Well you know I've been thinking about that and actually I take that back. I thought it was a lame idea at first yes but I changed my mind, yeah yeah I can never make up my mind blah blah blah I get it..ect..ect..ect... back to the post...it really wouldn't bother me if they changed the name as long as the name itself was totally kick ass and it fit perfectly.

As for Saxon vs. Maiden, yeah your right  because Saxon will always be in Maiden's shadow and Priest's too, they will never be as popular as Maiden and will never sell as many albums or concert tickets, merchandise ect... no matter how good they are now I admit that. And I also have said I think the 1980-1985 Maiden were better than Saxon,I'd vote for Maiden's earlier work over Saxon's.

Back to the post...They aren't going to change the name but perhaps they should to quiet people down a notch about how its not Priest without K.K...ect.... again, yeah as long as the name is good and as long as the album is kick ass it wouldn't matter to me to lay the name Judas Priest to rest.

saludos!

Actually Jimmy I'm not  trying to encourage people to get behind the new line up,I'm challenging them to say "some" of  the same things about the band after they hear this next Priest album.  And at first I said I wouldn't see them live, but I changed my mind,so yes I'll see them live unless they don't come here.

And I haven't seen Priest since the 1988 Ram It Down tour....they didn't come to Seattle for the Painkiller tour or I would of went, and I missed the 2004 Reunion tour and unfortunately the Angel of Retribution tour as I had other things going on in my life I don't care to discuss beings its a long story but it was never because I didn't agree with what they were doing.....

Except the Nostradamus tour....thats when I bought tickets to the show but I had only heard one song "Calm Before The storm/Nostradamus which still is the only song I like on the entire album,so I gave my tickets to a friend and he saw the show. I was too "butt hurt" to see them because my expectations and hopes for Nostradamus were so high it was an utter letdown and it pissed me off to say the least. I'm still glad I didn't go.

They never toured here for the British Steel reunion tour,so yeah I still haven't seen them since 1988,but it doesn't bother me. So yeah thats the only time I didn't agree with what they are doing.

You're being extremely vocal in your support for the new line up and album and encouraging people to get behind it. Does this mean you'll be seeing them in concert sometime in the near future? As I recall you've said you haven't seen them live in ages because you didn't agree with what they were doing.

Lame idea. They release an opera/rock watered down experimental album and call it "Judas Priest" and now they should change the name to put out a hard hitting straight forward classic metal album just so K.K.  and butt hurt fans will feel better?  Stupid idea,if anything they should of changed the name to make Nostradamus.  But thats what happens to your brain when your down 19 to 5 haha lol!  Change the name?

Maybe after the final Epitaph tour they should just drop the Judas Priest name altogether hook up with Faulkner and record an all out hard hitting straight forward classic metal album with no epxiremental stuff  but under a different  name. This way K.K. Downing can retire himself and the Judas Priest name and the rest of the guys can move forward. Ha!

Just wait until this next Priest album is out without K.K. and we will compare it to Nostradamus (with K.K.) and we'll see which album the metal community likes better.  I can give a rats butt if Ken is on the album or not at this point, the band has starved us for far too long without a proper metal album and I want some quality heavy metal from Rob,Glenn,Ian,Scott and Richie Faulkner.

The album doesn't have to have K.K. on it to be kick ass,who cares that people will not call it "Judas Priest" good for them, the logo will be on the album cover and Halford,Tipton,Hill and Travis will all be on the record.....for those of us who still are supporting the band we will not be let down, especially not now after all this has gone down.

I don't know this and its just a guess, but I've got the feeling that K.K. had got "bored" with "metal" all together. I think this is why he left the band because Rob and Glenn want a strong metal record and I think K.K. wanted to either have Nostradamus be the last Priest studio LP or wanted to dabble in more experimental material.  I think this is the breakdown within the band and the management sided in with Rob and Glenn about creating another strong "metal" album.

Thats my guess and I very well may be way off base here but I'll keep believing this untill I'm proven wrong.

I do agree with your comment about the Tony Martin era Sabs albums, although if you were to say that on certain Sabbath forums, they'd come looking for you.

As for the Ripper era albums, I did enjoy Demolition, but hated Jugulator. Having said that, I haven't listened to either for a very long time.

I am going to the farewell tour to thank Judas Priest for their music, live shows, influence on my life and the inspiration from within. It is a celebration to say goodbye to our heavy metal gods and what they mean to us. Ive seen them over 35 times since 1981, they deliver, are first rate class, total showmanship, and always bring a  smile to this fan's face. Ill be there to show my appreciation of my favorite band of all time. Thanks Judas for the great memories and being such a big part of my life, growing up and 30 years later... MpleSyrp

But thats just it.....I don't care if it's "Judas Priest" or not without K.K. I just don't.  Sure "this is shitty" and sure"that is shitty" ...sure "the band is shitty for ending thier career this way"...sure alot of things are "shitty"...ect...but it has to come to a point sooner or later that posting about K.K. leaving will be pointless.

I get it that its just happened ect...but soon it would be like logging onto this forum in 2001 and complaining about Rob not being in the band and how its not "Judas Priest".  If you and others wish to do so by then,so be it because I don't have to read it ect...

