Re-thought it, I'm more impressed with the sexy Teacher in a banner walking down the tables! HA!! Too funny, yeah Eddie is on a very long table but the Teacher's got it over on him! LOL Poor Waldo, I'd bet he grew up to be the nicest looking of the bunch. So many times ugly kids turn out to be handsom/beautiful adults. LOL

Diamond Dave FTW! Not a big fan of Van HAGAR. Just didn't work for me, although they did manage to put out a few good tunes. But the sound was just not Van Halen without Dave. |

Van Halen with Sammy Hagar were crap, just boring middle of the road american rock. All of their Hagar albums are shit, a couple of singles plus a whole bunch of filler. David Lee Roth is way better. |

i dont know, i like zakk wylde and his work with ozzy was great. but in my opinion his style is a little annoying because all the pinch harmonics just seem very unneccesary. EVH passes wylde by aLONG shot |

EVH WAS influential. WAS is key word. He has been left in the dust by the likes of Zakk Wylde an others. I believe EVH has lost his creativity. Give me the guitar work the Nugent does on the Craveman album any day of the week over anything EVH has done in 20 years. |

and EVH isnt the greatest guitarist ever amboydukes, i agree with you. but i wouldnt call him boring, his style is unique and exciting. he is very very influential and the tapping is just awesome. i think their are many players better than him, such as K.K. downing, and Glenn Tipton, :) |

Exactly! if Eddie Van Halen were to die or sumthin (which wouldnt happend cuz gods are immortal...hahah) they would have to stop. theres no replacing him, much like when Bohnam died in 1980, led zepppelin stopped. sure they have had a handful of concerts since, but u will never find another EVH, not even in a tribute band. lol |
|
[Amboydukes] Wednesday, June 17, 2009 9:34:23 AM | |

I think overall that VH was better with DLR than Hagar....but. VH with Hagar did a version of Wild Thing during a concert, that was recorded on King Biscuit Flower Hour and I believe can be found on an Import, that was awesome. EVH and Hagar traded off soloing and they out right jammed on it. This could not have been done with DLR. You can find VH with Hagar doing Wild Thing at other concerts but the one off of King Biscuit was the best. Also, please no one refer to EVH as the greatest guitarist ever. He has not done anhything on guitar worthy of that mantel since before DLR left the band. His guitarmanship now can best be described as BORING. |

Exactly british.steel!! Without Eddie Van Halen they would be nothing! He's the creative force behind the band. They were fine without DLR but if Eddie was not there they would be HIS-TO-RY!

That would rule!!! 20 years later....again with Roth!!! But who knows maybe we can blame it all on Eddie's kid Wolfgang, hahaha. Its all that little basterds fault!!! He was actually a pretty talented bassist for being in his early 20's i think maybe even younger. Roth is more like Mick Jagger for me. Jagger is not a "great" vocalist , either. He is an accomplished showman. He also is a musical genius and I say that because he has the longevity to back it up! Anyway, to stay on "topic", I would vote Roth all the way. I enjoyed VH when they first hit the scene and stopped caring when Roth left. |

I hate Van Halen, and Sammy Hagar, don't like either bands or vocalists. But I would have to go with David Lee Roth as being the better vocalist, and better persona for the band "Van Halen". |

Sorry man but I have to call you out on this one. Eddie Van Halen is the most influential and original guitar player of the last 30 years and you say David Lee Roth is Van Halen. I don't think so. Eddie Van Halen is the sound and always will be. Yeah Roth is part of the original sound but they continued on just fine with Sammy Hagar. You can replace Roth but Eddie can never be replaced. Sammy hagar's albums were it seemed just more laid back. Not as exciting, David lee roth threw the element of unpredictablity in there, alot more original, IMO. | | Diamond Jim wrote: | | "He made up their original sound"
