Hmmm...good to know. Well, since I'm not training for anything (only for health benefits...which is alot, as I'm figuring out), I'll stick to what I know best: running at the indoor track at the gym and use the treadmill every once in a while.

Well, time for me to get ready for Monday (ugh). Goodnight, Guids!!

Word to the wise...most trainers don't advise doing intervals until at least a year into running solid (4-5 miles every other day) treadmill.

Sure had my heart thumping. Stick with hills unless you are training for something, I say.

Well, you have a little over a month and half until that marathon, so you'll have enough time to build up strength.

I might do intervals soon, at least as soon as I get over the slight dizziness I experience after getting off the treadmill. I don't do more than two miles, though, as that's as far as my body will permit me to go.

Yes. On Wed I did 7.0 miles at 5.8 an a 1.0 incline. Other days, I'll lower the speed a bit but do "hills." Nothing much more than 1.0, though.

ALL easier than intervals, though. That 8.0 isn't really a full sprint for me but four times in as many miles certainly got me counting minutes. I am really trying to take it easy after the "dilemmas" last time I ran so hard. Really tough to hold to a three or four mile 5.8 flat run, if you can believe it. Still...following Dr.'s orders as well as I can. A 15 mile week, though, seems wimpy. Up to ....uuummmmm...a 21 mile week now with those hills and intervals thrown in. Getting there.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Vaillant 3.0 from Sunday, August 23, 2009 11:06:12 PM)

Do you use the incline part of the treadmill? I usually have it at 1.0 or 0.5, depending on how my left shin is feeling that day.

When I played Ultimate Frisbee last year, if there was an early morning game, I just go to the field in what I'm going to wear as the day progresses. No jackets/sweaters left out on the sideline, in other words.

See, and I like how predictable they are. I never need to keep track of time, miles, weather. The latter is my usual trouble in a marathon setting. That and hills. I am not used to "layering." Most marathons start at an ungodly hour which is usually cold then you heat up and have to throw stuff off. Goes against my packrat mentality! LOL!

I think I actually picked up more cool stuff last race. St. Jude's is cool (literally) because they donate all such clothing to the needy.

Holy crap!! I can do 5.5 but 8.0 must suck!!!
Treadmills are nice, but damn if I lose my footing after doing a run on one of those machines. Almost like trying to walk on land after being in a moving boat for hours. HA!!

Gearing up for October, I ran splits today seriously for the first time since I dropped. 4 miles total. 5.5 with four 3 minute bursts of 8.0. KILLER!!

You know it is bad when you can't concentrate on the music in your ears.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Vaillant 3.0 from Sunday, August 23, 2009 10:36:53 PM)

Yup. It's alot harder to ride a bike against the wind than to run.

Speaking of running...I can run (or rather, jog) 2 miles in 30 mins...but that's about it.

As long as you only want to kill me "a little." I can put you in touch with a like-minded support group.

G'night, my friend.

Now HALFORD and Metal Mike who threw one right to me, I fear for the guy I jumped on to get the "lift" to snatch it out of the air! HAAAA!
