WHAT ARE JUDAS PRIEST GONNA DO TO US WITH THERE NEXT ALBUM
[ron h] Monday, March 15, 2010 2:06:06 PM
I would say there was the use of a drum machine and perhaps Scott Travis did a little "uncredited" work...just me thinking out loud.

Ha! Had nothing to do with his race, or maybe it did, but he was "good' with the Nickname, or it would not have stayed round so long.
I don't think  Mr. Campbell had a problem wtih the name.

I kind of thought that when I read Spapad's line-up post.
The name "Congo" gave it away but I thought maybe that's a
little racist thinking on my part. Since I don't consider myself
to be a racist I thought I would just ask.
                   -Peace!

Here's one I don't know. Maybe you can help.  I saw an early picture of Judas Priest where one of the members
was a black guy with a big ol' fro. Who is he?
[Budred] Saturday, March 13, 2010 11:42:09 AM
Here's what I got (only because I cheated).
Guitarist John Perry started Judas Priest.
He quickly died and was replaced by Earnest Chataway.
Bassist Bruno Stappenhill.
Drums John Partridge.
Singer Alan Atkins.

Yes Bud, it was Tom. I was just comming up with something easy off the top of my head. LOL

Now, your talking the priest line up orginal?? Before KK and Ian joined?? I'd never get that without looking it up.

With them: Alan Atkins, Chris "Congo" Campbell, Kenneth Downing, and Ian Hill.

Best I can do without a book in front of me. LOL

OK,  just to save this thread from certain death. LOL                Who was the producer of Judas Priest's most successful albums?  It's so easy my child could answer it. lol

Sorry, Spa...but I already answered it a couple of posts back (the question, that is). It was Chris Tsangerides, for A Touch of Evil...on the Painkiller album.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by spapad from Thursday, October 22, 2009 1:11:29 AM)

Dont know what I was thinking. As usuall, your question is smartass and you demand a more technical answer than there is really is.
Answer: Less Binks, Beyond the Realms of death, off of Stained Class.

Here's one for some people that might not know.

Who engineered, produced, and co-wrote a song for Judas Priest?
[ron h] Thursday, October 15, 2009 5:49:57 PM
My guess would have been POE.

I read that too. It's in Heavy Metal Painkillers but I can't find it. I don't think it was DOTF as I found a quote from Ian stating it was one of his favorite albums. I will continue to search and let you know.

Spapad,

Not sure if your post was in response to my question or the question regarding Crazy Bob.

But if it was mine, I actually do not remember the article, but his comment stuck with me.

I believe it makes sense.

That was right around the time Rob quit chemicals (per se).  I LOVE DOTF.  But I does have "kind" of a depressing theme.

I personally could get real mellow listening to Night comes down, Heads, HD/DOTF even sentinel.  Not that the music doesn't have power - it does.  It is just emotional. (Especially AFTER a few scotches ;-> )

So I think that Ian could feel that way.

Plus I did read it...............

Sorry....didn't think anyone cared.

Regarding which album/tour did Ian Hill say, "Thank God we are done with that album......it was so depressing."   ?

Ian Hill said this right after finishing the "Defender's of the Faith" tour regarding the album.

BTW - This Outlook/view from Ian and IF shared by the rest of the band, (and what ever chemicals they may have been involved in), could have been an influence as to why Turbo was so "UPPY" in content.

Just my thoughts.

Mr. S Leather Co.

Ok, I cede...this is the quote I was going off of (I did get the name of the show wrong and you have more details than I had to work with...)

"In actual fact, it was the Osmonds who objected. Donny and Marie were on the same show and they said that if the whip wasn't taken off, then they were going home! They were a much bigger attraction than us, so we didn't really have any choice but to drop it. Funnily enough, I was in the make-up room at the same time as Marie Osmond and it was very amusing because there she was with her hair in curlers, being made up. I sat down and was told, 'You don't need anything, you're OK' - usually they have to cover up any greasy spots or zits. I'll never forget this, but Marie looked over and just smiled... Even with curlers and no make-up, she is a stunner!"- K.K. Downing, Heavy Duty official biography, 1984

[spapad] Saturday, July 11, 2009 9:46:46 AM
The show was "Top of the Pops" And it was Rob who told Marie she didn't need any make up, trying to charm her into saying yes to the whip. It didn't work. KK did recall looking at Marie as he sat opposite of her in another Make up chair, when the make up artist told KK he didn't need and fixing Marie looked at him and smiled, KK recalled her to be a "Stunner".

What was the name of the London Leather shop that KK and Rob first visited to get the band's new gear?

[ron h] Saturday, July 11, 2009 6:50:05 AM
Well, I can't find where I read that at...but yes it was Marie Osmond, hair all up in curlers and everything...the accessory was Halfords whip and I believe the show was called The Tube...

And no Ron the make up person told him he didn't need any make up, not Marie, she just smiled at him.

OK, seems activity has died so I'm gonna throw one out there, pretty easy for the die hards I'd assume...

...There was program that Priest was gonna be on and another act was performing on the same show as well.  The other act was more popular at the time (and carried a little weight) and was opposed to performing if Halford went on stage with a 'particular accessory'...also, one member of this act interupted KK's make-up session and told him he looked fine and didn't need any make-up...

...What was the name of the program, who was the other act, and who walked in on KK???
