Well thats just your opinion man about Maiden loosing a step. And even if the people at your job think old Maiden is so much better doesn't mean everyone thinks that way. And thats enough of the "Star Trek" cracks. Just because the new album is named "The Final Frontier" doesn't mean it has anything to do with Star Trek. Understand? And I'm not saying that Iron Maiden is better than Judas Priest but if you look at the last album of each Iron Maiden clearly won that round with "A Matter OF Life And Death" over "Nostradamus". And the way things are going Iron Maiden will release The Final Frontier and maybe even start another album before Judas Priest get their new one out. Same with Judas Priest man although Angel Of Retribution kicks ass and is to me the band's 5th best album of all time, many people think that thier best work is from 1976 to 1990 as the Ripper albums and Nostradamus doesn't come close.Jackylone would beg to differ with us I know(lol!) but the truth is that the majority of people like the older stuff.
The big match up is comparing the new Iron Maiden album "The Final Frontier" with the next Judas Priest album and let me tell you that I don't think Iron Maiden is going to beat Judas Priest on an opinon percentage with thier next LP and I don't think the band plans on doing another Nostradamus so Maiden is probably and I underline "probably" going to be crushed to death by this next Judas Priest studio album.Priest can come out of nowhere and thump the heaviest album you've ever heard while there is NO WAY Iron Maiden is capable of doing this Brian.

Well its all about an individual's opinion but in my opinion I think Iron Maiden should of done an old classic album like The Number Of The Beast in its entirety or Piece Of Mind just like Priest is doing with British Steel and I would also not want to hear Nostradamus in its entirety either,I just think it takes time maybe 10 years or so to see if an albums going to bloom into a classic by the opinions of the long time fans or not before they decide to play an entire album live but thats just my take on it.This would give the band a better idea of the majority of what fans want to hear or not to hear. I agree Becks, the name of the new album 'The Final Frontier" sounds like a Star Trek idea,Star Trek had this title for years and even to this day when somebody says The Final Frontier...the only thing you think about is the Star Trek tv series with "Space.....The Final Frontier.....These are the voyagers of the Star Trek Enterprise....ect..ect... so it is not a good idea from the start to have this title.
It could be worse but still, its not a good idea especially if there is indeed a song called "Where No Man Has Gone Before" as those words are at the end of the opening Star Trek narration : "To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before" HAHA! And if that track is the actually title "Murky Space Race"?? That sounds like a level 3 of a Bugs Bunny video game!! lol!!!
And the track title "Longing For Heaven" sounds tame lame pssive and weak, not trying to bring anyones religion into this(another thread for that HA!lol!)but for a heavy metal band "Longing For Heaven" is weak and tame,we don't want to hear about any of this we want something "cool". I'll bet these song titles are the real ones....we'll see.
Well said JD - Priest can come just about out of nowhere with a crazy awesome heavy metal monster! There was the craziness (for lack of a better term) of the Turbo and Ram It Down albums, then along came a little thing called PAINKILLER and it kicked everyones eardrums in to the next dimension. It'll be interesting to see what this next Maiden album will be like - more of what they've done the last few albums, or will they go back to the earlier sound? I do hope they come out with something awesome, but even just the album title alone has already raised a few eyebrows. I reckon Priest will come out with something better than Maiden too, I'm keeping the JUDAS PRIEST HEAVY METAL FAITH!
