Hmmmm...
I think that you can truly call yourself a non-computer-geek when you look at the word/acronym "WOPR" and think to yourself,"Mmmm...Burger King." That or a shameless 'murican.
A perfect comment for the Blah, indeed.

Why, just cycle through every single number and uppercase/lowercase letter! If it had to figure out all 10 simultaneously, now THAT would take some time.
Moral of the story? Make strong passwords and always choose Chess over Global Thermonuclear War.
Oh yeah...and don't give geeks too much free time to think about these sorts of things.

Welp, looks like the Dollar Tree is trying to bring Sweetest Day to the West Coast. Don't think it'll work, though. Halloween is just too much fun! A bunch of cards with hearts on them this late in the year isn't going to sell very well. Plus, just like with Valentines Day, any day is good day to let those you care about know how much you appreciate them.
In fact, I'll do it right now.

You guys and gals are the best. Thank you for being my friends (and, at times, for being my captive audience to the occasional nonsense that I spew). Here's a gift, from me to you. Enjoy!

Glad to hear HRMG got to enjoy Saxon in Michigan. I left for the Cleveland show but I didn't make it. Ended up driving an hour for no reason. Stopped in Boardman and had dinner with the wife. Listened to Saxon all the way home which did nothing for my depression (lol). I still can't believe I haven't seen them yet. I'm not their biggest fan, I never thought alot about Biff's vocals but some of their music is heavy as hell and I can see why some like them so much. I did like their first three albums alot and from HRMG's brief description it sounds like they may have done a bit of the older stuff. If there's ever a next time maybe then. I decided to skip the Otep show next month and at least one of the MRH shows. I joke about it alot but I really do need to cut back a little.

Huh. I just read that Wiki. Didn't realize that the "holiday" was so localized. We had a Saunders candy store next to the high school and all around Detroit. Used to make a mad dash to that store at lunch as it was an open hour.
Man, what I wouldn't give for some "buttons" now. Not the ones I see prepackaged but the originals. Bought 'em by the foot!
Wow....how things have changed. Even looking for an image only generates THIS prepackaged garbage! www.amazon.com/BUTTONS-Necco-twenty-2-strip-strips/dp/B000FNB7UO

I think that Dont go was someones attempt to turn them into a pop band. if that single had taken off I bet there would have been a change of direction., thankfully it didnt and we got SFV
the biggest blunder?
Probably the reunion timeline. Rob comes back in 03/04. album 05. AOR a good solid metal album. not a game changer, but decent. then wait 3 years, put out an album that was contraversial. why the wait. then we go now 5 years, with just ocasional talk of an album. 5 years between albums is not what relevant bands do.
either that or the biggest blunder was rob leaving to begin with. they went 6 years between albums then, could have figued out his solo shit and had him back in time for jugulator (or whatever it would have been)

Back into training again and I ran to Nostra 1. No secret that I am on the side that liked the album. However, why the HELL did they make a video out of WAR?!?! FFS! Persecution! Why push "Prophecy?" While not a bad tune by any means but nobody that isn't a true JP fan knows its name. Push NOSTRA itself!!!! DAMN! Nothing makes me push a run farther (and also question the "Curbishley" management). SO many dropped balls (American football reference...keep your minds out of the gutter!) it isn't funny.
I'll try to curb the rant that is waiting to come out. Very difficult. Baxtergate? Not a word anywhere I have looked. Last comment: AAAAAARGH!!!!! 'Nuff said.

Very cool theater and very nice area. Even if you can't get to a show, see if you can get a look in the theater.
Want something WAY off the beaten path that only real Detroiters know? Take a spin through Heidelberg. Again, take their warnings VERY seriously (read how to get there and see more pix on the site below) and don't wander a street away in any direction but DO get out and take all the pix you want. You'll find cameras a lot more expensive than yours out without fear. www.heidelberg.org/
Where else would you see something like THIS? All of two blocks. Be sure to walk around the BACK of the houses. Really impressive. Wiki it and you'll learn more. Sign the lady's house at the end of the block for a buck! Kewl.

