| Ozzy was a pioneer of the metal genre, but as a singer Dio is obviously stronger. Dio has more of a range, but also has a stronger voice. Ozzy does have some singing ability, but it is surpassed with by Dio's vocals. |

Well said, Bad! Ozzy gets a dreadful and undeserved bad rap far too many times! People seem to forget that unique and unmistakable voice, (just like our Metal God Rob), like nothing anyone could ever copy! He's still one in a million in my book, whether he's an accomplished 'composer' or otherwise! And I have far too many great memories of my youth attached to his songs!

Dio on Sabbath's "Heaven & Hell" was Black Sabbath's greatest album. Dio's solo albums kick *ss. He was a way more versatile singer than Ozzy. Greater range, more personable stage presence and the best thing to happen to Sabbath. Ozzy was better with Rhodes and Jake E. Lee on guitar. The band Heaven & Hell was also slamming with a more daring vocal approach & sick guitar. |

| Ozzy is nothing without Black Sabbath. In Sabbath, he contributed NOTHING! Did not write music,
did not write lyrics, knew nothing about the technical or production. His voice was a match for the first
4 albums though; a miracle and Sabotage is my favorite. Ozzy only made it solo because his wife was a genius
when it came to selecting a great technical backing band and technical crew, as well as marketing strategy Geared to American listeners.
DIO is DIO.... Professional, mystical, and an all around much better talent! RIP. This man can really sing live!
As for Ozzy, I want my money back - worst show ever in 1985 - I was embarassed for him.

I would say Dios solo stuff was more consistant overall but Blizzard Of Ozz and Diary Of A Madman are better than any Dio solo album. No Rest For The Wicked would be on par with Dios best solo stuff too.

| well obviously classic black sabbath was ozzy so for my favorite singer of sabbath I would say ozzy but I do personally like dios solo stuff better than ozzys. Dio was a much better singer and a much smarter person than ozzy was. But that's no put down to ozzy cause his stuff was great too. |

I love both OZZY and Dio two completely different singers both great in their own right, i meet OZZY just a couple weeks ago in Toronto he was very funny!! I have been lucky enough to see them both numerous times its like comparing apples to oranges best left alone!

Apples and Oranges my fine feathered friends...I loved Heaven and Hell, I was a Rainbow fan and loved RJD's vox.
Technical Ecstacy and Never Say Die were terrible LPS. Ozzy's addictions and behavior even had the Sabs looking for someone to take the Oz man's place for the tour. Get real, Sabbath had been in decline since "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", some great songs here and there, not a whole collection though.
Black Sabbath and Ozzy parted ways and both were better for it. Sabbaths LPs with RJD are good solid A+ platters, sure there were a few stinkers over the years with very inconsistent writing for the Sabs with an assortment of vocalists, and the two Jake E. Lee projects by Ozzy had the same issues.
As a solo act Dio was pretty damned good...still after the second solo album it was proven he needs a strong guitar player to flesh out his ideas...ya gotta figure after working with Blackmore and Iommi the loss of Campbell was huge.
So while Dio was by far the better singer, Ozzy was his eaqual as a frontman when he was not screwed up. They each have their special charm.

Ronnie James Dio by a long way, even with Black Sabbath I prefer the DIO era because of his voice. Ozzy is OK but not in the same class as the Great one.
