Ah yes, Mistah Freakstah. I am a HUGE fan of "studio magic", I assure you. However, it does not do you much good in a LIVE setting. Harmonics devices notwithstanding, there is only so much one can do vocally as the years pass by.  Of course, Rob is an exception and , as I said, can do incredible things with his voice...things that are FAR beyond my modest capabilities and certainly far beyond most.

60 years old....nothing that a little "studio magic" can't take care of.

I would agree with you, Angel. And it is not that Rob is a "has-been" or anything like that. We ALL age, my friends. MANY things happen to our bodies and we are simply unable to do some of the things that we did as youngsters. Rob Halford is incredible. He can still do things that MANY vocalists HALF his age cannot. There is not a doubt in my mind that he still "brings it", night after night.

I would hazard a guess that we'll never hear that verse live that he sings way up in the stratosphere in Dreamer Deceiver.  "We are lost above, floating way up high.  If you think you can find a way.  You can surely try."  That's one of my Top 5 Priest faves!

I was supposed to be doing some researchh on a story I need to write.. So I'm listening to some BBC4 short stories on my laptop and the last one I listened to was so boring that I dosed off lol. I've just woken up fresh and ready to get some fresh air before I fall into a coma or something...Guess I won't be using tips from that one for inspiration pmsl!

I can't believe that Rob Halford wasn't even CONSIDERED for a "best supporting actor" oscar for his performance in the movie Spun!
[Deep Freeze] Sunday, January 10, 2010 9:20:23 AM
Well, I do hope you are right my friend. I would love to hear something more "classic" on the next album. I am one of those that have said openly that Rob does not hit "those notes" anymore. I think it is important to qualify that statement by saying that he is not  hitting the same notes he did MANY years ago at the same pitch. He is a 60 year old man. Yes, he IS the Metal God and can do things most human beings cannot, but he IS human. He can still do things that are just incredible. I admit that. When I say he "cannot hit those notes", it is not a rap against him at all. It is just a statement of fact.  One need only listen to Painkiller live today to understand what I mean.

gratuitous violence

I think it would be awesome if Weird Al Yankovic would do some parodies of Judas Priest songs.
How about The Green Mitsubishi (With A 2-Door Sedan)? Of course that would be considered a Fleetwood Mac parody though.
maybe Metal Rods. Fuck, I don't know.

AHHHHH!!!!  That's too funny!! We have a "Roach Coach" that comes by the plant as well where I work and you really have to be careful about what you buy!!  And considering that you don't really know what is left over compared to what's fresh, you're really better off bringing your own lunch to work!!  LOL

IMHO, there's a good balance between worshipping Judas Priest and goofing around.
