Bud! Glad to hear I'm not the only one really liking Till the Day I Die! I love the lyrics and message of 25 Years, but something about how he sings the chorus bugs me. I don't hear Silent Screams in it at all, I just don't like how he sings the line 25 years and I can't seem to get past it. But The Mower and Speed of Sound are two very kick ass songs and I can't wait to hear them live And I have no problem with your opinion at all and I agree that everyone needs to make up their own mind. I'm just getting sick of all the negativity. This kind of review, good or bad, I like because it explains why you do or don't like something.
And yeah, fork over the cash and support THE METAL GOD!! [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Budred from Tuesday, October 05, 2010 5:56:25 AM) | | Budred wrote: | | I've been kind of negative towards this album so I've decided to go the other way.
.
1. "The Mower" ...freakin' badass heavy metal song...love it
2. "Til The Day I Die" ...love the changes...love the vocal style...love the lyrics...may become my favorite
song on the album
3. "Speed of Sound" ...fast and heavy...love the vocal style...very good song
4. "Hell Razor" ...Very good song...i like it
5. "25 Years" ...if i would stop hearing Silent Screams i could love this song...we'll see
6. "Made of Metal" ...if it weren't for the lyrics...maybe i'll get past that...good song otherwise
The rest will require more listening. If I come up with anything positive I'll post it.
Lastly, everyone has to make up their own mind, don't let it be done by others. Oh yeah', buy it, don't steal it.(LOL)(Seriously)

Hi Soccer Star! I agree, I loved Resurrection! I fell in love with Rob all over again with that album. Listen to Made of Metal and form you own opinions. But my advice is CRANK IT! The first couple times I listened to it, I really got that '80s hair band feel..... I think it's because Rob's voice is about 3 times louder than the music or it's over-produced or something. When I CRANKED it up, I realized that it isn't as '80s as I first thought. It's got a lot of drums and guitar work that I didn't hear the first couple times around because they were too much in the background either that or the damn subwoofer cut out again and I didn't know it! I just added "Like There's No Tomorrow" to my running mix. I love the message of that song - make the victory your goal and I really loving singing it. Hope you like at least some of the album. Let us know. I like that stuff too so don't go by that. This sounds nothing like those albums. I think the Two
CD has more good songs than this. Other than the homoeroctic pictures it beats this album hands
down. Before I go any further I would like to stress that this is my opinion and it only matters to me.
Listen for yourself and make up your own mind. Come back and tell us what you think.
Positive or otherwise. Peace!

I've just listened to the album again all the way through and I must say: "What a disappointment". 14 tracks on this album and I like "none of them". The only part of any of this that I do like is the vocals on the one song "Hell Razor" as it does sound Priest-like but the chorus absolutely ruins this song, blah this album "sucks".
Songs like 'Fire And Ice" reek of a rip-off from power metal bands like Hammerfall and Blind Guardian whom I hate anyways. I really don't like any of these songs at all,at least Resurrection had 2 that were ok: "Resurrection" and "The One You Love To Hate" as I hate the rest of that album,Crucible I liked almost all of it, all of the Winter Songs album totally blows and now this lame album,I don't see how anybody can get into this record, but whatever floats yer boats I guess.
Boy,Priest better come up with better material than this tripe or it will be a sad day listening to the new Priest album. A totally huge "SIGH". |

I thought about that after I wrote it but it was too late to delete it. I really am struggling to get into this album though.
I only like 4 or 5 songs so far and I hate some of the song subjects. I try to get into 25 years, I dig a cool ballad now and then but
this sounds like a ripoff of Silent Screams. I like Til' The Day I Die, and, Painkiller is the last thing on my mind when I think of
new Halford or Priest. I want Heavy Metal from those guys and that can involve many different styles of songs. The Mower
is my favorite song because of it's heaviness but I don't want an entire album of that. My problem with this album is too many
songs like ...Fire And Ice
...We Own The Night
...Heartless
I love Judas Priest and I love Rob Halford so I hate ripping them and I definitely am not trying to antagonize anyone. (Shit) was
a little much and I do apologize for that one. Peace. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by HOT ROCKIN' METAL GODDESS from Saturday, October 02, 2010 7:46:53 PM)

I'm really getting into Till the Day I Die. Love the Southern Rock style turned metal and I love the lyrics in it too. But I've always had a wide range of musical taste and that's why I LOVE Priest. If I wanted to hear the same thing over and over again, well, I wouldn't be here! For those who only want Painkiller, this is not the album for you. I love Rob's voice and he sounds great. He doesn't have to be constantly screaming for me to like a song either. I was hoping it would be a heavier album but I like it. And CONGRATS to Rob on 25 years of sobriety in January!!!

diehards would rip me. Rob can still sing the songs it's the songwriting on this album
that I hate the most. Also too many songs like Fire and Ice and Heartless. Those kind
of songs put a pit in my stomach. I like (heavy metal) not shit like this. The Mower is
more my style and like you said it's out of place. Maybe after a few listens my mind
will change. It's not like that's never happened before(LOL).

Now, then. On to the subject at hand: HALFORD IV!
So far, I'm digging it! I enjoy all the songs up to Hell Razor (my all-time favorite so far), with Matador and Twenty-Five Years being the exceptions after it. The sports ones I can handle. Don't like Boxing, NASCAR, nor Bullfighting, but still. The music and that general theme of competition leaves me asking for more. 'Til the Day I Die is another good one. Love that bluesy beginning.
Thunder and Lightning sounds (to me) like a filler track. I Know We Stand a Chance is okay (not a favorite). And as much as I like The Mower, it seems out of place in this album.
Rob's singing is phenominal. He sounds as though he's singing at a comfortable range and isn't exerting himself too much. Others might call that a lack of effort, but in this case I disagree. He sounds great!
Overall, I give it an 8/10. Not as great as Crucible nor Resurrection, but enjoyable, nonetheless. |

That's why I don't like Thunder and Lightning. It feels like a re-hash of the same ideas used in Fire and Ice. Basically, "We're like this and that and because of it we'll always be there for each other" and so on.
