It's been about 20 years since I last heard Monument. I'm thinking about buying it and giving it another shot. I need to get Tales Of Terror, too. I have Death And Insanity. What a great album! |

Oh now way dude,Speed Freak, the title track "Monument" ,the song 'Painkiller"(written in 1988!)and "No Sanctuary" are the 4 worthy tracks to me,the 2 best are definately "Monument" and "Painkiller". But the rest of the LP...yeah,I don't care for it.

I remember seeing Hallows Eve around '92 or '93, thinking that I was going to see a good classic thrash band, because I also loved the first 3 albums. Well, the first 2 anyway. Monument only had a couple songs that I liked. But the show I saw was horrible. I think the bass player was the only member left. Everyone else in the band was different and they sounded like shit. It was a huge disappointment. I didn't know they were still active now. I'll have to look them up. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. I remember Toxik very well. They were very talented. Their first album was good, but their second one was way too progressive for me. I remember Savage Grace as well. They were Iron Maiden clones IMO. Not a bad band, but far from original. There are hundreds of long forgotten eighties metal bands. Here's a list with more than 1300 obscure eighties metal albums: http://vibrationsofdoom.com/test/index.html The overwhelming majority of the stuff that's listed there is probably lukewarm at best or just complete crap. Sometimes there's a reason why bands don't hit the big time.

Unfortunately, 'Under Jolly Roger' was the last Running Wild album that I have heard. It's an awesome album. I need to get some more of their stuff. I'll check out 'Masquerade' first. Onslaught's 'The Force' was awesome, too.
I was really into death metal in the early 90's when it was good. Now that it has been commercialized, it has been ruined. You're right about that! [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D.
