If it's true that KK wants to stop playing metal music and play metal muzak instead, then it's time for KK to go. At least we will always have "Sinner" to thank KK for. |

WTF is going on in the JP camp? Who is KK having issues with? If management is the problem then get rid of them! If it is musical differences with band members, then what does KK want to do? Let's get some real answers here! THIS IS JP! |

Flora is in the same boat as me Spa, first time to see Priest (if they make it down this way!) and it'll be without KK
Great to hear from Rob!

I'm not out to bash anyone for a personal decision.
The timing is likely not as it seems. Priest didn't just pull a new guitarist out of their back pocket, this had to have been in the works for some time, and they waited to secure a new guitarist to formally anounce it.
Good luck to KK in all his future endeavors, and I must say I admire the fact that he addressed his fans today and explained why he was leaving. That does not happen too often in Priest, to get the truth up front, right after a shattering anouncement.
I'll still go see Priest, and be glad to do so. It will be difficult to see someone else standing stage left though. God, Flora is going to see them for the first time this tour and she really took the news badly. Almost as shocked as me.
IC, thanks. Nice to know more news came out while I was typing this. Good to hear from Rob.

I agree, they should do the tour with KK on board, the timing is atrocious and it's all just very very silly (for lack of a better term lol). KK is a FOUNDING member of Priest, he should be there for the last hurrah. Even though KK has released a statement, I still get the feeling there's more to it, as surely they have been through so much together professionally (and personally) they could make it through this last tour and upcoming album together??? Hmmm....

They should get on with the tour with KK on board and he can step down afterwards before the next album is released, then they can tour that album with the new line up. If that's what they want to do. After nearly 40 years, doing a farewell world tour without your lead guitarist / principal songwriter / guy who started the band is inexcusable. Both parties should realise that what's important on a farewell tour is the audience. Surely they are old enough to deal with each other on a purely professional level. Everyone else has to work with people they don't like or agree with. It's not like they can't afford to get seperate hotel rooms.

This situation is comical. If a bunch of 60 year olds can't get it together enough on a personal and professional level to record an album and do a tour they might as well all call it a day and give the people who bought tickets their money back ( as if that would happen ). How bad is the situation when the guy who started the band says "fuck it" and walks away? If Priest somehow make it down to NZ ( which won't happen either), I will not be attending the show. |

Is sad that KK retired and did not see him on this last tour. It's sad but I have to accept. I was not so sad since the death of Dio. Between a story and another, I think so little time... Enjoy it as much in each performance knowing that KK will not be there. Poor of me :(

I knew it!!! I knew that KK wouldn't just retire without doing one last Farewell Tour of the band he helped create!
The "breakdown with certain elements of the band and management" was obviously a creative difference over the direction and future of the band with Rob and Glenn.
I don't think this upcoming tour would be a Farewell tour if KK had decided to stick around. They probably would have done one more album/tour cycle and then maybe done a farewell tour in 2-3 years time.
I hope everyone is correct in hoping for one last killer metal album from them. Even though KK will not be on it, it will at least be a true "metal" album and not a "metal opera" like Nostradamus.
Glad to hear KK is ok health-wise. I wish him all the best and thank him for his many years of great music. I respect him for not doing the tour if his heart is not in it. At least we will get one last chance to rock with the Metal Gods and hopefully one last killer CD. \m/

I agree 100% HRMG. Yes Nostradamus was K.K.'s monument, baby, his creations and his interests, every time I heard interviews about the album from Glenn he didn't seem enthusiastic about it...and it makes us "wonder" if Glenn was into the album or not for everybody thats reading.
I seriously think that K.K. was into doing another album but not a british styled heavy metal album,I really think we were going to get something in the vien of Nostradamus,or on the flip side maybe K.K. didn't want to do another album "AT ALL" and wanted Nostradamus to be Priest's last LP with Rob and Glenn aching for one last heavy metal album? We'll never know, but our hunch is probably right, our gut instincts I'll bet is 100% dead on here HRMG.
That being said,I'm glad K.K. is out of the band, had he stayed there either would of been no new Priest album or a watered down Priest album. Lets be honest,I know some like the Nostradamus album but its not going to be hard for Rob and gleen to top it in writting a better heavy metal album without K.K.
This is why there has been a British Steel tour, and Nostradamus dragged out for 3 years ,and is why we will have to wait 4 years from 2008 to 2012 to get some "metal" from the metal gods.
I do thank K.K. for all the good albums and memories but hails to ROB HALFORD,GLENN TIPTON and IAN HILL for continuing Judas Priest. We are hungry for metal and if K.K. has to step down for us to get it,then so be it.

