Nah, its not that painfull. Not anymore than the usual drilling and filling is. Just ask for anesthesia, and it should be fine.

If you want to know real pain, dont go. A week or two, and you will be in hell.

Ron,  my sinsere congratulations on what you and your family have accomplished. Your daughter truly has two of the most precious parents in the world. Your whole family is an inspiration to any parents out there. Married or not. You managed to do what every parent should do. Put your children and their futures the first priority in life.

Your story is touching, heartwarming and just so filled with love and positivity that there is no way anyone can read this and not share in your joy and pride.

I am so insanely happy for all of you and especially proud of your daughter for being so dedicated to her education and making you the proud parent that you are today!

I would like to thank everyone for their warm wishes and thoughtful comments...I know everyone here is from different backgrounds and ages, even countries, and I must say that I'm a bit overwhelmed by it all...it makes me happy to see with all the differences we all have, education is not lost!!!...that is what I am taking away from this day, everyone here knows how tough it is, and I can't thank you all enough for sharing this wonderful day with me!!  She looked beautiful and happy tonight...a lot of family made the drive with me and met her mother (and what I still consider my family) there...14 of us all told...It's been a great experience...hopefully sooner rather than later I'll be able to post a few pics of the events tonight...

Becks...America is no different than anywhere else, the medical profession needs all the help it can get at all levels, a wonderful field to be in.

Strat...we will celebrate this event the way it should with lots of family and friends, a grand celebration!!

Vail...hopefully we'll be seeing you on the Weather Channel very very soon!!  You've been working so hard yourself!!

Metallark...Thanks for the kind words...happiness and knowledge are both under rated these days!!

Spapad...She'll always be daddy's girl, I know...but as I watch her become more independant the older she gets, I just get a little emotional about it...but you're right, I know it in my heart.

Once again, thank you all for taking a little time for me on this special day for us, you all are wonderful, and it makes me proud of this Board and the quality of ppl here!!!

[spapad] Thursday, June 04, 2009 8:49:41 PM
Ron, your support does not have to ever end. Just because she's 18 doesn't mean she won't always be your little girl. Support her in future education just like you made her get throudh highschool. Concerned parents always get the job done! Never give up and in a few short years you'll be looking at a graduating R.N. who will make alot of money and always have her parents to thank for keeping her feet firmly planted on the ground! Then you will be bursting with pride at your daughter who can tackle the world!
Congratulations Dad! And Mom! It takes two working together, no matter the differences to make a happy, well adusted person! Bravo!

Just jumping in (late, as usual. Am sorry about that) to congratulate Ron and the new graduate... I dont know how it goes in the US, but if its anything like here, then I hope you will take the opportunity to enjoy yourselves to the max.

Wow Ron, fantastic! Congratulations on your daughters graduation! It sounds like she wants to head in to a very interesting field at university too - if the US is anything like here, medical graduates of any kind are always in demand and get paid very well! It's also very very rewarding work. All the  best to her!

Yes, I do understand. Debt is a cancer, my friend. But take heart! You can beat it!  The only debts I owe now are my home and car! I have NO other debts and I never will. One CANNOT create wealth when one is buried in debt. That is a fact. You can beat it but, of course, it takes time and THAT is a story for another day...

Well, unless something out of the blue happens, I will die with debt, most ppl do unfortunately...I don't want that to be her (Brianna) concern...unlike when we were kids, even high school fees are out of this world these days...but, as you are well aware of, us parent's always have an eye on the big picture, it's getting our kids to look that way that's hard to do...but it's amazing the things that can happen when we're all on the same page!!!

Ron,
My advocation and support of education is well documented amongst these Threads. I must offer my most sincere congratulations to your daughter and a special "well done" to you and your former wife. Yours is a tremendous feat and a testament to good parenting, for being a parent does NOT end when divorce enters. Parenting is a job you accept for life. You are a special individual, as is your ex-wife. I commend you both. Please pass along my best to ALL of your family.

She's very fortunate.  What has always been important for me is to have her understand that a solid career provides independance in life.  Among other things is the freedom to not be stuck with some jerk out of necessity, whom ever she chooses to spend her life with, it will be her choice.  I've seen and deal with so many women who are stuck with someone because they don't have any working skills and are therefore dependant...and you know good and well what dependancy leads to...

yep, all are in high demand for sure.  my niece is a RN, did several 16 week temp stints in US hospitals, filling in.  now works in the ER in her hometown, which unlike some of the big cities she worked in never sees a gunshot wound.

She hasn't made up her mind yet...she has choices.  It will be in the medical field, but it can range from a dental hygenist to a Nurse to an MD...she don't know what she'll enjoy the most yet, though...I think she's leaning towards the Dentistry field (I think she's obsessed, in a good way with her teeth)...I do know that potential earnings is not a deciding factor for her, as all are in demand...so she wants to be sure that whatever she chooses, that her hearts in it.

Well, to say I'm 'giddy' is a gross understatement.  I was up and down all night long unable to sleep in anticipation of this wonderful day.  Today is the day that my only child, my daughter, graduates from High School!!  This may seem as no big deal to some, but for me it is a great success story.  As with a lot of children in this age of divorce and split families and all the animosity that goes with it, her mother and I, for the most part, made her and her education and future a priority.  Among the many choices we made since our divorce was the one we made when she was in 7th grade to take her out of our local school system and we all moved (separately, of course) 45 min. away from here to put her in a better school and away from a lot of the gangbangers and crime that seem to run rampant in most every city nowadays.  Living between Chicago and Gary, IN isn't a picnic, so we moved to the 'boonies' for her sake.  She was starting to ditch classes and hang out and all the other stuff that goes on at that age and it just got to a point where I was having to leave work early everyday to pick her up 15 min. before everyone else was let go for the day.  At first it was really hard because she lashed out with such a verbal barrage against us, refused to even try to make friends (we made her break contact with her old friend's as they were just as bad as she was).  She hadn't always been like that, but the attention she got from the boys her age (11, 12, 13 yrs. old) was new to her and she didn't know how to handle all these changes.  For us, it became a nightmare.  The good news is that she eventually realized that we were'nt going to give in to her and she either had to get her priorities straightened out or it was only gonna get worse.  She found an interest in clinical medicine and discovered that her new school had programs geared towards secondary education and careers.  She is now graduating with Honors, is already a liscensed CNA, and will be going to college in the fall.  Some father's can't wait 'til they don't have to pay child support anymore, I am now at a stage where I dread the fact that she won't need me anymore.  But today, I am the happiest Dad in the world!!!
[Deep Freeze] Monday, June 01, 2009 12:17:18 PM
Well, if there are seats or space closer to the stage than we are sitting, you guys will have to take them and leave me behind. Not really able to "squeeze" in amongst the ravenous hordes like I used to be!
[HOT ROCKIN' METAL GODDESS] Monday, June 01, 2009 12:13:44 PM
It really depends on the venue - some are stricter than others. What I can't figure out though is why does the venue care if I take pictures when the band performing doesn't care at all and actually comes closer if they see your have a camera? And I'm with Guido - there should NEVER be ANY open seats up front at a Priest show dang it!