We went to a couple of shows on cruise ships and she had a blast. She taught dance for 15 years so it's kind of her thing. Her Birthday is that week so maybe I'll see if I can get tickets and surprise her. Mushroomhead on Saturday and 100 Years Of Broadway on Sunday. Now if that isn't a contrast in taste I don't know what is. (lol). Maybe do the riverwalk early in the day. Thanks for the suggestions.(again)(lol)

I really liked the look of that theatre though and thought that would be cool. I've been to Detroit before I just didn't search out anything to do. Went to Cobo Hall to watch Ultimate Fighting and stayed at the Renaissance Center and checked out the Detroit Zoo the day after a Priest show(DTE) but that's it.

Greektown! If you are into Greek food, it is a must-stop. Depends on when you go, as well. Look to see who is at the Fox Theater, Greektown (not to be confused with the area) has a casino (called the Greektown Casino...what a surprise), I'd see who was playing at Joe Louis Arena (last place we saw Priest), you might catch a hockey game or even football as all are in that area. No major parks but you can jump on the People Mover and get a good tour of the city as it runs in a big circle. Go to the top of the Renaissance Center if you REALLY want a view. You can go for drinks or food. It sits at the top and both spin so you can see beautiful views of the city and Windsor on a good day or night. Belle Isle is a park / Island that isn't much but good for a car tour. Great parks are further north. Did you see the pix of Harpos I posted for you? Vacation thread. While it would be great to catch a show there, you do NOT want to hang out there at night. No problem at all in the venue itself and I even park on the street but don't get lost in that area. If in doubt? Head south into Grosse Pointe. Drive too far south and you'll hit the lake! Drive Lakeshore to be sure. Beautiful houses and all of Grosse Pointe runs along the lake.
I'd say "RiverWalk" and the Atwater Brewing Company (both along the Detroit River) but November is COLD! Fishbones for good music (all downtown) and food and even St. Andrews Hall is worth a look to see who is playing. Tons of museums (Motown is worth it, DIA - Detroit Institute of Arts, etc. if you are into such things. Urban sprawl, though. You won't find much by way of "natural areas" unless you head north. Clarification, by north I mean hours to the north!
Good start with what I mention above. Hell, you could spend a DAY in the Ren Cen alone! Park there and take the People Mover around. Only parking cheaper is at the casino and getting a free stamp at the cage. THEN take the People Mover around!

The show is on VH1. I don't know if this particular camp will be aired on VH1, but with Priest and all the other rock stars that will be there, I'm betting it will be. The show is called Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp. I've watched both seasons. Pretty cool show!

I have never written a song in my life either...but, it is for ALL levels...beginner to expert. I have written poems before...aren't many songs just poems put to music?
I don't know what s most exciting about the thing...Deep Freeze got to be in a band for a bit and loved it...I always wanted to do that, but never had the chops or time or, dare I say it, the balls, to do it. This camp is giving me that opportunity to do that and much more. I am super excited to be able to meet the guys, but I think even more excited about the opportunity to LEARN from them and all the others.
They say in the brochure that they will give us a link to share with our friends and family so they can stream the performance live. I will post it here for all of you so you can watch. Hopefully I will do you all proud!!

I got to ride on a zip line Sunday for the first time. My wife has been telling me about this park near us that offers it but I never thought it would be much fun so I didn't give it any thought. We take 5 mile walks on Sundays and we were heading out for that and decided to have breakfast first so we drove past where we were going to find something. On the way we saw a sign for the park she was talking about and after we ate decided to ride by it. On the way to that I ended up on the wrong rode and didn't even know it but I saw a sign for a car show and we decided to hit that. I turned around and going back towards the car show I saw the sign for the park. The car show was at the park. After we checked out the cars we saw that they had walking trails so we did one called a 4 mile loop. Got lost at the end and did some extra walking so we probably got our whole five in. (lol). During the walk I saw them zip lining and it looked a little more fun than I thought so we did one called "The Ride". 2200 ft. downhill over the trees. It was a little scary because I had to go first and didn't see anyone else do it so launching myself off a platform more than 50 ft. off the ground was a little shaky. It was fun as hell though once you realized you weren't falling towards the ground. I let go of the bar and leaned back and rode it like that. It made you go faster. At the end it seems like you're going too fast to be able to stop in such a short distance and that scared me a little. It was so much more fun than I thought it could be and the way our day worked out without any plans and just winging it was perfect. Sorry so long. I just thought I would share.

