OK, Here's what I came up with. In 1968 The Wizard of Ozz was around, the show "The Wild,Wild West had an episode called "The Night the Wizard shook the Earth" and The Who released "Pinball Wizard". I thought with Sabbath they would have been touring around the pubs in England prior to releasing an album and no one had heard anything like that before so it would have made an impression on Halford. He was successful in Europe before the USA. He would have been famous earlier than '68 in Europe and Woodstock wasn't until '69.
