Well said JD - Priest can come just about out of nowhere with a crazy awesome heavy metal monster! There was the craziness (for lack of a better term) of the Turbo and Ram It Down albums, then along came a little thing called PAINKILLER and it kicked everyones eardrums in to the next dimension. It'll be interesting to see what this next Maiden album will be like - more of what they've done the last few albums, or will they go back to the earlier sound? I do hope they come out with something awesome, but even just the album title alone has already raised a few eyebrows. I reckon Priest will come out with something better than Maiden too, I'm keeping the JUDAS PRIEST HEAVY METAL FAITH! [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. Ah ha ha,well your right about some things...it does have not "good" vocals but "great" vocals and it has TOP notch guitar solos, excellent bass by the best bass player on the planet hands down, great drums by Nicko but you can keep on thinking that this track sounds like a cross between Hallowed Be Thy Name and The Trooper because I already know I'm not the only one who thinks it sounds NOTHING like those songs at all, that track in my opinion is an under-par song by what should be a great song writting band.
This is all opinions, nobody wins in the end but if we had a vote on this sounding like Hallowed Be Thy Name mixed with The Trooper I'd bet 98% of people would think that it certainly does not. You go ahead and love thier new stuff but I'm not the only one who thinks this band has lost a step.
Even people at my work who are not a part of this forum think that Iron Maiden's newer era material is definately not as good quality as thier 80's stuff,it is what is is guy, this also doesn't make these people right,oh no not at all,as I said its all opinions. If you like the newer Maiden stuff then it "IS" great in your mind case closed. But if you want to talk about percentages then at least I'd probably say that 85% of people do not care for thier newer stuff,it just is what it is.
Same with Judas Priest man although Angel Of Retribution kicks ass and is to me the band's 5th best album of all time, many people think that thier best work is from 1976 to 1990 as the Ripper albums and Nostradamus doesn't come close.Jackylone would beg to differ with us I know(lol!) but the truth is that the majority of people like the older stuff.
The big match up is comparing the new Iron Maiden album "The Final Frontier" with the next Judas Priest album and let me tell you that I don't think Iron Maiden is going to beat Judas Priest on an opinon percentage with thier next LP and I don't think the band plans on doing another Nostradamus so Maiden is probably and I underline "probably" going to be crushed to death by this next Judas Priest studio album.Priest can come out of nowhere and thump the heaviest album you've ever heard while there is NO WAY Iron Maiden is capable of doing this Brian.

Hmmmm, folk song, thats interesting but it sounds like Maiden to me. I'm scratching my head on this one man. Folk song? Ha!! This thing has it all, good vocals, good solo, fast, slow. What else do you want? This is like a cross between Hallowed beThy Name and the Trooper. Doesn't get much better. | | J.D. DIAMOND wrote: | |
