I watched "Bad Teacher" last night. Not great but it had some funny parts.
It also had some some Priest music in it.. A little bit of "You've Got Another Thing Comin'"
near the beginning and a little bit of "the Ripper"  near the middle.
I'll give it  a thumbs up just for that.

To get any old-school video game is a relatively easy process (says the nerd) once you get the hang of it.

First, you need the free program MAME (Multi Arcade Machine Emulator): mamedev.org/release.html

That is what runs all arcade programs. If you are running Windows, download the *.exe (second in the download list).
This program is all you really need. However, the interface isn't graphical by default. I recommend running MAMEUI but there are tons of "front ends" that let you just click and run a game: www.mameui.info/

Final thing is the game itself. Just do a search for tron.rom There are a ton of sites but here is one great one: www.romnation.net/srv/roms/25758/mame/Tron-set-1.html

Whole trick is to make sure you know where you are installing things. You have to get any ROM into the folder called "rom" (duh). Do it properly and you should see an arcade machine icon in your MAMEUI folder. Shoot down to Tron and double-click. If you remember the original game, a joystick for your computer is the best way to run it.

Like I said, though, you are on your own to supply the blacklights.

Oh, how easily they forget. Bubo, best golden owl EVER!
(I thought your daughter liked "ALL Greek movies"?) Not that any except the one I mentioned were actually GREEK, she should have loved the first Clash! Greek in theme, no? Perhaps she didn't love Perseus? She should have loved the rest of the film, though.

Come on, now. Defend the "Kings of Mykonos!" HAAAAAA!!!!!!

I take it for granted that she liked "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" but how about "The Kings of Mykonos?" BLEAH!!

Ah, you are very young, then. No worries. You mentioned the "1st one" which would have been the early '80s.

Like saying that the first King Kong starred Jack Black. We are talking apples and oranges.Glad you liked the follow-up to the remake of a classic.

@HB - I still want to turn on the blacklights in my room when I play the ORIGINAL (yes, there were remakes to the game too) Tron on computer.

What? Im just saying (2012) Wrath was better than the (2010) Clash.
I havent seen the very first clash of the titans and Im not talking about the very first clash of the titans.

Clash of the titans was the first one and Wrath of the titans was the second one. From 2010-2012
I have the right film.

WHAT?!? Better than the FIRST one?!? You are playing with an icon with that statement.

I suppose it should be noted that there was no first one - that was "CLASH of the Titans." Sure you have the right film? They did remake CLASH but no Burgess Meredith or claymation and I am prejudiced right from the start.

I suppose I'll have to see it before I pass final judgement but that statement is like saying the remake of Tron was better than the original to an old-school fan!

Oh, right on the money! The bouncing cam did NOTHING (sure, make it look like there is some action happening when there is none). They look like they are going to OZ and yet manage to survive without food or drink. Made no sense to someone who didn't read the book. I was thinking the entire time: Running Man! Fine short story, BTW. Got it here in front of me.

I read reviews later that said that the makers of the Japanese film, Battle Royale, should have sued them. I haven't seen it but have it on my Netflix list as of tonight.

3D has come a very long way!! I remember going to see Jaws 3D and thought that was cool back then, but NOW! Holy Crap! We saw How To Train Your Dragon in 3D at the IMAX and it was AMAZING! It was like they were flying all around you and you were part of the movie. I can't wait to see Transformers in 3D - my boys are going to love it!

I haven't got to see the new Transformers but I bet it does look fantastic in 3D. The last 3D I saw was the last Pirates of the Caribean. It really had no need whatsoever to be 3D, and by the script they were surely hoping 3D might cover up the fact they were scrapping the bottom of the barrel on that film.
However, I will stop everything I'm doing next week and go see the last Harry Potter.

LOL ... that would be me.  We live in an apartment building and there are a couple of families of birds living in the trees nearby.  One in particular sits on a wire and talks, as if broadcasting to the rest of the birds.  Same bird everyday.  Anyway ... will be sure to choose the healthier seed should I decide to secretly feed the birds : )

Becks, HRMG, and all.  I am too chicken to have another pet.  I refuse.  Not that I do not love animals.  Quite the opposite.  Sorry for your family's loss Becks.  HRMG, the decision is difficult.  But at the end of the day is the most humane.  Sending support if that day has to come anytime soon ~

If she does, and has been feeding them pure seeds or heavy millet for years, be aware that it is a battle to get them to switch. Look at the Roudybush website for instructions or google "converting your bird to pellets" for more info. You just can't switch main diet from one day to another. All but that budgie I saved from the dumpster were always on pellets. Took QUITE some time and patience to convert the budgie. Sadly, too late. Necropsy showed exactly what I described. Died of fatty liver disease.

