I plan to use their stage time as Happy Hour! LOL Will be taking a cab back to my friend's house, so I  don't have to worry about that part.
Not that I was worried, I would have liked it better with just the two bands, but what can ya do!

Chicago is a beautiful city! Swam in lake Mich a couple times, man it's got warm and way cold pockets in it's shallows.

Not according to the venues web site, just Whitesnake...won't matter anyhow...gonna schedule that Monday off work, get myself a nice buzz going...throw on some comfortable clothes and take Lake Shore Drive head'n north, which is an extremely beautiful drive near twi-light and on the ride home, it follows the lake shore from north to south...you have the lit up city on one side and the beautiful lights reflecting off the lake on the other...hypnotic even...I'm not even gonna care, won't ruin my night one bit...hell, I almost feel as if I'm there right now!!!  If that shitty little band ruins my night, at age 42, then I didn't prepare myself properly for the show and I ought to just give up going to concerts all together

Enjoy it guys..so many highlights I can't even start...Simply brilliant!  Yet again Priest remember their fans and play for them in cities most of the bands forget about!!! Example Maiden, Metallica etc..when did you last play Belfast???? Bastardos!!!! PRIEST RULE

Well, I get the chance to see Priest July 19th, a Sunday night at 7pm...the venue is at Northerly Island, which I've never been to.  It use to be an airport for private planes 'til 9-11...after that, the Mayor of Chicago (Daley) decided it was a threat and had bulldozers 'X' out the runways...What I really think I'm going to like is that it will be a hot summer night and the island is on Lake Michigan, should be quite a view...I've heard that the sound and sightlines (for all seats) are excellent...tix are from $25 (lawn) to $99 for premium as well as $30 VIP parking...depending on traffic, it will be anywhere from a 15-30 min. drive...no problem...really looking forward to it!!!  Now if they would only put the tix up for sale!!!
[tedzo] Monday, April 13, 2009 4:00:54 PM

Totally fkn stoked they are going to play here in CO at red rocks!

I don't think nobody was knocking the actual bands on this tour only the greedy arena prices. If anyone want to pay stupid prices for beer what looks lik piss then go for it.Only problem is people buy it  and the companies will sell it.
I do not know why a programme for the tour was available.I think it will be down to costing as printing prices ae not cheapThere could have been a poor programme sale on the last tour so they may have decided to give it a miss.

SueDalglish, I think there has been some misunderstanding Don't think anyone was objecting to the band making a living; indeed we all made that point and over the years I have never felt that I was ripped off by the ticket prices.  The Priest ALWAYS put on a great show and never disappoint-I always enjoy the initial mystery of not knowing where & when  Rob is going to appear on stage during the 1st number. What I do object to is the extortionate prices venues like the Bham NEC want to charge for a soft drink.....................and a plastic glass of beer that tastes like piss.  Not sure why there were no programmes this time round, does anybody else know ?
[spapad] Sunday, March 08, 2009 5:42:29 PM

i was at wembley for the concert, and i dont care what anybody else moaned about bands selling merchandise, lining there bank balances or whatever fans want to moan about,i thought the concert was excellent.even megadeth and testament played solid sets.i thought the concerts was well worth the money, considering some people would fork out £100 to £1000 for barbra streisand or barry manilow,£40 plus to see your favourite band plus 2 very good groups as well.so for all those who moan about prices and wether the set list was good or not and playing the same songs, get over it.the only thing i was dissapointed in was that there was no programmes again.cant wait till the next tour they go on.

saw Priest in stockholm saturday, within an armsreach from Mr Tipton! Im still high on that! And Travis, does he ever drop his drumstick - ever, after throwing it in the air or flipping it backwards?
[astarup] Thursday, March 05, 2009 12:20:53 PM

I had a fantastic time yesterday in Malmø Arena!
Testament and Megadeth were great, as the day before, but Priest were simply brilliant!!
Same setlist still, but who cares as long as it is played so well. I was in the front row again, right side naturally :o) and IT WAS LOUD!!! Luckily I had learned from my mistake the day before and bought some earplugs ... yes I know Rob, Im not a true metal fan if I wear them ... he he
Glenn was in a great mood, THANK YOU GLENN for making it such a night to remember!!
There was a few mishaps (?) like the sound guy playes the intro to Helion a couple of songs early :o) But it was fun that not everything went like clockwork!!
PRIEST RULES - no one else comes close

