Hey Ron...do you know what update you installed?  You would be wise to boot the PC into Safe Mode (hit F8 repeatedly before the stupid Windows loading screen comes up and choose Safe Mode using the arrow keys on your keyboard).  Once you log into Windows, go into the Control Panel, and choose Add or Remove Programs, click the show updates box at the top and find that update.  If you don't know what update you installed, you can also try Last Known Good Configuration from the DOS window that shows up when you hit F8.  Let me know what happens.

Oh hell yeah..... my piece of advice... if you hate humidity make the trip in early spring (september / August) or Autumn (April - june)... Brisbane kicks butt... beaches are good here too. I would love to go to Perth.

Brisbane?- I have family on both coasts in Australia... aunt and uncle in Perth, and aunt and uncle in Brisbane.... I've never been, but need to get going....
[devils_child] Monday, December 08, 2008 7:35:33 PM
Yeah every city in Australia has a reputable Irish pub (Some have several), which always overflows on St Patricks day..... Half the people in the pub are Irish... how i love living in Australia... no lack of English/Irish/Scottish around here - and we all love our drink.
My Pub is O'Malleys, it's underground so it has this perpetual gloom, the smell of Beer and of course all the cool Irish nostalgia hanging on the walls.
We also have an Irish club.. it's pretty ritzy - haven't visited it yet, and a pub called Union jacks.. it's got a little bit of everything U.K
Best thing about Irish pubs..... PINTS!  and not to mention Irish beer you just can't get at other pubs.

Mexican and margaritas...sounds great!!  Can't say that I've ever been to a true Irish Pub, even though I do have some Irish blood in me from my father's side.  I do my best to show the Irish in me on St. Patricks Day here in the States (I don't think it's celebrated world wide??) by eating plenty of corned beef and cabbage and chasing it down with plenty of green beer!!!  (one of a few days of the year I make it a point have drinks!!)

Why Thankyou! I can't wait.... I just got a text message from my brother quoting Metal Gods (nothing out of the ordinary..lol)... And telling me he got my birthday off work... and a *wink*...  We're going out to hit the Irish pubs in the city. I'm having mexican and margaritas with my mum and dad this weekend because they have to work on the wednesday. Party time.... excellent.

Well then, let me be one of the first to wish you an early HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Seeing my family was first and foremost on my 'to do' list, but finding a way to get back on board here before the Holidays wasn't far behind!!  In a way it's an early present to myself!!
I hope you find some work soon, I know it has to be tough on you.  But like you said, at least you've got family!!

Awesome.. You've got a niece who wants to see the Priest! Good to hear you got to see the family and have holidays comming up. Well as for me.. currently out of work.. so damn depressing, It hasn't been easy finding work but i keep at it.
I'm looking forward to getting together with the family for my birthday which is next wednesday, then christmas, I love this time of year. Everything seems to slow down and I'm able to catch up with family that I don't get to see very often.
I have to say the same as you.. it has been hard lately, but I am very greatful that i have family who help me out.

Work...Work...and Work!!

It was great to get together with my family over Thanksgiving weekend. One of my neices I hadn't seen in over 5 years. She's 17 now and thinks it's cool her Uncle Ron is a Metalhead and a Priest Fan!!! She want's to go with me next time they're in town, and I think that's pretty damn cool!!

This is the last week of work for me 'til Jan. 5th. An early Christmas present from Ford Motor Company...thank's guys!!!

My daughter is graduating High School early, in January. She'll be going to IUN in the Fall and will work and go to Vocational during the Spring. I couldn't be more proud of her than I am right now!!!

All in all, as bad as things get, there's still a hell of a lot to be thankful for.

What's been up with you??
[devils_child] Monday, December 08, 2008 5:54:09 PM
Yeah she dissapeared one day, I replied to a PM and then nothing.... I miss her antics... the Sinful Thread just isn't the same without her...  Good to have you back here finally Ron... so what's been happening?...

HI DC and Vail!!! It's great to be on with you all again!!! Not sure what happened to Lana, it's been a long time (for me, anyway) since I've been able to chat with anyone other than WW. I hope everything is fine with her, poor girl has had a lot go against her this year. I hope next year is better for everyone!!!
[devils_child] Monday, December 08, 2008 5:19:27 PM

...... Don't you just hate the southern hemisphere this time of year... not sure what the temp get's like in Sth Africa but here... I don't know what's worse, the blazing sun or the humidity.
If you can get your hands on a kiddy pool and a shadecloth or if you have and shade in your yard you can let the kids entertain themselves that way. I'm an adult and i still have fun with the kiddy pool....  It seems to be the thing to do here in Australia... every second house has one. They're cheap and can be packed away when finished with. Throw in a few pool toys, water pistols... etc... the kids will get exercise and it will keep them cool.