[guidogodoy] Saturday, July 09, 2011 11:32:05 PM
Yup. Leads to "fatty liver disease" which does away with many a bird. Also not a good idea to feed them seeds as they are also high fat. Just junk food, really. Even those mixes are a bad idea as birds tend to only eat the "twinkies" leaving all the "veggies." That is why most bird experts feed birds extruded pellets. Basically takes a better mix of the good and bad and fortifies it with vitimins and minerals. ZuPreem, Roudybush, something along those lines in terms of pellets are always better.

That is for parrots, cockatiels, budgies, etc., though. A canary, on the other hand, is a higher energy bird and can get away with a seed diet and more millet as a treat. Depends on the type of bird.

HRMG - I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet boy...there is nothing as awful as coming to that point in a pet's life where you must make decisions...they truly are the most loyal and loving and honest 'friends' we could ever have.  I can't imagine a world without dogs or cats. They give us so much and as for nothing in return.  Just keep loving him the way you have been and hope for the best.  He sounds like he has had a wonderful life with people who adored him, and that means everything, so just keep on treasuring him each day that you've got him.  I'm sure he knows that whatever you decide, it is a decision made with love and respect for him.  If you can and want to, post a pic of him so we can 'meet' him.

Very touching conversation here and I simply wanted to butt in to send my best to your pooch and your family, HRMG. Having just come back from the store where I got Kiko (and Fred) some celebratory millet, you know how much I adore animals. Neither get this treat very often as it is akin to giving twinkies to birds, but it is her birthday. Adoption day, really. I pulled out her papers and found that I got her 11 years ago to the day, thus the celebration. I mentioned it before but I actuallly adopted Kiko to be a companion to the parakeet I rescued from a dumpster (yeah, thrown away in the cage) years before. Sadly, that parakeet died two days before Kiko arrived. Odd how all of this turns out. I've said it before but while Calvin gets most of the spotlight, Kiko has always ruled the house having bonded to me almost the moment she arrived.

All the best from my feathered and furry family to yours.

My mum had to make that awful decision on thursday - worse that she was at work, her dog was on the operating table and she had to make that call over the phone (11 year old labrador, good age for that breed of dog, but they found a massive tumour around her heart). She called me while I was at work to let me know and it was awful, but it was the best thing for Zoe. She was well loved and had a great life, just like your doggy! Enjoy every second with him All our animals are the same age, which could work out quite bad but I wouldn't change a second of our time together.

My sister gave her dog an arthritis drug, which they got for free because her husband was a drug sales rep. That helps. Their boy lived to the age of 19 and he was half collie half chow, a big boy like your's. Here's to hoping the drugs keep working. I could ask my brother in-law what kind of arthritic drugs he carries. He represents Merck, I don't know who makes Rymadyl. If it's Merck wont hurt to ask about it.

They bring so much joy to our lives, don't they? I think they are the best part of us in a way -  they love to play and completely enjoy life, even the simplest things make them happy. Our lives are made richer by their love and loyalty. Thank you so much for your words Spa, I can't begin to tell you how much they meant to me. Lucy is a sweetheart and she is just as lucky to have you as you are to have her. Spoiled rotten, I'm sure she is! So is mine, laying on my leather sofa right now. He still has that sparkle in his eyes and just chased a bunny the other night (one of his true joys in life!) and maybe that tweaked his leg. He'll let me know when it is time and I know it isn't time just yet. Thank heaven for Rimadyl that's all I can say. The aspirin just wasn't cutting it anymore and the vet gave us enough for a week to try and things just completely turned around. Very expensive, but his quality of life has improved dramatically and it's worth every penny and then some.

Bud, there is an odd thing about all of us. We feel we can not do pet ownership again after a loss, but then one day when you least expect it a animal captures your heart and you just can't walk away. Lucy, my dog now, did that to me. She was malnurished and looked god awful, but she was young and so sweet. I brought her home and never regreted it. I might have a few times when I had to teach a 1 year old how to toilet outside, but that was the only time. lol She's now a bit chunky, but not too fat and she's spoiled rotten. The love is just as great for her.

I should have stayed away from this page. I feel so bad for you.
Doing what you may have to do is one of the worst things one has
to do. They were only cats but I had to do it three times in a two year
period and it crushed me. One was 15, one 11, and one 9. I said I
would never have pets again because of it. Of course a year later I
had another cat. I never will have more than one animal at a time
again though. It's too tough to deal with at the end. I'm really sorry
you have to deal with it now. My only advice is think of the dog more
than yourself. Don't make him suffer just to keep him around.
Take care.

