GOOD MORNING EVERYONE. AND WHAT A LOVELY MORNING IT IS. EARLY DEPARTURE FROM WORK TODAY. A LONG WEEKEND OF METAL, BBQ AND BREW. AND WHEN IT IS OVE LESS THAN A WEEK UNTIL THE PRIEST COMES TO TOWN FOR TWO NIGHTS.

I hope to have a good day as well, I've reached the finals of my school's music competition (on piano) for the first time (and last, now I'm leaving) so thats this evening. Its a bit nerve-racking, I injured my arm falling off a horse last weekend and for a few days its looked like the whole thing was off- still fairly sore but I can get through the piece and hopefully won't make too much of an idiot of myself...
Then tomorrow off to Belgium with the string orchestra (I play the cello too) and choir for a four day tour, playing in the cathedrals- muchos painkillers needed!
Have fun MG! Bring back some pictures for the sinful thread (if you're allowed)

Should be heading down to the beach after breakfast but the Princess is still fast asleep so I have NO idea when that might be!! I will try to locate a place that can put our pics on disc today. Should have some great stuff. I fell asleep around quarter to nine last night and awoke to the sound of fireworks! We looked out off the balcony and a HUGE fireworks display was going on out over Mission Bay!!! HA!!!!!!!!!!!!! We snapped a few pictures of THAT,too. It lasted about twenty minutes so I am assuming it will be a nightly occurence.

Heya everyone! A nothing day here, I have work this afternoon, then hockey practice tonight - I don't wanna go! LOL!
I will keep an eye out for that magazine Joe! It sounds cool!
I sort of have the same problem as you do in regard to fills and solos. Those exercises (solo 1 2 &3) they help to sort of regulate that especially if you use a metronome whilst practicing. The notations on the net are horrid! I agree that writing them out in your own music book is much much better. I don't know if you get Drummer or Modern Drummer magazine where you are? They usually have some great exercises in the back and usually a song or two. I seriously recomend the Pearl kit if you are unsure.. you'll love it!
Becks wrote:
Timing is my thing I always need to work on too! An earpiece metronome sounds cool. I admit when it comes to drumming hardware I am a novice, I just want a standard kit to start with and I'll take it from there haha. With timing, whenever I am playing a wee solo and a fill comes up, I almost get over excited and go through it a tiny bit too fast LOL! I'm finding it so hard to find any good notation too, what I am going to do is by music sheets and try to write some Priest notation myself by ear, and by using Rock Band (as strange as that sounds). On the expert level every drum note is used so that may help. Figuring out what time signature songs are may stuff me up though LOL!

I can't wait for you to get an acoustic kit. I am very happy with the Pearl Vision series. It is excellent value for money although there are so many good kits out there. Noooo! You cannot banish it to the garage when it comes! What's wrong with the living room floor? lol j/k. If you very worried about upsetting neighbours/spouses with the volume you can get those rings that go on the drums to mute them? like studio rings? Or you can get those jazz type drum sticks the ones that have brushes on the ends. You just put a hair band around the brushes so you can still hit the drums and it sort of mutes the sound enough to keep the neigbourhood off your back lol. I am very fortunate that my neighbours are either very tolerant, very deaf or I just can't hear them when they bang on the door to complain.
Becks wrote:
Heya Joe! Sounds like there's some bizarre albums at your house, LOL! How's your drumming coming along? As long as it lives in the garage is the only condition I think, LOL! Electronic is good, but I want something to bash on properly!

Quite the contrary, people are getting dumber as proven by general aptitude tests. I guarantee the generations who came before us thought the same about our own "dumbing down" of society. Perhaps we are lowering standards? Anything above mediocre is now "excellent?" You are hearing this from someone who chose not to have kids? Nah! Couldn't be! HAAA!

Not picking on anyone here rather I am thinking of my own sister who says the exact same things about my nephews. I wonder, then, why aren't we smarter as a whole? Quite the contrary, people are getting dumber as proven by general aptitude tests. I guarantee the generations who came before us thought the same about our own "dumbing down" of society. Perhaps we are lowering standards? Anything above mediocre is now "excellent?" You are hearing this from someone who chose not to have kids? Nah! Couldn't be! HAAA!

