Calm down Pip, I think you're missing the point here...no one is knocking you!!! We make fun and tease, it goes both ways as you do it as well...this is different in the sense that the title of this thread is Classic Heavy Metal...Winger wasn't around at the time the Classic bands were doing their thing...Def Leppard was and I can make the argument that their first 3 albums can in fact fit the description, from Pyromania on, NO, they do NOT fit the script. Not only that, your debates about the other bands you mentioned were done in the appropiate way and threads...and I have never seen anyone being mean to you about your opinion...giving you a hard time and being disrespectful are two totally different things. I'm sorry that things aren't going well for you at home, most of us are having a hard time as well, but I think you might be letting loose on us while having a heavy heart in matters that are much more important than what's going on here. I think if you sit back and catch your breath a little, you'll see this for what it is... Okay, fair enough.
If I follow your logic Judas Priest became a full-blown poser band in 1986 when they released the "Lemon". Yah, I'm talking about Turbo. That album is a 1980's cheesefest. Everything about the Turbo era was cheesy: the outfits, the hairdos, the girly metal look, the "check out my hairless chest" outfits... The only thing Rob did back then was walking around with that silly mullet. It was even a million times cheesier than any Winger record. It was so cheesy that it made me cringe everytime I heard it. It was so cheesy that I decided to throw my copy in the trashcan. Ram It Down wasn't any better! "Love Zone", anyone? LMAO!
Winger definitely represents a certain genre that a certain group of people don't like. But at least they sticked to their guns and always continued to release melodic metal albums, even in the early nineties when everybody jumped on the alternative bandwagon. Rob Halford on the other hand has followed just about every trend in rock music. He released heavy metal albums when heavy metal reigned supreme during the early eighties. During the mid eighties glam became all the rage and he decided to put out a glam album in 1986... and another one in 1988... During the early nineties he suddenly became "alternative" and released a few grunge albums with Fight. After that he changed styles again by releasing a trendy industrial record. And so on... and so on... According to your logic this makes Rob one of the biggest posers in rock history. Now how do you live with that?

Posers eh? Dude WTF? It's fine if you don't like Winger, but calling them posers is just plain wrong. They're all great musicians. That's not an opinion, it's a fact. There is a reason why they were called the glam version of Dream Theater.
Reb Beach is a guitar virtuoso. That man is up there with Eddie Van Halen, KK Downing, Glenn Tipton and George Lynch. You don't believe me? Check it out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8q0Mb_uOG8 This man is a class act and you can't deny that after watching that video.
Kip Winger himself is one of the greatest rock n' roll singers of the 1980's. He played bass on several Alice Cooper records. Is Alice Cooper a poser too?
Rod Morgenstein is a great drummer. He's plays the drum kit left handed like it's nothing. He's a professor teaching percussion at Berklee College of Music in Boston. You might not like the man, but he's no poser.
Look dude, we all have our own tastes, but you should really loosen up and stop talking like a fundamentalist. Motorhead Bastards 2003
Even though technically Lemmy says they are not heavy metal.....motorhead's new wave of british heavy metal sound leaks through from time to time .....
Motorhead has a dirty greasy biker rock feel to them and some riffs dip in and out of british styled heavy metal but not so much that gets your mind off of thier brand of excellent hard rock.
Motorhead has every right to be in this thread. Shit....even Def Leppard's High And Dry could fit in this thread and would not be an insult as much as "Winger".
This album is a great Motorhead album.12 songs on this disc and there are only 3 tracks I don't care for...but the other 9 songs are classic Motorhead.
Tracks like the opener "On Your Feet Or On Your Knees"....."Burner"......."I Am The Sword"....."Born To Raise Hell"......awsome album.

Here's what I found on Wikipedia:
"Rod Morgenstein is an American drummer and music educator. He is best known for his work with the late '80s heavy metal band Winger."

Yeah, I don't care. Why should I care? This whole thing is rediculous. I came to this thread and posted something about Winger and then suddenly this J.D. Diamond keyboard hero calls me names and behaves like I broke into his house and raped his wife. WTF? This dude is a fundamentalist with absolutely no sense of humor. So no, I'm not impressed with this fruitcake. The man is so over the top, that it's actually pretty funny. He's desperately trying to intimidate me, but all he does is amusing me.
You should check my posts and compare them to his: I don't call people names. I keep always keep it decent.

I like a healthy debate, but I will not continue this discussion with you. You simply can't have a mature debate with someone who uses double standards and likes to call people names. We will simply have to agree to disagree. End of story.
I noticed that you are the most respected member of this board, but I couldn't care less about that. You don't own this place. Better keep that in mind, buddy. This section of the board is called "Beyond the realms of Priest" for a reason. So in this section I can post anything I want. And besides: everybody has his own definition of classic heavy metal. It's a personal thing. To me "Winger" is definitely a part of that movement, which means I have every right to post in here.