[Vinther] Wednesday, March 04, 2009 9:47:36 AM
Was at the same show as astarup. It was great, Testament and Megadeth did a good job, but Priest was fantastic! The setlist was the exact same as last year, but I did'nt care. Priest had a fantastic show, and Halford voice was very good (on Painkiller however, he had some problems). The best songs were Death, Sinner and Rock Hard Ride Free
[astarup] Wednesday, March 04, 2009 3:12:56 AM
Last night my friend and I went to see Priest Fest in horsens, Denmark.
Testament didnt have a very good sound unfortunately, Megadeth was great, fantastic, played their hearts out.
PRIEST WAS PHENOMENAL!
Rob was singing at his best, and in a good humorous (?) mood, talking at/with the audience and singing his heart out.
He said that Priest had now played for 38 years and they are still pissed of ... ha ha ha ...  he was kidding.
Glenn and KK great as always, as was Scott and Ian.
They played the same setlist as already listed, however I don't know about the last 4 songs, as we had to leave to catch our train back to Copenhagen.
All in all a brilliant experience, I can hardly wait till we see them again tonight in Malmø, and no leaving early this time :o)

P.S. Sorry no photo's, I didnt dare bring my SLR and my friends camera went on strike ... We'll try to bring hers tonight.

Senior Rocker: I'll second Gibbo UK on the skulls. They look like skulls to me.

One of the students where I work saw the boys at Wembley and thought they were fantastic, it was the first time he'd seen them. He really went to see Megadeath, but thought they were sh*t. He's now a confirmed JP fan.

Now I have to talk him into leaving me the JP T-Shirt  he bought when he leaves the halls at the end of term

Nice one MetalDog, I think I speak for all fans in our area in thanking you for at least mentioning the Symphony Hall
to the band as a possible venue for Nostradamus concert.  Fingers crossed, cheers ! Have looked at your pics again and am struggling to work out what design Rob had on his bandana.

Gibbo, your point about Rob's boots being too big may explain why at times he seemed inhibited when lumbering around the stage, I thought maybe his boots came up over his knees which stopped him from bending them fully, but perhaps I am wrong.

I also agree for bands making money from merchandise, concerts and cd sales especially bands like Priest.Bands like ACDC and Metallica who just churn out crap an do a tour just to top up their bank account is out of order.
£2-00 for a soft drink It is about time they were sorted out,but if people still buy them at that price they will still laugh and rub their greedy hands.

Rob looked good in his bandana, his boots looked a bit too big

Metal Dog hope they like your pics.

Some seriously relevant comments by all re the venue/gig rip-offs.  I don't think I mind the band and immediate crew members getting my spondoolics even if the merchandise is also over the top price-wise; it's the hangers-on and all the other w*nkers who bleed us of our hard earned cash when all we wanna do is see our heroes.  The camera restrictions rule is just one big f*ckin' joke; there are usually enough press snappers at gigs to represent mags etc &  I don't think the band actually cares that we take personal pics; so wots the problem, its a bit over my head !

By the way Gibbo similar prices in Brum for a bottle of piss and £2 for a small bottle of tango - at least they did not insist we tip the pop into a plastic cup. Also £8 parking, a lot of fans were upset by that because it was supposed to include a bus ride in & back after the gig but we got pissed off with waiting for a bus so just walked over-took 10mins each way-parking should be Free when you have paid over £40 for a ticket.

Change the subject what did we think of Rob's bandana, couldn't quite make out what the design/logo on it was. SR. Edited at: Thursday, February 26, 2009 1:37:21 AM

Funny thing is......  It was not the band... that had this rule.... But the MTS Center.....  When I was back stage.. Both Kenny and Scott asked me If I took any during the concert they wanted me to e-mail them to them.. Like for the Steel Mill ect.. and I know Scott likes to have the pics out on his My Space.... When I told them about the camera rule... They were suprised..  And thought it was riduculous.. LOL...  Kenny thought it was not fair to the fans.. LOL @ Scotty.. Everytime I took a pic he had to check and scroll through my camera to make sure the picture came out...( Good Grief charlie brown) I think he had my camera more than I did...  ( Now I know who took the picture of the bag on the floor...LOL)  I got home and went to print some of them for my brother to take home.. and there was a picture crooked of the wall, a garbage bag on the floor...LMAO I think he had his finger on the button...LOL

Oh well Live and learn Eh guys??

