You can have all the rain, if it was up to me... The interlake is saturated,,  still from last year.

And we are waiting on this ugly weather, to get a concret floor poured for a garage,,, cannot do it when its crappy..

SO my Man, is pacing the hallways  upset about this.... LOL

Oh yeah, you get used to it as long as it's not like 6 days in a row which happened back in MAY!!! That was miserable but the rain in the next week helped make up for it. But we need more rain, would you be able to send some my way?

Nice weather today... finally!

[spapad] Saturday, May 30, 2009 12:32:36 PM
Even the slightest possbility of snow this time of year is just too depressing! But then, it does nothing but rain here and the weather man says we are down on precip for the year? Is he a loony? I could mud bog in certain spots of my yard! and the creek is way up! But then again he said twice the other morning there was a chance of rain in the morning, of both times it had been pouring rain since 4:00 am. Go outside and look, is better than what the weather man says! LOL

You're absolutely right, Soy...even those that do care a little can do more, but it needs to be a global effort to have any impact...and I also think that the more we send objects through to space the more damage we do to the ozone layer and that, too has an impact on global weather conditions...but then you look at the simple choices like paper or plastic at the grocery store, plastic hangs around forever, but then we need thousands of trees instead...damned if you do, damned if you don't (even though both are reusable and recycleable)...

NOT TO MENTION RON, ICE IS EXTREMELY HEAVY,GLACIERS ARE MASSIVE SHEETS OF ICE,WHEN INTACT,GLACIERS PUT ENORMOUS AMOUNTS OF PRESSURE ON THE AREA OF THE EARTH'S SURFACE THAT THEY COVER.SO WHEN GLACIERS MELT-AS THEY ARE NOW AT A RAPID RATE DUE TO GLOBAL WARMING-THAT PRESSURE IS REDUCED AND EVENTUALLY RELEASED.MOST,IF NOT PRACTICALLY ALL,GEOLOGISTS AGREE RELEASING THAT PRESSURE WILL CAUSE ALLSORTS OF GEOLOGIC REACTIONS,SUCH AS EARTHQUAKES,TSUNAMIS,AND VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS....YOU'D THINK THAT THESE MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE EDUCATED IN THE FIELD,MIGHT HAVE AN IDEA OF THE PROBABILITY OF HUMANKINDS EFFECT ON THE PLANET,BUT THESE NAYSAYERS WHO JUST LIKE TO PISS ALL OVER EVERYTHING,BECAUSE THIS IS WHO THEY ARE,AND WHAT THEY DO...MOST STUDIES HAVE ALSO SHOWN THAT THESE TYPES OF PEOPLE WHO ARE SURVEYED ON THIS TOPIC,AND GIVE A COLLECTIVE THUMBS DOWN TO THESE ISSUES,DON'T CONTRIBUTE IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER! ...DON'T EVEN RECYCLE,
WOULD RATHER DRIVE A COUPLE OF BLOCKS TO THE STORE TO PICK UP A BOTTLE OF POP,RATHER THAN HAUL THEIR FAT,LAZY,NEGATIVE,SORRY NO-GOOD ASSES OF THE COUCH AND WALK THERE....TIMES ARE-A-CHANGIN'.LOOK AT THE WAY GOVERNMENTS ARE ALL SUDDENLY ON THE GREEN MOVEMENT IN THE LAST FEW YEARS...THEY KNOW,THE DECADES,AND DECADES OF GREED AND DAMAGE,MUST BE TURNED AROUND FOR THE GOOD OF ALL...TO BAD THE CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS DON'T GET IT,OR EVEN MORE SADLY,DON'T CARE...

As George Carlin once said. When you reach the pearly gates at the end of your life if you have a chance to ask the ONE question, What are we here for? a voice will answer back "Plastic" LOL The earth couldn't make it on it's own so we were invented.

DDT caused problems and replacing it caused more.  these enviro nuts have no sense of reason.  saving the earth is a great idea, so they tell you to recycle plastic bags, which creates more polution than tossing them straight in a river???  WTF>  I am not advocating tossing them in the river, but reuse, eliminate the use of, and landfill the damn things when you cant do one of the above.  but no, it looks cool to recycle, so kill the globe and recycle them.

DDT did cause some problems and there are safer alternatives, but I have never truely bought the idea that we are the major culprits of global warming since the earth has seen far worse things than we do over it's time and has survived just fine. The earth will be here long after we are gone as a species bacause I have no belief we will survive till the sun goes supernova, we are too violent a species and will eventually end ourselves or a big meteor will take the lot of us out! It's going to get hot, and then get even colder! The greenfreaks just don't look at long term history.

climate change exists, absolutly.  man made, not a chance.
I wonder how much damage these enviro nuts are doing to the environment with these stupid policies they push.  Banning DDT killed tens of thousands of people and did major enviro damage.  these nuts dont get it.  man cannot and should not try to influence nature.  look at yellowstone park.  kill the wolves, reintroduce them, kill them again, cause the whole place to damn near burn to ground (lightning caused fire)....

I know it don't seem like a lot, but that's a mighty big shelf (1,000,000 sq. mi. ??), so if it melts 1/2" off the top evenly across every hour or two and it all flows in the same direction, could that create flood conditions??  I know they all just like to scare the hell out of ppl, but it's something to think about...

yeah, that would happen if you could get a fast melt.  need a big torch to do it though.  considering the temp you would need to melt it all in a summer, the flood would be the least of our worries

Well, if the shelf is melting rapidly, it would flood then eventually even out, but there would be initial flooding on the shores closest to the new water source...the article didn't say that this area would be permanently flooded, just that it would initially flood, then recede of course for the very reason you mentioned...but that's a lot of inches to rise for such a big area...BTW, it was the NE shores of N. America specifically...

    HA!!!
it kills me when I see these things in the news.  I read one a while ago that said that if all of antarctica melted (which it wont) sea level would rise by 2 feet in the south pacific, 12 feet in hawii, 8 feet in japan, 6 feet in england.  WTF???  probably if you could get water to spread like that it would, but last I checked, it spreads evenly.  never noticed that if you dump a bucket of water into a puddle it all goes to one side, floods the ant colony and the other side stays level??

You're right, I was in a hurry getting ready for work...the xact area that would be affected is the north eastern shores, not on a global level...the article was in the Yahoo news, it might still be there and maybe I read it wrong, but just the possibility that it could happen is a little scary...

Ron, there isnt enough ice there to make the levels of the great lakes rise 20 inches if you put all the water in there today.  if all of antarctica melted they would be on the right track, but most parts of antarctica are growing, not shrinking