Well, it seems that KK is leaving for all the same reasons that Rob left the band in the '90s. I find that ironic since KK said back then he didn't understand why Rob left the band. It looks like KK wanted to retire and they decided to do the farewell tour, without a new album. Maybe Glenn and Rob talked KK into writing a last album and he just didn't want to do it - he wanted Nostradamus, his baby, to be the last album. Either that or KK didn't want the album to be as heavy as Rob and Glenn do. Mark my words, Glenn and Rob want to give us a HEAVY AS HELL BRITISH HEAVY METAL album. They want to go out on top, I have no doubt about that.
I'm sick and tired of this up and down rollercoaster ride with the Priest announcements!! If there is any other bad news, I'd like it NOW please! Crushing us with the farewell tour announcement and then giving us hope because you are writing a new album and then crushing us again with the news KK is leaving..... I can't take anymore!!

Dear friends,
It is with much regret that I will not be with you this summer. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your concerns about my health. Please rest assured that I am O.K.
There has been an ongoing breakdown in working relationship between myself, elements of the band, and the band's management for some time.
Therefore I have decided to step down rather than to tour with negative sentiments as I feel that this would be a deception to you, our cherished fans.
However I would urge you to please support the Priest as I have no doubt that it will be a show not to be missed.
All my love and respect,

Dude thats the funniest shit I've heard all day (lol) Dude totally,I hear ya loud and clear...ha your the only one else besides me who has the guts and balls to say some shit like that, tell it like it really is with the band lately(last 5 years)good for you jimmy I however won't be counting down the days till the next album comes out like I was before any of this happened but I'll sure as hell be interested in it the day it comes out so I can listen to it before I decide to buy it. If the album is top notch with quality songs we might all be suprised.
I really think now that the album will be HEAVY AS HELL,I really think it will be so that will be interesting the week its released, still can't get pumped up for it incase it turns out like a lemon, but Rob and Glenn are out to prove something. Looks like the downfall of Judas Priest was it's founding member these last 5 years.

Yes, he will add you. Just go to my page and look at my friends list and click on him to get to his page and request to be friends. That is much easier than trying to figure out which of the multiple Scott Travis on Facebook is really him.

I can't wait to read what he has to say. He may not deserve it be he surely should have expected it.
It's their last tour. Some may never have seen Priest and to expect him to be there for the last hurrah
isn't asking too much. I'm sure he has his reasons and they may be valid (at least to him) so I'm trying
not to bash him. My posts have shown disappointment but that stems from sadness.
I'm glad and appreciative for all he has given us.
To K.K., THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Udo S. from Thursday, April 21, 2011 6:42:38 AM)

Well, there is supposed to be an official announcement from KK on his website later on today.
Personally I'll wait for what he has to say before I go over the top. KK doesn't deserve this kind of behaviour. He's done too much for the band for over 30 years or am I wrong?

Now, we need more details. Priest members really have to speak. We need the truth. Priest is not only a band, it's a band with 5 (4) members.
Whatever happened to KK, without any good explaination, I think they should have cancel the tour. |

Its almost like K.K. has forgotton that " JUDAS PRIEST IS A HEAVY METAL BAND" and he was wanting to put out another Nostradamus type of an album? If thats the case which I honestly think it is,then Priest is better off without him! They are a metal band for christ's sake not a god damn opera laden band!!!!!!!!! He could of easily created "nostradamus" on his spare time while Rob is doing a Halford tour instead of golfing! "SIGH".
To Scott Travis if your reading: Sorry for all the negative remarks from all of us as we know K.K. is your friend ect... but its incredibly hard to accept the Nostradamus album as a Priest album and then wait for a real metal masterpiece for over 3 years and counting.
Yes its hard to accept the fact that the next album(If there is going to be one now) will be without K.K. but Scott's drums will be on the album(thanks for that) and Rob,Glenn and Ian too will be on it,if the song writting is good and the songs themselves turn out to be ultra classics this may work out well. Now....Hellrider is 100% correct....there is no room for tracks like Worth Fighting For even though I love the track,we need every track a scorcher, barn burner metal mayhem like Painkiller....