I need help! I've relapsed. I said no more shows "this year" after Aug. 20 but I was online yesterday and saw "Dio Disciples" playing at Ripper's own "Rockhouse" and only 200 hundred tickets being sold and I told myself "No" and then...
...I ordered two tickets (gotta keep the wife addicted also) so it looks like Sept. 15 I'll be getting my fix at Ripper's place with Ripper's band (not technically his but anyway).
...and now Saxon in Cleveland is saying "Dave, ...Dave" .....aaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! I have no control. (lol)

Last I heard there's a big heatwave going on in Europe. It's possible that there's no electricity at the moment from overusage. That or she's been banned from that Internet cafe she frequents.
Whatever the reason, this "silence" sure is nice.

NOT spending all your time and money to sit on the internet trying to hook up with a Booger. I'll donate an entire CASE of duct tape to the effort!

What's funny is how you realize in those situations how much things don't bother you that normally would. For example, being pushed and shoved. I was so worried about getting crushed i didn't mind it at all. Being kicked in the side of the head by crowd surfers, I got kicked and just pushed their foot away and waited for the next one. No security so you can guess which row got the brunt of that. Rubbing up against sweaty people. Normally I would be like don't freakin' touch me, but I was like fuck it I'll shower. Being groped from behind by girls in the crowd....OK so that doesn't really bother me but I was with my wife and I thought it was excessive. One girl was complimenting the tattoo's on my back and I think it was her. I swear this is true, at one point I looked at my wife and said their pulling my pants all the way down. Thank goodness I wore a belt. Lastly putting my hands on the stage. For the first three bands I kept it to to an absolute minimum. The carpet was old and stained and had gum all stuck in it and it was so hot all the bands were dripping sweat on it as was the crowd up front. When the chaos was happening I was palms flat pushing as hard as I could and didn't even care what I was putting my hands into.Having water and beer and whatever poured and splashed and sprayed all over me would normally get me pissed but I was soaking wet (literally) and didn't even remember how until later at McDonald's the wife and I were discussing it and I kind of started remembering some of it. Overall crazy experience. I say all the time I'm getting too old for this shit, maybe I should listen to myself! ...or just say fuck it you only live once! (lol)

Bud, that reminds of a story my friend told me about the 1980 BS tour
Priest played the Erie County Field House Erie, Pa
No seats on the floor standing room only with a steel bar across the front of the stage.
He was with the biggest dude from our school and lucky
because same thing as soon as Priest came out everyone pushed forward and he would have been crushed
if not for the big brute holding people back.

I am guessing the noises might have been either something the cub was hunting, or 2 cubs fighting. if momma bear was after you and actualy pissed, you would have scars at this point. I guarantee, on your fastest day you cant outrun the average bear. then again if there are 3 of you, you dont have to outrun the bear, only your slowest friend.
Running is generaly the wrong move. bears like to chase things.
stand tall, open your jacket, spread your arms. talk loudly and back away if they come at you toss your backpack towards them and keep your ground its called a bluff charge. you only see black bears there I think, those your even a little beter off fighting back, they dont like to hunt things that punch. Grizzly on the other hand, hunt more, are more aggressive, and weigh twice as much. they are the ones that you curl up into a ball, and hope they like your backpack
beter yet is to know what the heck to do with bear spray.

It went down one side of the (hill) and back up the other with nearly 30 sets of water falls along the way ranging from a couple of feet to more than 90 feet. Very cool walking trail. Along the way we were surprised by a deer drinking out of the stream that we spooked and it darted right past us. Guys being guys (you know, "macho") we started talking about what we would do if we saw a bear. "I would hit it witha stick", "Yeah. well I would throw rocks at it to fuck with it", "shit, I would chase his ass". Comments like that but I don't think we really expected to see one. At the top of the trail we started hearing a high pitched kind of squeal and then something like a loud hiss. Then we heard something that sounded like something scratching a tree and more squeals. We get to the very end where you step out of the brush and into a field that led to the center where we were going. Anyway in a line of three the first guy opens up a brushy area to walk out ont the open field and he stopped in his tracks. he started stuttering "there there's a bear" and the other two of us looking over each side ofhis shoulder saw the bear. No sticks, no rocks and no chasing, just a flat out sprint by all three of us until we got to the center about a hundred yards away. So headbanger, even if just a guess can you explain the noises. The bear we saw was a cub. I'm guessing we were about to be mauled.(lol)

