Two questions for you Deep Freeze: 1) Are you an english professor? (You're extremely knowledgeable and articulate! I like it.) 2) If someone says "Where are you at?" Are they dangling a participle? I used to have fun telling people to be careful, they were dangling their participles. Some would even look down. Ah Nicky, my friend. Here, at last, we must part ways of the mind! While in today's view it is considered "acceptable" to use a conjunction to begin a sentence, grammatically it is NOT encouraged. Beginning a sentence with a conjunction tends to lead to one of two things; run-on sentences or short, choppy ones. It is also terribly informal. Now, if your intent is to address an issue with informality, it is acceptable and has reached the point where it is very prevalent in today's writing. The old adage, "Know thy audience" applies in this case.
In the 1600-1700's, it was perfectly acceptable to use a conjunction to begin a sentence. As language developed and people became more aware of education, vocabulary and social status, the use of conjunctions to start sentences was thought to be poor grammar and a lack of proper education. It was also believed that English was inferior to Latin and should be changed. This lead to certain "rules" that really are not necessarily rules at all, but more like positions of thought. While it was noble, in thinking, to adapt to a more "Latin based" form of language, English is actually a decendant of German and so many of the "rules" simply do not "fit" in a technical sense.
The same holds for ending a sentence with a preposition, although that one is far more important in MY mind!! Many times, words thought to be "prepositions" are really an adverbial particle (part of the verb) and, therefore, not really prepositions at all. Verbs can retain much , if not all, of their properties when used in certain contexts.
OK then! I have made my statement on the matter. What is acceptable and what is proper are far different things, depending on whom it is to which you are speaking.....HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joe, very thoughtful and moving post you wrote there for us. Thanx ! Thinking of you and your close ones, and wishing you the very best
And Guido, yes, one can fully standardly start a sentence with "and" :
7.
(used to introduce a sentence, implying continuation) also; then: And then it happened.

So that sort of wraps it up for the moment as far as my concerns are concerned

Have you ever used one of those exercise balls? I had one when I was pregnant last and I got one for my birthday. So I decided to use it, thinking nothing of it other than it would be fun to use in between cycling/gym sessions. So I did a quick 40 min workout on it and went about my business. That was Monday.. I"m still stiff! Who'd have thought! So this leads me to believe it is an excellent piece of equipment!
Oh and please, please, please.. do the ostrich pic for me.. pretty please, this girl is in need of a humungus belly laugh!

I really don't think it matters one way or another. I mean, "date joined" is far from important. We all know one another and how long we have been here. Perhaps it is a good thing? It might give the new members a little less pressure. I think the real focus should be on how many FRIENDS one has. THAT is an important statistic. That is really where you can judge the value of someone on this site.
I also think the number of "ignores" should be dropped. As I have said many times, ANYONE can click "ignore" but the "friends" button is a very, very selective thing.

Hey thats cool man,I've never really been into live albums either,Unleashed In The East to me is the best live album ever even if it was doctored up in the studio or whatnot,I still think its the best live album,I also like Live Evil Black Sabbath 1982 but of course Unleashed is best. But other than that,I really don't care for live albums that much.
I never was grasped by Nostradamus so I'm still in the Angel Of Retribution mode and it feels like its been 5 years since they released anything new to me,so I am really wanting a new album but I think they will be working on it later this year but then again they may do a Nostradamus tour and if that happens,a new album will not be out until 2012 I'm guessing,by then I'll bet you'll be craving some new Judas Priest! lol!