But I was just saying that not only you but if this bothers anybody for that matter nobody is asking them to stay by Rob and Glenn's side through this, its your choices and up to the individual.  And I think with Rob, Glenn and Ian still here this is more "Judas Priest" than that of the Sabbath era with Tony Iommi releasing those unworthy Sabbath albums with Tony Martin.

Alls I'm saying is that nobody is saying your wrong,it is shitty and the band handled this shitty and K.K. leaving is shitty but if it bothers the individual that much then eventually they can leave the forum and stop listening to the band's future plans,ideas,music..ect....

I don't care at all,to me its still Priest. Adrian Smith left Iron Maiden in 1990 and the reason that the albums were lame is because of the "song writting" and it wasn't Janic Ger's fault,it was Steve Harris,Dave Murry and Bruce Dickinson's fault for writting under-par albums. If Rob and Glenn write an under par album then it will suck,if they write a brilliant album it will be awsome but as far as if its Priest or not I really don't care but to each his own.

I still challenge these people to post thier same thoughts after they hear this next Priest album in 2012.

I think the one thing we all agree on is that this was handled very badly. There is not one person here sticking up for the way that this went down - it was underhanded to sell tickets if they knew at the time they were doing it that KK was out of the band. The other thing we all agree on is that this new line-up is NOT Judas Priest. It can't be. KK and Glenn had a signature sound that no one can copy. But what can we do? Nothing, although I wish we could all get down on our hands and knees and beg KK to stay, I doubt that would make a difference. So we either choose to accept the new line-up or we walk away with our memories. But this is just a shitty way to end a career and I never thought in a million years that the Priest would go out like this.....

JD, it's not a case of being upset, we're here to discuss the band and voice our opinions. Opinions are not facts, they are totally subjective and can be presented without a person having to justify them.

If I said I think Point of Entry is the best album the band did, sure loads of people are going to say they disagree because everyone has their own take on this for a million different reasons.

For a lot of people, this is the end of the band as far as they're concerned. It may be that the next album turns out to be brilliant, but will it be "Judas Priest"?

During the late 80s, Tony Iommi released a few albums under the Sabbath name but for many people it just wasn't Sabbath anymore. Again, it's just opinions.

If we weren't allowed to voice opinions on these forums, then all we'd be exchanging is facts and figures and everyone would be bored to death very quickly.

For the record, I agree with Alli (check your PMs Alli), the way this has been handled is slightly dubious. It's kind of like being sold a brand new red Ferrari, but when it's delivered, you've been given a brown, second hand Mini.

They probably will gain new fans with this new guy but I;m with u it won't be the Priest we know.  I was just sorta getting used to the farewell tour business but for KK to say he's leaving was like too much to take, specially as he formed the bloody band in the first place!!! I How can it still be Priestt  it   was bad enough when Bobby left and Ripper came in and yes I m sure he did a good job but it wasn t the Priest I wanted!!!  I've also seen every tour with Bobby since 1981 I couldn;t face somebody else singing Bobby's stuff.  so I never saw Ripper.  I am still going to see em I've got my ticket but I can;t imagine not having KK stood there.  As for replacing Glenn it s not just about the guitaring it s about the personality s in the band.   I ll tell u this if Bobby leaves again that will be it for me.  Also the way the whole thing has been handled is a farce I mean it;s obvious somebody knew something u don't just get a new guitarist like that.  I hate to say it but I think they;ve played us all for a set of fools!!!  We are going to be seeing a tour which is not what we paid to see a bit underhand if u ask me.  What a sad way to end ur career by deceiving the people who put u there in the first place!! If KK s not happy he does right jacking it all in  but it;s a sorry state of affairs when the founding member doesn;t feel he can say a proper goodbye to his fans for whatever reason it is a total fiasco,

I care about what you have to say Bud. I supported Priest with Ripper and this is no different to that in my opinion. I completely agree with you, everyone has to decide how they feel about it and arguing is absolutely pointless. If you don't support Priest at this point, why get an account NOW and come on here to just bitch and call everyone names who doesn't agree with you? I hope people will come around and give Priest a chance after they stop being angry about the situation. The new album is going to blow everyone away!!

 @ budred : keep on writing, I 'm reading you !
@ supernaut : yes Glenn could be replaced, as KK will be, and each band member could be (except Rob, in my opinion). Glenn more than KK ? well that's hard to say. The fact is that KK took more and more place in my heart as the years went by. first, because I felt he really technically kept on progressing. Second, because his guitar sound was better to me than Glenn's. but the problem is not here. Music is one thing, human feeling is another. Seeing Priest is like to see friends, or a part of his family, if one miss, the feast is not perfect.
@ Guitardude : yeah ! I still wonder why Priest, and now Glenn, don't go back to a more minimalist gear. Too much drive, and bzzzz in Glenn's sound. That's only because he his this amazing guitar player that he can make his guitar ring correctly. The perfect Gear for both KK and Glenn  was for me in 1984 :what a killer sound on stage ! Yes, marshall are the amp for Priest !!

Oh, and to the person who basically called HRMG a "doofus" . That shows how angry you are that she doesn't agree with you.
I can see you as a kid not getting your way and throwing a "hissy fit" all over the place trying to. I can see that carrying over into
adulthood and you arguing or fighting with anyone who disagrees with you. Open your mind a little and realize you have your
beliefs and others have theirs and they're not always the same.