On saturday i managed to get my camera into Wembley.I first tried by puttig it down the front of my jeans, bearing in mnd my camera is an SLR with 85mm lens. That did not work.I then tucked it in the back of my jeans. There was no ay i was going to get it through security.I would tell you but it would give the game away ...
At Wembley Arena they search all bags then frisk you.

You are allowed to take compact camera's in to concerts but not the SLR pro type with lenses.I agree this is BULLS**T.I only take them for sharing and not to sell on.

My Wembley pics were taken from high up in the stadium anyway.

FIRST THINGS FIRST!...THEY DIDN'T ALLOW DRINKS,BECAUSE THEY KNEW YOU WERE COMING!.........KIDDING ASIDE,THE WHOLE NOT ALLOWING CAMERAS IS A FU#$%NG HORSESHIT RULE MG,I THINK YOU'D AGREE...THEY CHARGE ENOUGH TO GET INTO THESE EVENTS,THEY COME AROUND ONCE A YEAR MAYBE!...IF THE FANS WANNA SNAP SOME PHOTOS OF THEIR FAVOURITE GROUPS THEY SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DO SO,YES?...AND FURTHERMORE IF ONE PAYS $400 TO GO BACKSTAGE AND MEET THE BAND,YOU SHOULD ALSO BE ALLOWED TO TAKE A PIC OR TWO OF YOUR OWN,IT'S EXTREMELY HYPOCRITICAL OF GROUPS TO SHOUT OUT HOW MUCH WE LOVE YOU ALL,BUT THEN TURN AROUND AND SAY,OH NO, YOU CAN'T TAKE PICS OF US...WE THE FANS WHO FILL THE SEATS ARE THEIR LIFEBLOOD,THEY SHOULD REMEMBER THIS. ...GOD KNOWS I'VE SPENT ENOUGH MONEY AT SHOWS OVER THE YEARS,SO IF I WANNA SNAP A SHOT OR TEN,I SHOULD BE ABLE TO...MG, AT THE TORONTO SHOW LAST AUGUST,I REMEMBER SEEING SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH CAMERAS TAKING SHOTS AND STANDING RIGHT BESIDE SECURITY PERSONNEL,HELL,THEY EVEN ASKED A FEW OF THEM TO BE IN THE PICS....STRANGE YOU HAD THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE....AND ALTHOUGH THIS 'NO CAMERA'
BS MIGHT BE PRINTED ON THE TIX,OR POSTED AT THE VENUES,I REALLY WONDER JUST HOW LEGALLY THEY CAN ENFORCE THIS,MY SUSPICION IS,IF YOU'RE IN THERE AND THEY SEE YOU TAKING A SHOT,WALK UP TO YOU AND SAY,"GIMME THE CAMERA",AND YOU SAY "I DON'T THINK SO"...IF THEY TRIED TO PHYSICALLY REMOVE IT,THEY COULD BE IN A WORLD OF TROUBLE LEGALLY.....BECAUSE IF THEY PUT THEIR HANDS ON YOU,THAT'S ASSAULT!....CAMERA RULE,OR NO CAMERA RULE!...SO TELL 'EM TO TAKE A HIKE!...AND THEN TAKE THEIR PICTURE!...

Here In winnipeg No drinks from outside the arena/Mts Center.. and no Cameras allowed.. I smuggled mine in .. In a empty pack of cigs..LOL  People that were caught taking pics during the show.. Had thier cameras taken away, and you had to go claim them after the show...  I would have loved to take pics during the show.. I had clear view of the stage...  But there were securiy giuards every 10 feet,,,,,, other than camera phones, which dont work that well inside the stadiums.. I saw 3 people, just around me get thier cameras taken away...  Boo Hoo  to that!

I didnt take mine out until I was back stage..LOL

They were also making people who were wearing chains ect.. or anything spikey/heavy metal -ish.. ( if thats a word.. ) lol.. Leave thier stuff outside to re-claim after the show.. They were worried people would use them as weapons...

