2800 may be the MSRP, but any GOOD dealer will work from MAP. Most KV2's retail around 1,899 give or take a few bills, but doing better than 2800 should not be difficult at all..

Thanks, I love it!! Am having abit of a time adjusting to the EMG`s, they do sound great, but seem to lack some top end, I`m experimenting with some things to try and solve that issue.

Go to your local music store and negotiate a cash deal.  Retail is much better than the MSRP!!

And Guid`s, Ken is still waiting on his black one to arrive (see the steel mill), so I`d be willing to bet I would still be waiting also!!! But hey, when they become readily available, I`ll buy one and trade you for ...you know what?????

Joe
SDB is right about the custom shop. Just for grins and giggles a few months back , I submitted a custom build to Jackson and ESP. Both were over 4  grand and the only difference between what I submitted and what I now have was the pickups and the fingerboard. I opted ,then, for the Duncan Distortion and the Duncan Hotrails, with an Maple fingerboard. Jackson actually came in slightly cheaper than ESP. But both listed nearly a year before delivery.
As for binding, as mentioned ,strictly cosmetic, but it does enhance the look of the neck.
So far, I like the EMG`s, very high output, not a high as in distortion type of output, but in signal strength.
As far the Kahler, good units, but I`m addicted to the Floyds after all these years.

[SDBinNY] Tuesday, April 28, 2009 12:31:39 PM
i'm telling you,Joe, what  you are looking for is nothing worth paying the custom upcharge for. Your best bet is to buy a black KV2 and make the hardware and electronic changes yourself. Fender owns Jackson now, and their custom shop orders start around 4 grand, so you can save more than the cost of the new hardware. If you do it as soon as you get it, you can always Fleabay the stuff you take out and recover some of that investment as well.

If you are looking for specifics about the KV2, let me know and I can post any pics you request. I have a KV2 and can get you shots or info on anything specific you want. They still come standard with medium frets, despite the info on the Jackson site (because any changes haven't made it to retail stock yet).

I know I was just wondering what the hell the point of it was haha.

I'm gonna get a through neck body, 81/85 EMG combo (still not sure about that), might get that EMG EXP or whatever the fuck it's called EQ switch, 24(it's not a real guitar unless it's got 24!!!) fret maple neck (ebony fretboard), alder body I think, sharkfin inlays (just cause I like them a little more), a 2300 Kahler Tremolo system most likely (still looking into different ones like classic Floyd's too), solid black paint job and chrome hardwear. Oh yeah it's a King V too haha.

Basically it'll look like this, with hardwear, knobs, and pickup differences. But this is the basic idea:

[guitardude] Monday, April 27, 2009 1:27:10 PM
Well, I am glad you like it!!    So what will it be boxers or briefs??
EMG`s are smokin, but can`t really tell much of a difference when I toggle between the neck and bridge. Have only played it thru my Pocket POD and my son`s little Fender G-Dec, so I need to score a big amp .

And the budget will recover soon enough. So buyers remorse should be minimal.

HOLY CRAP !!! The flame on that top is drop dead gorgeous !!!!

VERY VERY nice score.... Glad the headstock matches, that really sets it off.

The EMG's sound phenomenal in my DK2M, and the 85 in the neck position oozes earthy tones.. How do they sound with the maple top?

I hope it doesn't screw the budget up too bad, Fender just had another price increase, and it seems to cascade to the secondary market.  Besides, you have no idea the mess that beauty has created here... You owe me a new pair of shorts my friend !!!!!!

[TIMBONI] Friday, April 24, 2009 10:57:55 PM
Well, that's true.  Everyone plays other people's songs for a while.  But if you're up to it  .  .  .  write !  To me, music is all about expression and communication.  Why would you want to communicate someone else's feelings ?  Something I have always loved to do is to turn on the radio ( especially when KNAC was still on the air ) and ignore the vocals.  Then I would just solo all over it like it was my personal backing track.  Every time the song changes, you have to change with it.  The key changes, the tempo changes, the type of emotion changes, etc.

Doing basic bar chords can be frustrating, as they don`t really follow a riff. But, they can be helpful teaching you the feel and basic sounds in a particular key.
I can`t read sheet at all, just tabs, and even that is limited as I always tend to loose my place!!

Ok. The Green Laminate Flame. I went for an oldschool (martyKroft) Glow Death vibe. THe black was cheaper but uavailable. But i wouldnt have went black anyways. I bought it for the wood. And for the slick neck jackson feel.

well as the story went, the US distribitor for ESP had received 800 guitars from Japan. That is why they told it was in the country, but apparently the LTD M-1 wasn`t part of the shipment. I believe they are bull shitting me also, but what can I do? They have several Jackson`s (new and used) and the new production Charvel`s in stock that I can walk out with.
They have this specific guitar on the wall, but for 1.5g`s but I really want it!!! They also have one with EMG`s

It's not like the rep put any effort into it, either. I'm more than certain that Musician's Friend, Sam Ash, or any other chain has a few in stock and they would gladly return part of their stagnant inventory than let is sit and depreciate...

The rep really poked your pooper on this one, and should have put some sort of work into it....
[Head banger] Monday, April 20, 2009 6:03:45 PM

FFS didnt they tell you once they had shiped it.  I hate it when people lie like that.  they could have told you up front that you would wait till june, and you make your decission.

