I MYSELF WAS THINKING THE SAME THING ABOUT STARBREAKER! Scott could do an amazing solo along with the song, we all know he has it in him!  And I've also been thinking about the songs I haven't heard live (in person)... I've seen them everytime here in MN since '04/'05 ('04 was actually at Rock Fest in Wisconsin..) But none-the-less, I would love LOVE to hear some of the old material and see an old-style stage setup (Where's the thousand Marshall stacks at!?) The outfits... BRING 'EM BACK! All these guys are still lookin' killer, even after all they've been through.

HELL YEAH, BREAK OUT THAT WHIP ROB!!!! AND the "I've been whipped by Rob Halford buttons!! I myself asked for Jawbreaker as my one request from DOF, but that doesn't mean that I don't want to hear The Sentinel, Love Bites or Some Heads Are Gonna Roll (since I just heard Freewheel Burning, Rock Hard Ride Free and Eat Me Alive). I tried to pick songs that I haven't heard live ever before at a show or something that is my favorite of all time. VERY VERY hard to narrow it down to just 1 song per album though even doing it that way! Personally, I want them to do just about every song off of every album! I asked for Starbreaker with an extended drum solo from Scott!!! God I will be so happy if they do that!! COME ON GOD OF THUNDER - GIVE US ONE LAST DRUM SOLO!!

No way you are the only one. I'd love it (along with another fifty or so to finish out the set!).

Personally, I'd LOVE to see some of the old staging / outfits with some of their songs. Break out the whip, Rob!

when I heard that priest was working on new material I was extremely happy. I can't wait to see what they made for us. And I think that it will be a full album because I dont think they would leave us hanging on a few songs. Can't wait for more info on the new material and the tour.

Hey, I started this post, and I don't remember giving half you clowns permission to post here!

Alright, I'm just teasing you...

So, what do you all think about the January 26th news that Priest is working on some new material? Do you think they heard our pleas to at least release a few songs through iTunes or something?

I just want three special release songs--a goodbye present to us. A whole album would be cool, but three kick ass songs would be fine. Two Painkiller type songs, and one song like Victim of Changes or something.

I had to laugh at "nost, it followed some kind of progression but not priest" comment. I so agree.
I realize some here like it and that's cool, it's just not for me. I've never made it through the complete
album on a single listen, ever. The only song that I truly love off of that CD is "Alone".

I dont hate demolition, and I like Jugulator also, but they dont have the clasic british sound, especialy demo.  thats not the singer, but the guitar sound.  AOR did not follow that progression I get you, but the sound was more priest to me than those 2.  nost, it folowed some kind of progression but not priest.

P.S.
...I paid for Halford's new CD and the only Priest I ever downloaded was "A Touch of Evil Live" and
I paid for that also at Itunes. I will support bands I consider favorites.
[Budred] Tuesday, January 04, 2011 4:52:57 AM
I know that there are people on both sides of the fence when it comes to downloads. Originally I was against it but then I thought
about all the $19.99 CD's that I bought when they first came out. Then I thought about how concert prices got out of hand and all
the $60.00 to $100.00 tickets I paid for. Then I thought about how T-Shirt prices went from $10.00 to $40.00 or more. The parking
fees shot up to $25.00 at some venues. Because of this I feel justified stealing music. I've only recently started doing it but I plan on
continuing. I'll buy new Priest if it ever happens and I'll pay for Mushroomhead and a (few) others but otherwise I'm stealing it. I'll
give bands my money by buying concert tickets and that's it. No new CD's and no new Concert Tee's.
[Budred] Tuesday, January 04, 2011 4:39:06 AM
I know most people here hate it but I thought "Demolition" was one of their heavier efforts. I think Priest has always progressed and changed
with every album yet they maintained an overall "Priest" sound. I think "Demolition" was their progression towards a modern metal sound. I saw
that tour 4 times and enjoyed those shows as much as some of the earlier shows I saw. Then they get Rob back and they make A.O.R. and to me
it just seemed like a step backward. The music wasn't as heavy and the overall sound just reminded me of stuff that they've already done. Yes
they had the "Priest" sound but the progression was lost. Then they did "Nostradamus". Never was I so disappointed with a Priest album. I think
it's funny that some people say the "Ripper" years aren't "Priest" but Nostradamus is. That is the fartherest thing from Priest that they have done.
Other than the A.O.R. live shows and the British Steel tour I haven't enjoyed anything Priest has done since "Demolition". Also, I don't want a
"British Steel" album, it's already been done. No "Painkiller" either. I just want something heavy. I know the last shows will be  good  and I will
attend at least one of them. I just wish a "Judas Priest (Heavy) Metal" album would go along with it. Maybe it just can't be done.