If they didnt comply,, they were not allowed in..

they said they would alow a snack, but did not.  the beer line was 2 hours!!!  I dont know what the prices were, I went in the 40 minute burger line, good, on price point with what you get at a sports event.

You are right there Senior Rocker,it all boils down to money. It is the same in Sport, people getting ripped of at stadiums. The fesivals are the worst places to go now.In my early festival days at the Donington Monsters Of Rock you took your own beer into the arena. At the Wembley Arena they were charging £3-80 for a beer which looked like p**s.
It looks like the small venue gigs are a big no for big bands like Priest, but i still have little hope they might do them very soon.It is me who is boring you now

[Senior Rocker] Wednesday, February 25, 2009 6:38:19 AM
Gibbo your point about smaller venues is a valid one but I suppose it is not cost effective from the bands point of view and maybe we would not even get a "full" show or entourage.  The NEC in BHam, my nearest large venue,is one of the worst places, one big rip off - just doesn't do it for me & I have seen a number of bands there, whereas somewhere like the Civic in Wolverhampton, right in the middle of JP roots is an excellent hall.  Maybe its all about how much dosh can be made to cover overheads; sorry to be so boring................................no I'm not an Accountant!!.

I would have prefered a standing ticket as the seat i had was way up in the gods, only problem is my knees will not hold me up anymore. The crowd was great, saw a few getting carried out at the front. They burnt out before Priest ht the stage.
I do hope Priest play smaller venue's in the future.

Took some pics...........www.carlgibson.vox.com

I will try and post some more pics soon.

My name is Steve Noon you can contact me via my email - [email protected]. Just wondered if you got some good photo's etc. Cheers!!! As a lost my camera in the pub and the one on my phone was shite!!!!! One of you was wearing a Megadeth Tshirt and your mate was wearing Motorhead!!!! Also if any one has ant pics they could send us it would be most appreciated!!!!!

I'd love to see the Nostradamus show in London, I hope they will let "us" outside the UK know in time to get tickets and trips together!

I'm not sure Rob even got changed when he left stage. Glen and KK also kept walking off, what was the point in that?

I don't expect Rob to do star jumps and dash everywhere. but I'd rather he stood still than "prowl" aimlessly.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the gig, but Rob really needs to work on his stage persona.

Still love them though. Great band, great night,

Maz/DF very well presented comments from you both & I agree with a lot of what you say. Saw the boys this year at the Bham UK gig and my only slight criticism in addition to those raised by you guys was why did Rob keep leaving the stage so frequently to change? In my view it dampened the atmosphere in the hall.  Had Rob stayed on stage and interacted with the crowd more it would have maybe avoided the "quietness" of the fans in between songs.  Unfortunately I was in the seats this time round & you are not allowed to stand and loosen-up or you get ejected.  Bit strange being at a Priest concert & having to stay seated.

Some reviewers have passed comments about how quiet the Brum crowd were & I think this may have been a contributory factor.  That said I was not disappointed; they are STILL the GREATEST METAL band in the world and always leave me semi-deaf, satisfied and relieved of my metal hunger for a day or two. Rock on

Very interesting observations, maz. Thank you so much for the review.

So, they are still doing the same show from last year.  No surprise there.  I took special note of your comments about Rob. His "lumbering around". His "singing to the floor". The song on the "throne" bit. I recall the AoR tour in the summer of '05. Great show. The Princess pointed out to me that Rob still had a lot of passion in his face but he was showing his age. His movements were labored and, of course, his voice was good but not what it used to be. I remember commenting back then that age comes for us all and, at nearly sixty, Rob certainly could not be expected to bound about on the stage like a twenty-something.

In Vegas last year, and at a few other shows in '08, Rob was making comments that clearly displayed a sense of tiring. "The Priest is back...again", he declared. That stuck with me. "Again". I understand that he is getting older. I also understand that he has other things going on in his life. Could it be that he is tired? That he has reached that point where he would rather do those "other" things? I hope not, but I cannot say that I would be surprised.