He asks where the box is,, and Chris ( Dad) says I threw it in the Garbage...
Erik rolls his eyes get up from the table goes out in the garage, gets the box, ( which is full of dirt at this point) and says to his dad infront of everyone... You see what he has done to my box I wanted to save... Then looks at his father and says to him,, Next time before you do something like this again you could have the courtesy of asking me first.. Hi there Kiamat...sounds like you a bit of a rough go at it growing up. I went to grade school with a kid who had epilepsy and there were a number of things he wasn't able to do because of the seizures. I'm glad to see you have a bit of sense of humor!!! When was the last time you rode a bike?? Maybe you can test the waters on some backroads before heading out into the public strrets, just to see where your at...comfort level wise. Good luck to you though, it's great exercise and it sure beats walking!! When arm get's better, give it a go and let me know how you're doing!! Good luck to ya!! Cycling is something I keep thinking I need to get back into, everybody at Sheffield Uni seems to have a bike and I would take mine, but I'm hopeless at riding on busy roads. I had epilepsy as a child so I wasn't really allowed out on the roads on my own, plus I first learned to ride in the Channel Islands, all those hills and dirt tracks mean that I've developed a sort of death grip on the handle bars which makes it impossible to signal without falling off...
Not that I can ride anywhere until my arm is sorted (a non-cycling related injury!)

I'm reaching out to all the fans out there that live in or near NH. Aug. 23rd date in Gilford NH does not seem to selling very good. Couple possible reasons is (1) this site has not posted links to purchase tickets and (2) tickets are sold directly from the venue and not through Ticketmaster or LiveNation. Here is the link http://www.meadowbrook.net/ Please let's help out of metal gods and get tickets or spread the word to family and friends who may be in the area. This is a really nice venue and I'm sure everyone would enjoy it!

Not that I can ride anywhere until my arm is sorted (a non-cycling related injury!) [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by ronhartsell from Monday, June 29, 2009 5:12:10 AM)

I had the camcorder going and you can hear him saying to his dad 'you can let go now'. Everytime he fell off (mostly when he wanted to come to a stop) he'd just get up and get right back on again. He rode past me and said 'mama I'm a big boy now'. I started crying because of a mixture of realizing how fast he's growing up and being very happy at the same time.

Monday, Monday
So good to me.. NOT!!
lol
Ok so I'm starting to take these 'mishaps' a wee bit personally now. On a good note, it's not thursday so maybe the 'thursday curse' has passed but last night our washing machine decided to stop working. So with a load full of wet washing we needed to manually drain the machine, hand rinse and do the last bit of washing by hand. Zakk had to go to school with no socks on today because the boy seems to enjoy changing socks multiple times during the day. He goes through a minimum of two pairs and he's a toddler? At least he has good foot hygiene lol.
On a very proud note.. my little angel was finally confident enough to lose the side wheels on his bicycle yesterday. He was so excited that he could ride without falling. He just needs to perfect stopping and starting now lol. Once he's going though he's unstoppable. Now his little sister wants her wheels off but seeing as she's only three I think she'll have to wait a few months first. Amazing how they always want to do what the older one is doing?

Blegh, humidity is the killer (so to speak lol) I reckon. Dry heat is easy enough to deal with, not sticky yucky heat. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Sunday, June 28, 2009 7:17:50 PM)

Ha...well, a "cord" (can't cut it into a chord! LOL!) is a unit of measure. I suppose to answer the question...yes. I'll have multiple cords. However, for a bonfire as I have some 8 more in storage for the fireplaces. Most of the trees on my property are blasted "gumball" trees..."sweetgum," iow. Burns with a ton of smoke and throws off very little heat. Here I have to burn every couple of weeks out of need. I'd be swamped with wood otherwise.
Yeah, Becks, it is freakin' HOT!!! 7pm and still nasty hot and humid.

Hi becks,, sounds like the weather here,, we had trees knocked over, 70 mph recorded winds last nite,,, the poor guys in the fire dept were out with the power company all over town last nite and today.. Blocking off streets ect, to fix power/phone lines.... Its a Mess... Now its raining,,, and today was supposed to be a nice day..... Phooey on that!!!
Maybe tomorrow, it will be nice,, we have a 2nd tree up rooting by the alley, that has to come down... I liked those trees there,, dammitt... I hate that.. the ground is just saturated with water and the roots of trees are flooded, so when the high winds kicked in last nite alot of the trees came down..