First of all, I am glad you had such a great pre-show experience with the band!! That would be fantastic to be at sound check. Their meet and greet sounded like a blast too. I love it when bands treat their fans well, with sound check/meet and greets, etc. That is the way it should be..... HINT ..... HINT...... HINT to JP management!! I've been to a lot of shows where there is that full force push forward and if you are at the rail, you get smashed. But usually, it's just once or twice and the assholes figure out they aren't getting any closer and stop! In the couple of times they kept on doing it, the security guys climbed up, pointed at the offenders and then security came up behind them and threw them out. Stupid of the venue to not put a stop to it, because someone could have gotten seriously injured and they would be at fault. Very scary! I'm sorry that it ended so badly!
[Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Budred from Sunday, July 21, 2013 1:57:09 PM) | | Budred wrote: | | I have a concert experience to share that i think some here will actually enjoy hearing. I went to the MRH "Oldschool" show last night and what started out as a fantastic event turned into my worst concert experience ever. Got early entry to watch the sound check and that was pretty cool. Only got to see a couple of songs but there were only about 100 people so we could see great and it was comfortable and it was cool seeing them play not wearing masks or costumes. They offered a food spread and then went to an outside fenced in patio area to meet and talk with everyone. Got to get pics with everyone and they gave us tshirts and posters and we had them signed. Went back in and got a spot right up by the stage. Thought it was going to be great but during the last band before MRH the crowd started pressing forward. I was up front for them before so I thought I was prepared for what was to come and stayed up front. During the intermission the crowd started thrusting forward and I had to use the stage as leverage to hold everyone back. By time the lights went down I was reduced to using my knees pressed against the stage and palms flat on it to hold people back and was in a postion where I couldn't get out of the crowd. It got so bad that I could only turn my head to look at wife and I told her I didn't think this was going to go well. When the band started it was chaos and a everyone behind us was pressing forward. I ended up flat against the stage screaming out in pain because my legs were getting crushed and I was totally spent and couldn't do anything. All I could do was reach for the band and ask for help. At first I think some of the members just thought I was trying to touch them and ignored it. Then one was over top of me using a hose to water the crowd and he noticed me in anguish and he tried to pull me up. I was getting smashed so bad I couldn't move and he started trying to push people off of me and he was giving it everything he had. Finally I felt a gap and I pulled myself up on stage. Then some of the other members just thought I jumped up and were trying to get me to jump into the crowd. Then the crowd was yelling at me to jump and I just stepped in. Then people trying to help were like why didn't you jump. I couldn't hardly breath or talk and just shook my had. Luckily trying to get out of the crowd people were just shoving toward the back. My wife had to be pulled right after me. Yeah it sucked. Moral of the story. Lift weights if you want to be up front at a MRH show. Fuck!!!

Crap! Dangerous situation. I was in Brazil during their "penta" (5th) win of the World Cup. Went way to the north to the city of Recife. When they won it (I believe the US hosted!), the city was as close to Carnaval as you could imagine. TONS of people flooding the street, trielectricos (giant busses with dancers and massive sound systems), parades...all night long. Following day, I head out walking to the beach like any other day and I see the streets filling with people all running one direction. I stop someone and ask what is goin on, answer? The team is passing through on parade! Weeeellll, of course I join in the run! Got a nice spot in the front row then decided, thanks to being in concerts like you describe, that it would be best if I moved back a row or three.
Yup, first row starts to be pushed back by walking police. Then another wave of police with more people coming up to see from behind (think "futebol' isn't a passion in Brazil?). Then comes a row of police on horseback KICKING the front row back. Whole time people crushing from behind. Some guy with a bike was close to me and, when he went down, it was all I could do to keep from being smashed onto his offroad bike that had also gone down.
Moral? I just jumped and snapped some shots as the team passed by sitting on a bus and put them together with names in the newspaper the following day. Hopefully, the only casualty was the bike. Fork literally bent in HALF by the pressure of the crowd.
Man, I gotta find those pix. Really impressive. Dangerous but talk about fans...wow!

Fuck!!!

I have a concert experience to share that i think some here will actually enjoy hearing. Cool pics. ...but that looks a little bigger than the small bear I (thought) you mentioned. Whoever the chick is that's funny. Obviously someone with a sense of humor...or no shame!(lol)

Not if you read the stunin black messages in Trixi's smoothe word game. How witty.

I'm looking through HB's pics of Yellowstone on Facebook, and they are pretty awesome. Heck, I'd even say that they are "stunnin" enough to help you get over your lost love.
But if not, then there's no need to worry, for time heals all wounds...or so I hear.
