15, 2010 10:31:13 PM |

Must chime in and agree that I like the old rule that once the ball breaks the plane....touchdown!!
Oh and Zomby is most certainly a good looking Englishman. Thanks for the soccer/football clarity. A wise man too. |

Actually, the rule change came this past off season. If that game had been played last year, the Lions would have won the game. Another rule change is 'momentum or pushing a receiver out of bounds'. If you're pushed out and would have otherwise stayed in-bounds, you're still out and it's not a catch!! Another change, though not a rule change, is the referee no longer lines up behind the defensive line. He now lines up 12 yards behind the offensive line. Too many 'O' plays had receivers running routes behind the 'D' line and the LB'ers were being shielded by the ref so there were easy completions...that's no longer an issue. On the same note, if the Center snaps the ball before the ref is 12 yards back, the QB is charged with a penalty (ask Manning and the Colts about that one, he was repeatedley flagged for that in the pre-season, it's really messed up their game!! lol).
As for Cutler, 379 yards passing at a 103 passer rating...
Sunday's game against an emotional Cowboys team in Dallas will be a truer test for the Bears than last Sunday. Sure, the Lions are a vastly improved team than last year (RB Best is pretty damn good!!) with all the free agent signings, but nowhere near the talent of Dallas...same can be said for the Bears. I'm looking forward to it!! [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Wednesday, September 15, 2010 1:47:36 PM) | | J.D. Which brings me to this...
The so called non-TD TD that has everybody upset isn't the end all beat all for the Lions / Bears game. Until that last drive the Lions had (I think) 99 yards of total offense!! They couldn't do ANYTHING against the Bears 'D'. Yeah, they scored twice, but we gave up the ball 4 times (twice deep)!! And that doesn't include a dropped TD by us on like the 3rd play of the game. The Lions 'D' had no answer to the Bears 'O'. They marched up and down the field at will against them...again, Bears turnovers and penalties are why the game was even close at the end. By my calculations, the Bears could of / should have easily won the game 35 or 42 to 0.
But I wholeheartedly agree...that WAS a TD catch in my book and the Bears are lucky to have escaped with a win!!
