Don't hold your breath headbanger. It's not so much that people will learn (as those in question who are defending Brittish Steel are probably not capable of learning much) but if it makes them better people subconsciously that would be an improvement. Plus those who have supported the band and seen these silly Brittish Steel songs for years will benefit if Priests steps up their current live set. Those issues seem more important than having those simple people "learn" about music. Both Rob & Glenn have said that the almost 3 hour Nostradamus set will not have an opening band. I'm sure you missed that but you can start making plans for a family night of Hannah Montana. We definitely don't want you at the venue talking over the masterpieces on Nostradamus or spilling your light beers all over the place while we are trying to enjoy one of the best shows ever.
Ron please don't take it too personal I am sure you are knowledgeable in other areas but some of the others who just "found" Brittish Steel should not waste commenting until they are more knowledgeable and can do more than quote mainstream reviews of this Brittish Steel that they read in Wall-Mart or in Rolling Stone comparing it to "other Metal Classics" like Deep Purple's Machine Head. And why would I want to jam out to a car? Yes Ron, it was unanimous-Everyone in my area who was a Judas Priest fan before Brittish Steel was disappointed with that release. As I mentioned before it may have been different in the deep suburbs of Oklahoma. By the time we heard the solo for Headin out the Highway for the first time, we burst into laughter and began playing it left handed. I like it better now by the way but it is quite simple and dumbing-just get a good tone and play it cool.
Spandex? Brittish Steel is what many people think of when they hear the word spandex. Perhaps you are the pot calling the kettle black? Are you going to wear them to the show? Also, maybe those red pants will be back on stage for this Brittish Steel tour. It would be only fitting.

WOW, could you be any more rude and patronising? Seriously, there is no need for that bullshit.
I am not sure why you are comparing Unleashed in the East to Priests studio albums, either. Of course a live album like that is going to be 'powerful' because it contains all the raw emotion of performing in front of an audience.
And for the record, your statement about British Steel is the FIRST time I have EVER heard any Priest fan say they and their other friends who are 'fans' dislike it. It's a classic, period. A lot of the heavy metal released these days doesn't come close to that album in terms of musicianship alone, never mind any of the other factors that make up a heavy metal album.

Don`t worry Ron, it seems that my comment bothered him/her a lot. It`s sad when people don`t show any respect for what musicians do. Some people don`t know how difficult it is to make music and remain at the top for more than 30 years. Few bands can accomplish this, just the best.
I know everybody should express freely in this Board. We all have different opinions and that`s valid. There's no need of offending others.
I`ve checked out all Priest discography, thanks! The albums before B Steel are just as powerful, if you haven't been able to check them out, do so!! | | chileansteel wrote: | | Both albums are excellent. In the first place British Steel is a very important album in their career which includes "Breaking The Law", a metal hymn, absolute classic, one of the best tracks in the history of heavy metal. Nostradamus is a wonderful album Priest are really proud of. It`s their most ambitious project to date. An album that shows their versatility and experience as musicians. They dared to do something different within the genre and most important of all they did it from their hearts.
Both albums would be great live. Priest always kick ass live, the shows are awesome, they never disappoint me. Looking forward to seeing them in Chile again!!! |

Pardon me???? I was just wondering how well you know the band??? And who it was that really didnt want to do a Nostradamus tour right now at this moment??? Ill give you a clue his initials are G T.????? This band has nothing to prove Nostradamus or not... They have been there and done that,,, They are regular people just like you and I, and maybe want to do something fun and for themselves,, like a Anniv tour... That is what KK said anywase..
Not trying to ruffle any feathers, here but.. You cannot go by what you read in the media alone and claim you know everything..
Peace Out.

Further, you continue to refer to "we" as if you and those in your particular area are somehow better or more well-informed with regard to music and its viability. What is it that can possibly be "learned" from you? Poor spelling? Elitism? Unless one is royalty, referring to oneself as "we" is nonsense and makes one look foolish. Well done!
It is interesting that you are so very proud of those in YOUR area yet you (conveniently) do not say where that is... Clearly, it is a "hot bed" of musical superiority! Not much for educated conversation and polite dialogue but you surely know your way around an album, huh? Before you come to this site and begin a feeble campaign to insult it's members, perhaps you should take a few summer school classes in English? You certainly must have time as you cannot possibly hold down a job with such poor communication skills.

Very interesting, young man. It would seem to me that you fancy yourself some kind of authority on music, not to mention intelligence, based on some kind of logistical criteria. Unfortunately, your specious arguments serve only to expose you as yet ANOTHER trouble making "know-it-all" with VERY little substance and less education.

Ron, shhush. lets sit back and learn from the almighty Keyd. clearly far more knowledgable than we will ever be. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by ronhartsell from Tuesday, June 09, 2009 9:03:00 PM) | | ronhartsell wrote: | | Keyd, I wrote Heavy Metal, not just Metal...No, Led Zep is not Heavy Metal nor is Deep Purple, nor is most of the music put out before British Steel...I'm not sure where you get that so many albums are considered Heavy Metal?!? I was 14-15 yrs. old when it came out, so I pretty much have been around since before the term Heavy Metal referred to music. Keep in mind that we are all offering opinions here, so for you to refer to us as simple idiots is petty and juvenile...1980 was a great year for Metal, alot of great releases that year, I guess it's what one's definition of Heavy Metal is...and I don't really consider any band to have defined what Heavy Metal ultimately turned out to be until Priest released Hell Bent for Leather, and then took it a step further with British Steel in '80. Sure, Motorhead was faster and Sabbath was darker and Maiden, well, they didn't release their first 'til '80...UFO, Saxon, ACDC, Aerosmith, Foghat, Thin Lizzy, Bad Company, Foreigner, Cheap Trick, Montrose...the list goes on for those late '60 - 70's band's...none of which defined Heavy Metal as we know it today but Priest!!...FYI, I love Nostradamus and I agree with your opinion of it...but that is for my home, not headbanging for 2+ hours...no way!!...doen't mean I wouldn't go see it, 'cause I would, but I would be in a different frame of mind going in!!! | | Keyd wrote: | | B.S we don't want the classics included this time. We have seen them numerous times to death already. Plus Nostradamus sounds like it was done by a different band. One that is more technically advanced and deeper in feel, experiences, & intelligence. These shallow-simple-surface "hits" you call classics would sound a bit inferior anywhere in a Nostradamus set.
Ron anyone who calls Brittish Steel the first Metal album wasn't alive in 1980 or they were over 80 in 1980. So many albums have been "labelled" the first metal album. These statements are made by simple idiots who feel the need to label things to make it easier for them to confine them to a little box. Is Led Zep the first heavy metal band? Deep Purple? cmon! Ron you may be getting too old but with Nostradamus you will have time to recover after a much faster and more intense headbang than you will get with the slow dumbed down 4/4 of Brittish Steel. Headbanging with Nostradamus or opiate nodding and lighter waving with "United".

And that's your opinion...that's cool...but you don't go ridiculing and demeaning those that do like it...and that's what separates men from boys...and why you get the respect you do!! Keyd...speak for yourself!! I, as well as most of the fans I knew, weren't disappointed with Priest 'til Point of Entry was released. Why don't you go to your closet, put on your spandex jumpsuit and jam out to some REO Speedwagon or something, and leave the Board to those of us that actually want to make friends and talk about good times and Judas Priest without demeaning and ridiculing everyone who doesn't see eye to eye with you!!