This is really shit news I aint gonna lie it has put a downing on my week! Seriously though, yeah it really is shit and no one can replace him but we really don't know the situation yet.
But the way I look at it is, you have 4 of the 5 definitive members left, did Megadeth lose all there fans when everybody but Dave Mustain was different? No they didn't, even Guns 'n' roses still have fans.
Priest have Halford, Tipton, Hill, Travis and now Faulkner I say give him a chance he might breathe some life into Priest as they have lacked that recently.

This is a shock to me. I remember last summer, watching interviews with Halford, talking about 2011 and Priest. And he said they were going to do another tour and more British Steel shows. Then that Epitaph announcement comes out of nowhere. Now this KK business.
KK is my favorite guitarist in Priest. Its going to suck now not seeing him on that left side of the stage. This new guy may be a guitar god, but it dont matter, cuz he isn't KK, and he isn't fuckin PRIEST. Now im getting that uncomfortable feeling, just like I had during the Ripper years.
I just dont understand how you can go on a farewell tour, without KK. I really hope this shit changes from now until the tour begins. I need that KK solo live during Victim Of Changes, and all his other amazing solos!
The epitaph announcement ruined my week.........this KK announcement has ruined all of 2011 for me, thats how much I fuckin love this band.

While I can certainly understand all the KK comments & questions, I make it a point to NOT try & get in the head of another man (Hell, spent most of my life tryin' that w women & STILL haven't figured anything out!)
MOST importantly, far as I know, no one is sick or dead.
part II ~
Point is, KK is his own man & he has made a decision. Let's respect it.
He's always been a stand-up guy w me, so I would assume at some point, if he feels compelled to do so, he'll release his own public statement as to his decision. Orrr, maybe not. I really don't know.
I will miss him.

Fuck I hate all this negativity this has produced, it pisses me off and sorry but it makes some fans seem so so demanding where I believe we should just be grateful KK shared his gift with us all for so many years. I'm not going to bash the band just because of what's going on - I'm going to wait for a full explanation of the KK situation before I make any judgements. I honestly don't see the point in deriding Priest because of this, yes it sucks, and it has probably been a known fact for a while, but known for a while or not to me it makes no difference. KK has retired, but Priest will continue on with their last tour. It would have been so so easy for them to say 'fuck it, lets cancel our shows' but they haven't. Maybe I am just an optimist, but I'd rather be optimistic than shit all over the band I love above all others. Just my opinion, but I hate negativity (although I understand why) and slamming a band for something that was going to happen sooner or later anyway (meaning one, or all, band members retiring). The timing sucks, but if Priest come down to NZ, I will be there no questions asked.

I'd say that they have known for quite a while. Just how long? I don't know. And yes, if they sold all those tickets knowing about this, that is VERY slimy!!
I'm to the point lately that nothing seems to surprise me. Things have been going so shitty for the last couple months that I've become used to shitty news and people not doing the right thing.... I don't know how KK can just walk away. But if his heart isn't in it, then I say farewell. It's better to replace him with someone that WANTS to be there then to beg him to stay and have him drag everyone down. Just my thoughts at the moment.....
[Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Head banger from Wednesday, April 20, 2011 2:12:52 PM) | | Head banger wrote: | | if they knew, and sold people tickets without telling them, then thats a slimy move. sure the band is 80% of what we thought, but 80% is not the same. the new guy might be great, but lots dont want a replacement. they should have learned that in the ripper years. at least then we all knew it wasnt rob.
| | HOT ROCKIN' METAL GODDESS wrote: | | This gives new meaning to what Rob said when they announced the Epitaph tour in Dec. : "We have more to say but we are going to let this settle first....." THIS was the other thing they had to announce - yes, I believe it's been in the works that long. |
