Happy Friday to all the metalheads here! Too much work to do. I really need to take vacations more often though. Though I plan to take time off to see Iron Maiden in June up in Phoenix and then in July to see the Scorpions before they retire.

Your philanthropy is inspiring, joe. Its good to try to give back and support whenever and however you can. We are playing a benefit in July. No pay. We are doing it as our way of supporting as well. The feeling of trying to help is payment enough, no?
As I menitioned a couple days ago, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! See your doctor regularly. Get the proper exams. Most importantly, DO WHAT YOUR DOCTOR TELLS YOU!! That is something I simply cannot wrap my my around...people that ignore doctor's orders!! Our guitar player and drummer are both like this. They are told about certain health issues and figure they just won't go back to that doctor! ....?????!?!?!!??!? *YEEEESH*
I know it can be difficult to do what you need to do, especially if the problem is not immediate or it is only potential. I ask ALL of you to please, please look after your health. Cherish it. Ron, I do not know you but I can't help but to be saddened by your post.
Words won't help so all I can say is be strong, time heals (somewhat).
Take solace in the fact that you had a relationship with your father. I've
never even seen a picture of mine. I was thinking of him yesterday
strangely enough. I was trying to figure out how old he would be if he's
still alive. He would be 86. Dealing with this is something time can't heal.
You deal with it regularly because you're always wondering. Be glad you

He was blessed with a great son who loved him dearly and I'm sure you being there for him in his last moments must have made him feel safe and secure enough to let go. GREAT memories, ML. I remember seeing RJD and Rainbow in Calif. many, MANY years ago. I was just blown away by the sound of that booming voice coming out of such a tiny man!!!!! HA!!!!!!!!!!! I just thought that the Laws of Physics were being defied in so many ways! The great thing about him is that he is in that category of vocalist that is unique, like our beloved Rob. You KNOW it is him when you hear him, no matter what the circumstance.
I am sure that, as a vocalist, you have a special affinity for RJD and those that are like him. The "gift" that is his special talent is something that cannot be taught, nor learned. It is something that one cannot buy. A synthesizer cannot replicate it and it is never quite copied by even the best of "tribute" singers. THAT is such an incredible thing. It was Rainbow opening for someone whose name escapes me. Why? Because Rainbow and this little singer name Ronnie James smoked from start to finish. One of the all time greats!

Morning, folks. Bit of a somber day I see. So sorry to hear of the loss. Dio will always be one of my greatest inspirations. Seems like it is always tough to lose one of "our own", as it were. I often think about the Priest boys at a time like this. They are getting up there in age and I worry about that day, which we all know will come, and how we will handle it. Facing mortality is never easy. We deal and we move on.
I think this is a reminder to all of us to be vigilant regarding our health. There ARE things we CAN control, guys. As I mentioned last week, I had my annual check up. I just now checked my blood results and I am happy to say that my levels are all normal, with the exception of tryglicerides (fat in the blood) which is really not surprising. The therapy for that is...you guessed it, LOSE WEIGHT! HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!! As I said, not surprising. Overall, I am thankful that I am pretty healthy. Good cholesterol, good pressure, etc. I don't drink. I don't smoke. If I could lay off the buttter and frying oil I would likely be as healthy as ol' Guido!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!
Take care of yourselves, people. It is not all that hard. There are things we all can do to ensure we are living longer and feeling better. I would really hate to lose one of you!

I saw a band yesterday called "Heart Live" and I could've sworn it was Heart! The girls looked just like them and they sang spot-on! I was stunned. There are a couple Van Halen acts here that are like that. With me, Priest is not an option. I suppose I look enough like Meatloaf to do that, but I cannot sing like him......HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning!! What a freakin night!! Went out to see a friend's band play and it was a blast! Tiny little place and all punk rock but it was fun. Always good to see old friends and support the "live scene".
Of course, I am completely spent this morning. I think I slept for four or five hours but that's about it. *yeesh* Feeling pretty run down but, oh well. Going out to FEELGOODS tonight. Its the club Vince Neil created here in Vegas. There is a benefit show for the Las Vegas Fallen Officers. We're going to head out and show our support for awhile. Not too sure HOW I am going to do THAT but, we'll see! HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