Oh, there are far more than 2. Shall I break out the cassettes, LPs, CDs (and then LPs again in the case of the new Priest colored ones)?

For me, nothing beat the LPs. Looking at something like Powerslave on a CD jacket just doesn't do it justice at all. Not even close.

I just dont get AOR being a drop off after demo.  demo was not british is style.  still I guess each to their own.  personaly I loved it.  if they re did something like british steel today I cat see it working.  for the time it was fine, but its too simple in sound.

Maybe you're right. Maybe I'm expecting too much. After all the great music they have given us I guess my
expectation level is too high. After Demolition the drop off was too dramatic. I have been waiting ever since for
another "Judas Priest" style heavy metal album. Maybe they realized they aren't capable of giving us one anymore.
The last two Priest albums and Halford's latest are proof of this. A.O.R. has some good music on it but it's hardly
a classic Priest album. I truly believed after the British Steel tour they still had it but??? So maybe it's not betrayal
as much as it just can't be done. Lastly, trust me, I love Judas Priest and I'm not mad about a final tour. I just waited
a decade to hear (one) last "Priest" beast and it's not coming. That is a major disappointment.

Kroman, I agree with you on what you have said except I really liked AOR and loved Nostrodamus. Priest are artists and have always marched to the beat of their own drum. It was different and really quite beautiful. Give it another listen with an open mind and listen from start to finish. A great story really. Priest are more than musicians, they are artists, storytellers.

True Guido, but he did co-write one of their best....."Victim of Changes" - a pretty darn good one.

Ron, I think I agree with what you have said. Also, I do feel a lot of anger here. Let's not forget how very fortunate we have been for even being given the chance to see these guys on tour at all and for getting any new material since Painkiller with Rob. I have stated over the years that I feel extremely lucky to have had the chance to see Judas Priest live again so many years later. I can remember seeing them as a teenager in the 80's. We are all very lucky you guys.

I didn't like Nostradamus or AOR.  There are a couple of songs on each of these albums that I do like but overall they haven't been a cd that I could put in my truck and jam all the through without hitting skip.  Despite that, I don't feel any betrayal here.  You might but I don't see it.  If they truly wanted to screw the fans then they wouldn't even bother with another world tour.  These guys have been doing it for fourty years and I've got to believe that would wear on anybody overtime.  I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt and I wish them nothing but the best.  I've enjoying jamming to Judas Priest for 30 years and I have enjoyed all their albums from Rocka Rolla through Painkiller.  I've seen them three times (Once with Ripper) and I get to see them a fourth time.  Life is good.

Ian Hill: "Everything is a risk during the days of downloading. If it's downloaded legally, that's fine. But illegal downloads are the problem. It sounds like a good idea, music for nothing, but unfortunately, it doesn't cost nothing to produce, it costs a fucking fortune to produce. And it's not really bands like ourselves who lose out, because we've got a huge back catalog and we've got a lot of fans who will go out and buy the album anyway. But the up-and-coming bands, they don't get a chance, they have no option but to give their music away. Record companies aren't giving out many contracts anymore, simply because they're not making any money. It's as simple as that."

I don't think too many people are criticizing their desire to call it a day, I think people are pissed because of the way
Priest are betraying their fans. If you support a band and afford them a lavish lifestyle then why is it too much to expect
a new album before they quit. They release Nostradamus and alienate half their fans, then they leave us hanging for
three years with a teaser of a big announcement. Everyone comes online and sees the new site design and announcement
and instantly get excited thinking here it is only to be kicked in the gut with the we'll take your money but we won't give
you anything but a final tour for it. You can be happy for them but don't think because you are everyone else should be too.
If Nostradamus is the best they can do then maybe no new album is a good thing.

I don't post much on this site but I do visit from time to time and read comments.  Each member, except Scott, are either in their 60's or approaching 60.  Has anybody thought about the fact that maybe they all agreed that it was time to focus on other things in life that, at this stage, are probably more important to them?  This stuff about KK running the band, or Glenn possibly having cancer is a bunch of crap.  You all should feel lucky they have enough mojo to go on another tour, regardless if there is a new album or not, and you have another opportunity to see them.

Life goes on people.  Yeah they won't be touring anymore but that's their choice and they deserve to make that choice without the childish, selfish criticism I've read from a "few" posters in this thread.  Be happy for them.  One benefit I see already is if they shut down the website then you won't have to read anymore bullshit posts from JD Diamond.

Whatever the reason is for not making another studio album, one thing is for sure...we are all suffering the aftermath together theres no escaping it.  I have "NO IDEA" what the real truth is and it may be unfair of me but I'm blaming it ALL on K.K. Downing as its "his band" and a;ways has been.

