VH1 - Behind The Music
The VH1 - Judas Priest - Behind the Music special airs Sunday 23rd September.
Due to, and with respect for the dreadful events which took place in the USA on Tuesday,
we have rescheduled the Judas Priest tour which will now take place in JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2002.
We are sure everyone will understand the reason for this and it goes without saying that our hearts go out to
America and those who have suffered.
Dates will be announced as soon as they are finalised and all tickets already bought will of course be valid.

There appears to be a lot of confusion surrounding the movie 'Rock
Star' and
JUDAS PRIEST. The film is NOT about JUDAS PRIEST or their story. We
all
know that the production company got the original idea from an
interview we
did with The New York Times when Ripper first joined the band - however
what
they have done is take various ideas from many bands and put it all
together
into a purely fictional film - we have communicated with Warner Bros on
a few
occasions regarding the Judas Priest name being used incorrectly and
they
have categorically informed us that this film is fiction and not based
on any
particular band's story. The story line is so far removed from JUDAS
PRIEST
(other than the initial background to the new vocalist) that we have
had to
disassociate ourselves from it - when we hear there are scenes where
the band
fire their old singer because he is gay ......!! Well needless to say
this
is not the kind of thing we want any contact with. So once and for all
-
this film is NOT the story of JUDAS PRIEST!

We have been informed today that the new JUDAS PRIEST album 'DEMOLITON' will be released in the U.K. on Monday 23rd July - 1 week later than originally planned. This is due to a technical problem with the distributers - we have only just been informed about it and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Legendary metal giants JUDAS PRIEST release their first new studio
album for over three years 'Demolition' on Monday, July 16th (SPV Records). The
release coincides with the bands current year long world tour which commenced
last month in Switzerland and which will see Priest play to over two million
fans in Europe alone during a series of major summer festivals.
As a result of massive ticket demand for the bands sell out show last
month at London's Astoria, JUDAS PRIEST will be returning to the capital
following the USA and Japanese legs of the tour to play a special Christmas show
at BRIXTON ACADEMY on Wednesday, December 19th.
Tickets for the Brixton gig, promoted by Mean Fiddler, are now
available priced at �17.50 from the Academy box office on 020 7771 2000 and all
usual agents including Stargreen and Way Ahead. Credit card bookings can also

The Japanese version of DEMOLTION will contain one bonus track entitled 'What's My Name'. Europe will be releasing a special limited edition of DEMOLITION with 2 bonus tracks - studio versions of 'Rapid Fire' and 'The Green Manalishi (with the two-pronged crown)'.
We've just been informed that the 'British Steel' Classic Album programme we recorded will be aired
in the U.K. on Channel 5 on Sunday 2nd September, 2001 at 8pm - it is part of
a 'Rock Day' the channel are having that day and it will go under the
title of 'Rock Classics'. VH1 'Behind The Music' is scheduled to be aired in the States on 22nd September, 2001.

plus UK and Japanese press - all very time consuming but always really worthwhile and enjoyable!

The album has a lot of variation in it which you'll all be able to hear for yourselves once
you have it. We hope you enjoy it. At the moment we are heavily into
rehearsals for the tour - we leave for the start of the tour next week - very soon
now we'll be announcing some more dates including shows in the US, South
America and many more territories. Release date for the single in the U.K. has
been put back to 11th June, 2001 - we've just heard about this from the label so
sorry if it has caused any of you any problems!

The DVD/Video of the making of the Classic Albums TV programme on 'BRITISH STEEL'
will be available in the UK and Europe on 28th May, 2001 and in the US
in the Autumn. We do not have a definite date yet for the US but as soon
as we get one we'll announce it.

Please note the show on 4th July in Spain has changed - see the tour dates for details.
The reason the release of the new album DEMOLITION has been held until July is because the USA need approximately 2 or 3 months to 'work in' the album and have a good promotional campaign i.e. to get all the ads booked, press, radio etc., in palce - some magazines in the States have as much as 2 or 3 months lead time - in other words if we do an interview in April it will not come out until the June or July issue - therefore if Atlantic released the album at the end of May it would come out with no press, no ads, no promotion. Don't forget not everyone is on the internet - a lot of people have to wait to hear about a new album on the radio or read about it in the press. Atlantic want to do a really great job on this album and of course we want them to! We have discussed the situation with our labels in the other territories and they are all in agreement - you cannot release an album 2 months ahead in some territories - so we have reached a compromise where everyone is happy. We will still do our European dates which we are really looking forward to - Europe will come out with a single to tie in with this tour and we will use these shows to help build the excitement towards the release of the album! Don't worry time will fly and it won't be long before DEMOLITION is in your record stores!!
Europe will be releasing a single on 28th May, 2001 - title yet to be confirmed.

As you know the first segment of the tour has been announced and we are now putting together the American dates and second leg of Europe after which we will cross to South America and Japan and then work on dates for the rest of the world! We're all excited about getting back on the road where Priest belong playing old and new songs and some tracks off the new album which we are in the process of mixing. It's going to be difficult to finally decide what songs go in the 2001 set as there are so many of our favourites and everyone's favourites but we know that whatever we play we'll give 200%!!!