Well, I'm finally getting some strength back. Oy! Tough last couple days! Looks like all is well. I must say, it is so gratifying to see that all is calm and friendly here when I am away! Well done, all.
Trying to stay calm HERE as well. Saw the doc yesterday for my annual check up. Blood pressure and whatnot is Aces! The regular blood work is later this week but I have no reason to believe there will be anything to report! For some reason, that man is not meant to know, I have been blessed with remarkably good health despite my rather "unhealthy" way of life over the last fifty years or so! HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing. If not for my weight, I assume I would be some sort of medical miracle. In any event, all is well and life keeps on keeping on...

Man it sounds like things are a bit messy with the election over there Kiamat! We always end up with a shit fight here, cos of the MMP system we use - I think the UK uses the same system. All sorts of stupid coalitions get made, and if it's a very tight coalition, sometimes the majority party gets held to ransom over issues by coalition partners, all sorts of nonsense.

Becks, I cannot stress how insanely jealous I am- the past three times Metallica have come to the UK I have either been unable to make the date or unable to get tickets. I hope you and Craig have a really really good time! Whatever people say about them, you rarely hear bad things about their live shows these days.

Well, I have to go- second rehearsal of today (this one for a choral concert on Saturday). Hopefully a touch more optimistic than my Early Music Ensemble rehearsal this morning, where we received the sad news that our cellist is leaving us to go study in Ireland- she will be much missed .
Now I've put that, I've realised what an uncool musician I am next to you guys. Still, being a music student is all about being a geek- we know it and we don't care!

My friend, PLEASE never resort to self-deprecation when talking about your music!!!!! I admire and respect ALL that work to learn music, play instruments and be a part of the world of music in general! There is no such thing (to me) as an "uncool" musician! Further, you are young and will only progress and improve as the years go by and THAT is WAAAAAAAY cool!!!!! You have my sincere respect!
We play mostly covers (Rock and Roll!) As anyone that is in this business will tell you, doing covers is about the only way to get paid. Its nice to play your own music but there is very little demand for it in the real world. We do throw a few originals in and that is very satisfying. I love seeing the crowd's reaction to MY music! It's wonderful! However, we play about 95% covers (including some Priest!) and that keeps us working and getting a paycheck! There's a fine line between trying to stay "true to yourself" by pushing your own songs and actually getting money to play. There's really NO money in recording and selling CDs unless you have a Label that wants to sign you. It simply does not work, period. Once your few family and friends buy a CD, it all goes away and BELIEVE ME, recording is expensive!!!!!!!
We will never get rich but we work regularly and get to play music. We also get to write and play a few of our own songs and that is great. It is a lot of work but it truly is a passion. Well, I have to go- second rehearsal of today (this one for a choral concert on Saturday). Hopefully a touch more optimistic than my Early Music Ensemble rehearsal this morning, where we received the sad news that our cellist is leaving us to go study in Ireland- she will be much missed .
Now I've put that, I've realised what an uncool musician I am next to you guys. Still, being a music student is all about being a geek- we know it and we don't care!
See you all around. Will be spending the night in the union bar- or at least until we find out who will be in charge of the country tomorrow...

Hopefully they release a new album Hellrider. I reckon whilst they're on a break Glenn and KK should be writing some killer guitar riffs, and while Rob is in the zone touring with Halford he should be writing some kick ass lyrics, bring them together and there ya go, a heavy metal monster from the Priest!!!

I know I have said this before but I find that I am ONCE AGAIN in awe of the mighty Priest and other acts like them! I have no idea how they do it night after night! I know the adrenaline flows like crazy while we play but the next day is absolutely debilitating. To be their age and play over and over, night after night, week after week is nothing short of remarkable. And to do so with such power and style. Jeeeeeez!!!!!!! There's more than one reason that they are THE Metal Gods!!! Remarkable , indeed.