Believe me, when Rob left Priest for a solo career, I was so pissed off I couldn't even see straight! I don't know, I just don't feel that this time around it is his fault. I do think it was a mistake for him to play Priest tracks on the Halford tour though and I do see how that could really piss off the rest of the band. He really should have kept the two separate. Was that it? Who knows, but I'm sure it didn't help the situation. I know that KK didn't need to be there while they were working on his golf course, I was just saying that it's the thing he enjoys and that's what he decided to do during his time off. Mark said that he thinks they looked into the future and asked themselves how much longer they saw themselves going and someone said they didn't see more than 2 years. That killed the album right there I guess because they don't have enough time to do an album and tour....

You know what I can't stand is the name of this tour! Epitaph? I know it's the name of their song and seemed fitting, but I can't get past the fact that it brings to mind a tombstone. I feel like I'm going to the cemetary to bury my best friend! It doesn't invoke happy feelings for me and I don't feel like celebrating..... All Guns Blazing would have been much better.

You're certainly right about one thing, something happend.  What it was exactly, who knows.  I'm assuming it was a combination of a few things.  Even as late as earlier this year they were still talking about the future and not knowing when the Priest Mchine would stop.  So...what happend?  Only two things could make sense to me, Glenn's health and / or inner turmoil.  There's only been one other time this has happend and it was Rob wanting to do his solo work.  Don't think that I look at him and his solo career as a bad thing because I don't (we rocked out at Ozzfest did we not?).  But I have to believe that it's conflicting, like trying to please two lovers...it's impossible to do.  Maybe you're right in that a decision was made and Rob is just taking advantage of the down time, can't fault him for that.  What I'm looking at though is the timeline.  Just months ago things were fine, now they're not...what happend?  FYI, KK need not be present to build a golf course, it's not like he's out there operating the back-hoe.  They could be laying down the music now and let Rob lay down the vocals when he's done with this tour of his.  Again, makes me believe there are more grievous matters at heart which leads me to consider health issues as it has been a factor in the recent past.

I agree, they could pull it off without Ian, say with Mike Davis. But I don't think they would ever replace any of the 4 original members, not now. I would hate to see any of them replaced, it just wouldn't be the same. And I think that is what's going on here. Someone only feels that they have 2 years left in them and they decided to tour and call it quits instead of replacing him.

I completely agree with you Ron, that the last time Priest toured they had no idea that the next would be a farewell tour. I believe that they all wanted to make another album. Something obviously changed. I think it's very easy to blame Rob because you see him out recording a new album and then touring. I think that is what Priest management WANTS you to think! I'm not buying it and here's why: the ENTIRE band said they were taking a year off and would get together over the holidays to decide what was next did they not? So, why is it OK for KK to build his golf course, Scott to go out and do some shows and Glenn and Ian spend time with their families but it's NOT OK for Rob to do what he loves and that's write and record???? If they all agreed that nothing was going to happen with Priest this year, why the hell can't Rob record a new album and tour? Well, it makes Priest look bad now doesn't it? Hmmm, too bad! I just don't see Rob saying to the rest of the band "No, I'm not going to sit down and write a new Priest album because I'm busy with Halford." What I think is, Rob knew this was coming and he knew that he wasn't done yet! He decided to push this Halford album out as fast as he could and tour it so that when Priest is over, it will only have been 2-3 years since the Halford band toured instead of 10. I don't blame him one damn bit if that's the case. Now, are the rest of the guys pissed at him for it? Quite possibly. Of course, it's also possible that Rob was already invested in this project and committed to the tour when he got the call about writing another album. I don't know them and I have no idea what the relationship is like between them since Rob's return.

I also don't see how Rob spending this time writing and touring stops Priest from writing another album RIGHT NOW! The only thing stopping them from doing it is the fact that someone doesn't want to! I know that someone isn't Rob. You say it isn't KK...... well, that only leaves Glenn.

If they are all pissed at each other and that's the problem, I say we send them some of those Sock'Em Bopper blow up boxing gloves and let them go at it for a couple of minutes! Then once they get it over with, SIT DOWN AND WRITE A NEW BRITISH HEAVY METAL ALBUM to leave as their legacy!

For me? Priest without Glenn wouldn't be an option. It would be akin to Maiden losing Adrian Smith. Same sort of situation, really. With Maiden, Murray is the only original member. Granted. Like KK and Ian for Priest. Both bands just found the right "formula." Break it and the center doensn't hold. I'd always be thinking Van Hagar should they replace him and still use the moniker "Priest." Then again, this comes from someone who absolutely hated the Ripper years.

Hell, I'd hate to see Priest without Ian but still think that they could pull it off. Never without Glenn.

what about replacing Glenn? if in fact he is the issue, which of course is speculation?