Hi, Joe!!

I have an idea!! Buy a puzzle!! You and your kids can spend lots of time together completing the picture on the box!!! Put some music on and it's a party!!! I should know. I used to put 1,000-piece puzzles together while listening to the radio, and eventually to Judas Priest.

Hi, Ron!!! Good to see you again!!!

Hi Michael, I hope you make you're way over here as I cannot write a PM. I can only post using the old 'standard version' as I don't have an up-dated computer and it won't allow me to do anything but 'Post'. I can read PM's, but that's it.
To answer your question, my CPU automatically installed a 'Windows Update'. After it downloaded, the CPU went into 'Configuring Updates' mode. After that the CPU shut down to 're-start' , which is normal. However, the CPU failed to 're-start' and started to 'Configure Updates' again. Now it's in an eternal loop of re-configuring, shutting down and then re-configutres again. That's all it does. It won't let me re-boot or anything!!!
Now, I've put together this monster of out-dated parts to get me to at least ck e-mails and make simple posts, but that's it...AND I'M GLAD TO HAVE THAT!!!
I've missed all my friends here terribly, and 'sorry' Deep Freeze, but I don't have my spell check anymore either!!! (lol)
[ron h] Monday, December 08, 2008 3:23:34 PM
Hi there folks!! I know it's been awhile. but like most ppl, I have run into issues of my own. Right now I have put together a combination of parts together to build what I call my Frankenstein Computer...it looks ugly but it's getting me around!!
[joedraper] Monday, December 08, 2008 2:48:09 PM
Feck! What a day!

It's been so hot that I have no idea how to combat this heat. We've had the airconditioners on all day. It's 10:43pm now and they're still running. Zoey has moved back into our bed because our room is cooler than hers. But she takes up the entire bed. As little as she is, she decides who lies where. She spreads out so that she's untra-comfortable and we have to try to fit in around her little behind lol.

Friday is their last day at playschool and it's so hot that I can't let them play outside. I'm not too keen on propping them up infront of a TV all day but we run out of games or activites and then I have no option. I can only let them out after 4pm sometimes only after 5pm.. It's that hot!
Anyone got any ideas for me?

Hi Paper...... I can relate! Went for a 4 mile run this morning... very cold weather... 10 degrees. Probably didn't stretch as much as I should've and got home... took a nice hot bath.Stretched out on the sofa to watch a litte TV and write Christmas cards. Got up after a half hr. and I could HARDLY WALK!!!! My knees and hamstrings were totally frozen!

Good job with the race, guido!

Ouch, I can't walk either. Three weeks ago, I'm on the treadmill doing the usual 60min uphill walk and my knees decided they would like a vacation. Time to see the dr.

A fine Sunday morning to you all. SO very good to see Necro again! My friend, I am so glad you are back! And I know what you mean about resting on Sunday. For me, Sunday is the best day of the week. I love it. It does not matter what kind of week I have, Sunday is always a day to relax and reflect.
[kiamat] Sunday, December 07, 2008 7:04:03 AM
Good for her, Necrotist.

Seems like I've missed a fair bit this week- its been my schools production of Les Miserables.  Six performances including two on saturday...
I was working backstage, costumes, makeup, more makeup (I appear to have dyed my fingers orange again) its been great but I'm not sure what to do with myself now its over. It is (was, even) my last production at school

But it was great by all accounts, lots of people saying how professional it all was and at the end I got a special thankyou from the cast onstage and a bottle of wine, which was so sweet- I'm going to miss school drama and music more than anything else there.

What a wonderful testament to our favorite Band that they have such a fantastic fan base! Simply amazing!

Thanks, guys. Not the photo I am waiting to see (I didn't run with a camera) but one of me trying to boost those energy levels right after the race. Coming in the Pic of You thread.

The one I am REALLY waiting for is the one of me crossing the finish line. You know I ran with that Priest cross. Scariest thing was when they said no headphones as this is a Boston qualifier. GAAA!! Run without Priest?!? NEVER! Of course, I snuck mine in.