The bit he does on the throne during the show is silly..for me. Campy. Goofy. I hope that it is meant to be this way. I hope they are not looking for a dramatic upswell at that moment in the show and, far more importantly, I hope it is not a sign of what to expect should they do a complete Nostradamus show. Someone said it was a "Spinal Tap" moment. I agree. When it comes to a Priest show, I much prefer them to keep to the music and avoid the theatrics. I do realize it is part of entertaining but, at their age, they are not really a "Gwar" type act. Priest is about the music. Honestly. I am fairly certain that the hardcore fans wll agree.

Went to Wembley . A pretty good turnout and an enthusiastic crowd

Didn't see Testament, but enjoyed Megadeth, although it took them a couple of songs to warm up.

Priest were great.  They started with Prohecy , one of the better songs from Nostradamus, ansd I have to say Rob's tin foil outfit was iinteresting and throughly 80's.

For the vast majority of the show Priest stuck to what they do best, good old heavy metal. Hell Patrol, Electric Eye, Painkiller, Rock Hard Ride Free, Breaking The Law, Metal Gods, Sinner etc. At one stage , Rob reduced the many people to gales of laughter when he was wheeled on in a chair by someone dressed up as a monk and sang The 4 Horseman. Strange, but you can always expect Rob to do something different!

Musically the band was as tight as a drum. Rob's voice isn't quite what it used to be, but he was still pretty good. I do have to say, I really don't like the way he lumbers around on stage. The continually walking from side to side of the stage or "singing to the floor" isn't a great way to interact with the crowd.

However that aside, it was a great show. Priest was far far better than in 2005 when I saw them in Hammersmith. Really enjoyed it.

Re:  Nostradamus  concerts, Rob Halford told me that Priest are keen to do a full performance of Nostradamus at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

No other venues were mentioned but who knows?  Priest at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham, England, would also be pretty cool :O)

I feel a long weekend in London coming on...

Oh can you imagine it... Judas Priest doing the Albert Hall now that would be something very very special.

Poked my head round the door of Symphony Hall when it first opened which was years ago can't remember how big it is inside. Symphony Hall would be nice though, home turf and all that

Yes, I'm with you Shirls - would love to see the lads again at Cardiff but in these recessionary times............

A night of Nostradamus would be awesome, I too am well into the album now, must confess to start with thought it was a bit odd for Priest but perseverance prevails -  I would love to see tham at the Symphony Hall in Brum but I suspect that maybe a bit too small a venue but the acoustics there is excellent.  The Albert Hall in London would also be awesome - give us plenty of notice for the event so we can save some coppers.  Priest rule

if I could afford to do Cardiff I'd be there tomorrow night. Unfortunately its a no no .

Really enjoyed Birmingham last Saturday, had been 18 yrs since I'd seen them loved every minute of it

And as for a Nostradamus night.... I'd so love that. I know there are some people who aren't keen on the album, but personally I think its a work of art

Just got back from Manchester. Cool gig!!

One problem though Priest had a electrical fault that seemed to take forever to fix. Waiting nearly and hour after Megadeth had finished.

Set list same as before.

Rob was on top form as were the other guys.

Cheers

Even better...I hadn't noticed but the person who released the bootleg included a scan of his ticket stub. I guess that LG / NEC question is all but solved if you look at it.

[guidogodoy] Monday, February 16, 2009 7:31:18 PM
I think I can offer some insight to that question, Bev. In one of the FASTEST things I have ever seen, I just now got the bootleg! Two freakin' days! Yikes! What turnaround! Take a look at the recording info: Band:

Judas Priest Date: 14/02/2009
Venue: LG Arena (NEC)
City/Location: Birmingham, England - UK Recording

Belfast - Odyssey Arena

Just survived the gig...Trust Priest to DELIVER THE GOODS....Saw Whitesnake last year with Def Leppard and ever you needed evidence of a singer that should pack up his bags it was Coverdale.  Priest brought an excellent support card to the part of the UK every other metal/rock act forgets....Testament set the tempo, Megadeth slayed the crowd and then Priest arrived and blew the fecking roof off!!  If you see one gig this year...DO NOT MISS THIS ONE.  Thanks to the band, back nearly to their best...I've seen them every time in Belfast since Painkiller and this was damn near the best.

Thanks my ears still bleed!

PEACE!