I had a car dealer tell me that the toyota camrys I had ordered were delayed due to storms in the pacific delaying the boat.  fine, except, they are made in kentucky.  how the fuck did they get on a boat?

OK, finally, an answer anyway!!!!
ESP has pushed it back until June, this is not acceptable to me so I have arranged to go in this weekend and select something else.
The dealer also offerd me a equal trade , so when this thing does show up, they will give me what I payed for my alternate  to trade for the M-1. Not a bad deal, but I see a Jackson or Charvel in my near future!!!!
[guitardude] Sunday, April 19, 2009 6:39:10 PM
I think it`s both ESP and my dealer. Esp should`ve been able to produce it asap after ordering it and my dealer is mostly a second hand dealer with the coolst inventory you could imagine of older and vintage model equipment. They weren`t there Saturday afternoon, sign on the door said"Gone to Guitar Show"!!!
So off to Dallas I went. Didn`t see any of them, talked to a guy at the ESP booth and he took my info.
Aside from that saw some good playing. But Lynch was no where on the schedule, he must have cancelled??!

I never really got into playing other people's songs.  I did the cover thing when I was in high school, but after that it was all about creating to me.  I would concentrate on developing your dexterity.  After that, to me, it's about taking the essence of your favorite players.  Not necessarily copying them.  You might be surprised at how good your own music can be since it will always mean more to you than someone elses expressions of themselves.

Thanks for the link. Is there a part 2? I'd like to learn the rest of the song. The original tabs looks too hard (barre chords). I downloaded the power tab file from ultimate-guitar.com and it sounds a little funny.

Seriously, I gotta call some serious BS on this one. ESP is a friggin HUGE company with almost limitless production capabilities. It's not like they have Tibetan Monks chewing the body out of a solid tree in the Himalayas...

I would surmise that someone seriously dropped the ball or your dealer has credit issues with their supplier....

The Floyd`s are a pain in the ass for sure. Tuning them after changing strings is a lesson in patience.
If you`re going to get a custom shop Jackson, go ahead and get the Kahler. they have more  adjustability and are easier to set-up and use.
I`m addicted to the Floyds myself, but after all thses years, I`ve learned a trick or two about them.
Ibanez has a couple of better versions of a Floyd and they work beautifully!!

Floyds are still good if you get an Origonal Floyd, a lot of the modern musicians don't like them because setting them up for low tunings is a real pain. Kahlers are another option to consider, but you will have to have a Floyd type nut installed.

Oh, one of the biggest issues with the Floyd seems to be the sustain block. A few of the people I know who have them have ordered a brass replacement for it and all of them say it makes a WORLD of difference tonally...

Okay I need some opinions on this since I'm eventually gonna get a custom built King V someday.

What is a good tremolo system to get? I always hear Floyd's suck dick now, and all sorts of others are better. I haven't got a clue. Anyone wanna PM me or just post it here?

Nah, really doubt that...no one seems to believe me. I suck at it! LOL.

I have owned guitars for years but consider myself a collector.

I also appreciate the advice. While I still absolutely stink, I'll take any and all advice I can get as I "plink around" with my two powerchords. LOL!

Have to admit that I grip that sucker with a clench that would rival that of a WWF pro.
[guitardude] Wednesday, April 15, 2009 4:36:52 PM
Good advice SDB, relaxing is critical. I used to catch myself with a death grip on the neck and would use way to much pressure while fretting.
To break myself of this I forced myself to play without putting my thumb behind the neck.
I would place my thumb along side my index finger.
The cramps this caused were horrendous, but it helped me learn to relax and use a lighter touch.

Seriously... PRACTICE. PRACTICE. PRACTICE some more. The more you play, the better your dexterity will get. Make sure your hands are relaxed, squeezing too hard will give you major problems...

Hi guys! I am (still) a beginner guitar player and would like to play something someday.  What is the easiest song in the entire world that a complete idiot can play? To date, I am completely stumped by Iron Man, Crazy Train, Sweet Child of Mine and Smells Like Teen Spirit. Maybe I need to trade the V in for a drum set?

That was my question also!! The store i bought it from has all deliveries go their main location and then each store has a runner that goes there to pick up items that have arrived, plus this includes one day for set-up.

Hey JD
To respond to Guido`s comment, those Hamers are amazing. The action is better on them than any guitar I have put fingers on!! The Phantom really amazed me as it`s action just simply could not be any better!! the Vector had a much wider neck then the Phantom, but it`s action was amazingly low as well. It made my BC Rich( now sold) look pale in comparison and I thought  it had good action!!!
The Phantom could really spoil a player quickly!! I`ve been scouring E-bay frequently looking for one since August.

I`m back!!
We only did Disney, not Universal. The Aerosmith coaster was down! But I did ride it in 2004 while there. We did a dining plan there so our choices were strictly at Disney, hell that`s the way to go , we took a boat load of cash and come back with most of it still in our possession!!!!
We did all the parks open to close everyday , man am I beat!!! My boys held up very well considering they weren`t accustomed to the amount of walking involved!!

As for my guitar, still not here!!!!  Called the ESP rep while at the store this afternoon, and he said he would check into it!!   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by SDBinNY from Saturday, March 14, 2009 7:18:13 PM)
