METALMANJP I think and many "old" 80's Iron Maiden fans think that the song subjects are cool, all those songs you mentioned are killer songs execpt Alexander The Great(yuk) but the song subjects are cool, its what Iron maiden is founded on,thats NOT the problem. The problem is that the songs themselves are and have been for 26 years been getting worse and worse ever since the shitty 1986 Somewhere In Time album, the songs themselves suck. The problem with the length of the songs nowadays is that we all know that the songs are going to suck and they last a long time. But it really doesn't matter because even if they shortened up each song to 3 minutes, they would suck just as bad so eh.
Its like there are 2 different Iron maiden bands: The great one from the first Iron maiden album 1980 - to 1984's Powerslave.......and then the shitty Iron Maiden band from 1986 Somewhere In Time up till now The Final Frontier. There is a freaking HUGE drop-off after the Powerslave album, its like after Powerslave aliens from another planet came down and took the killer Iron Maiden away to another planet and replaced them with a shit band Iron maiden who continued starting with the Somewhere In Time album. Maybe on that other planet where the real Iron Maiden are,the people there are getting quality albums like Killers,The Number Of The Beast and Piece Of Mine? LOL!! DOWN THE FUCKIN' IRONS!!!!!

I agree. Maiden writes songs about stories that someone else thought up. Phantom of the Opera, The Prisoner, Where Eagles Dare, Flight of Icarus, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Alexander the Great and so on.
Think how Halford back in 1981 wrote Electric Eye so far ahead of it's time. Know one knew about Sattelite's or how they could be used . How about Metal Gods, Artificial Intelligence and now it's coming to be. Halford is AWESOME !! So clever.

Yup, my friend saw them in Dallas for the opening of the tour. He left and got a beer during the show, FFS!! Now that just shows you how SHITTY it was! He would NEVER leave to get a beer if the setlist hadn't SUCKED SO BAD! I'm so glad we didn't get tickets to this. God does it blow! El Dorado has it's moments when Bruce sings high.... I almost think that the song could be something in those moments and then they just go back to being in love with themselves and how they play... They need an editor in the studio - someone to cut out the 3-4 minutes of shit in just about every song! I just realized that Silent Screams by Halford was over 7 minutes long - they need to take lessons from THE METAL GOD and learn how to write a long song! It should keep the audience craving even more at the end, not wanting you to end the song halfway through!! DOWN THE IRONS CAUSE IRON MAIDEN IS DONE AND THE NEXT PRIEST ALBUM IS GOING TO BLOW THEM AWAY!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to say that the same sentiment was voiced over and over again on Eddie Trunk yesterday. Don't know if you caught it but the show was anything but positive from those who saw it in Texas.
Most callers saying the exact same thing: had they know the setlist would have been so piss-poor, they wouldn't have even considered shelling out the $. You know it is bad when people were even laughing at how goofy Eddie looks. Here's hoping you have a better experience.
