there are those who truly love everything the band does. great fans
there are those who like a lot of what the band does, great fans
there are those who talk as though the band can do no wrong. not sure what they are. fanboys, starstruck, deaf???
a fan has the right to like of not like the album as they chose. I wont buy the album if they read their grocery list. I dont like nost, I like turbo though. we are all different, and will all voice our opinions. those who say that we cant say negative things, are wrong.

Over an hour and a half of soft,ballad-like tracks was not my idea of fun when I listened to this LP.
Sad,bummed out and confused is more what I felt. Everybody has an opinion and mine is not "valid" to say that mine is right,but what I can say is that the Nostradamus album was not "Judas Priest's style". For the life of me I can't understand why this band feels the need to "do something different"? If they do not like thier original style/sound anymore,than maybe the band should think about hanging up the leathers and playing golf from here on out,that would be fine by me.I would rather see them retire than keep putting out albums like the experimental Demolition and Nostradamus. |

Yeah hellrider,I'm with ya!!! If I did'nt bash the band alittle than I'm nothing more than a "fan-boy" who says everything Priest does is 100% awsome regarless of what it is.
There are fans that would even like a Priest album even if it sounded like Green Day...I am not one of those fans..I want the best out of Judas Priest and the best is what they do "best'....

Admittedly the only thing reminiscent of 70's Priest I found was the tempo change in Death. Other than that, nothing. Don't get me wrong, I love Nostradamus and while some complain that it's too different, I actually find that a good thing, not a detriment. At the very least they're not continually resting on their laurels album after album... that's what we have the wannabes for (just about every power metal band who wishes to emulate Painkiller every time). However, when the tour and all that is over they should know when it's time to put the thing to rest (a common mistake that many bands make, it's been ten years and Iced Earth still hasn't given up on the Something Wicked thing, as much as I love those guys).
I'd be curious to know what it would sound like if they did at least ONE true thrash song, complete with the triplets and thrash beats and all that... hell, even a breakdown or two. With Halford's highs and the awesome twin leads I could see it being a fucking amazing tune.

Yeah I know your right, but I still can't stand Turbo. lol! I'm not here to convince you of not liking it,its just that its like food....my taste buds can't handle Turbo...I just spit it out each time! What bothers me is that Priest experiments from time to time(Turbo/Demolition/Nostradamus)and takes sooooooooo long to record another album.I understand they tour,ect..ect..and have certain obligations but they leave traditional long time Judas Priest fans waiting for another "normal" type of Judas Priest album and it sucks waiting that long. Even with Ripper Owens...they release Jugulator in 1997 and wait 4 long years only to put out the less than average experimental album"Demolition".
Then of course Rob comes back which takes a couple years to sort things out(4 years)and they put out the excellent LP "Angel Of Retribution"....only to wait another 3 years to release once again an "experimental" album(Nostradamus).Now with the band at around the ages of about 60 years old....do we have to wait another 5 years for the next(possibly the last)Judas Priest album? I hope not. I do hope that thier next album is not "experimental". Different is not better in almost every case.

Well thats your opinion and mine personally is the direct opposite. I love Demolition, it is another great Priest album. But everyone has different Ideas and opinions and that is what makes music so great. 10 people can listen to a song and get 10 different opinions about it.

I think it would be an exciting moment for me to cover the tracks that my mate Tim ["Ripper" Owens] worked on while he was with the band. So again, anything is possible. Each time when we put a set list together, it gets increasingly difficult because we've got so many songs from so many records that we just have to look at the set list and figure out what the favorites are and go from there. Again, PRIEST fans around the world are always putting ideas upon what they'd like to hear us do, but I think it would be kind of fresh to pick maybe one or two tracks from both of those records and just give it the Metal God touch.

I wasn't dissing RID i was just merely stating that was when i was born and stating that unfortunately i never saw them live in the 80's. I love the two Ripper albums dearly and Sin after Sin, POE has 5 great tracks on which are, Heading out to the Highway, Hot Rockin', Desert Plains, Solar Angels and You Say Yes. The rest are ok but those tracks i love. I do need to listen to Sin after Sin more though i reckon!

I would like to see some "experimentation" on the next album. In other words, I want KK to whip out the wah-wah pedal, He used in the 70's and on the Ripper albums. I am just sayin it would be cool.
I would love to see some of the Tim Owens material performed live also, a Halford style Bullett Train could not be that bad. I think it would be Great.
Recently I have been listening to some Priest albums that get pushed to the side most of the time. Turbo, Point of Entry, Jugalator, Demolition, Sin after Sin, and Ram It Down. They are all great albums, but the most under rated album has to be Ram it Down. I know that Ram It Down is regarded as one of the worst Priest albums, but thats being compared to other Priest albums. That is some stiff competition if you ask me. Ram it Down is truly a hidden treasure. Yeah it has a drum machine, yes some of the lyrics arent that great, BUT Rob's vocals are perfect here, the guitar work could not get any better. Listen to the song Ram It Down, the solo is just killer. Hard as Iron is another great. Something with some awesome heavy-ass drumming but back to more melodic solo's, more memorable occasions such as, Beyond the Realms of Death, Rock Hard Ride Free, Touch of Evil and Demonizer.