Thanks Spa, that means so much to me. He is 15 and my first baby. He made our house a home. He is having more bad days lately and is going through a tough time at the moment. But they have passed before and maybe it will pass again, I don't know. We put him on Rimadyl and he seems so much better. But I think he may have degenerative myelopathy that German Shepherds get. Either that or hip dysplasia. He will let us know when it is time, I'm sure of that. I don't want to do it too soon, but I also do not want him to suffer..... it's a very hard decision and one that I have to feel that I did the right thing or I will never forgive myself. So I cherish every single day we have together and treat him like the King that he is!

I know that feeling my friend. Max was about 11 1/2 when he was diagnosed with Cushings. I asked about the meds and they said it would only make his life about six months longer and the quality of life would go down. Needless to say, I let him be happy until his last days without the drugs.
I know how much Wolfie means to you and it will hurt. Hurts just as bad as the passing of any loved one. My daughter and I still talk about Max and Bella and we remember them fondly now, and on occasion a few tears still spill.
They come into our lives and give love and acceptance, and you will never forget it. I'm sorry your at the time the decision must be made, I know how bad that feels. Very sorry.

I can't wait to go to the final Harry Potter film! I'm going opening night though because it's too crowed and I hate winding up with a crappy view.

Guido the dog movie sounds good.

Bud, Marley is tuff at the end but the movie is really good. I remember reading Marley and Me to Flora when she was young, and I was crying like a baby last few pages............so was Flora.

Braveheart is the best movie I've ever seen.  Often joke Chaucer, Shakespeare... and Mel Gibson???
[Budred] Saturday, July 09, 2011 9:12:42 AM
You had to say cry didn't you. I love animals but probably wouldn't watch it because of the sadness factor.
I was all for Marley and Me and until I saw it was a tearjerker and now I won't watch it. Hell, I'm still traumatized
from Old Yeller. Here's an example of how much I like animals. This happened yesterday. I was sitting here at
the computer when something caught the corner of my eye. I thought it was my cat so I didn't even look. Then
it caught my eye again and this time it was about 5 times bigger than my cat. There was a dog walking between
my couches. I was like "Hey!!" and it walked back into my kitchen. I was clapping at it to go outside. It would take
a couple of steps and then look back. When it got outside on my steps it stopped and was looking back at me.
It was an old dog and I was feeling sad for it. I called the wife at work and left a message telling her about the dog.
When she got home she drove up town and bought a 16 pound bag of dogfood. Now were just waiting for the old
dog to come back. As you can tell my wife loves animals too.

And Vail., I saw the preview for Cowboys... two days ago. That looks like it will be cool. Seems original too. Not too many
westerns(if any) with Aliens.(LOL) I'll probably hit the drive-in for that one.

THIS one will. Even more as it is a true story. Simple plot but very well done. It didn't attract me right away but was certainly well worth it.

Ah crap! All of you watch the movie I mentioned. it is a tear-jerker but funny in parts. Sniff. Touching film. Even made me watch the "extras" to see how they made it.
[Vaillant 3.0] Saturday, July 09, 2011 1:39:06 AM
Yup. It would have been nice if they shaved off at least 30 minutes. Cool to hear Bad Teacher at least has some good music. The Ripper! For Transformers 3 we got Linkin Park again.

The next movie I'm thinking about watching is Cowboys and Aliens. Looks funny.

Whoa it's 3 hours? Way too long lol. I haven't even seen the second Transformers movie. Last movie I saw was Bad Teacher, we had vouchers, so I'm glad we didn't have to pay. It was kinda funny, kinda stupid, but it had two Priest songs in it! YGATC and The Ripper! So that was cool.
Before that I saw Bridesmaids and enjoyed that, it was funny!

Just read a review of that movie earlier today. It was ripped for that very reason.
[Vaillant 3.0] Friday, July 08, 2011 11:23:30 PM
I watched Transformers 3 last weekend with the family.

Now then. I love to watch giant CG-animated robots rip each others throats in slow motion as much as the next moviegoer, but after 3 hours, it tends to get a tad tiresome. Thumbs up for the comedy and the senseless violence, thumbs down for the movie's duration.
[guidogodoy] Friday, July 08, 2011 10:54:03 PM
Holy shit. I was the last one to post here?!?

Anyhoo...movie I highly recommend to anyone who is an animal (dog, specifically) lover - "Hachi: a Dog's Tale (2009)." Richard Gere, Jason Alexander and, most importantly, a great akita dog. Real story and good for the whole family. www.imdb.com/title/tt1028532/

I sure as hell would (like my hours back from the 2010 fiasco, that is)! More like 12 hours as I kept falling asleep. HORRIBLE film. Poor acting, bad story (move it to CHINA?) had that one kid with a pseudo-mohawk just so you could tell him apart from the others. MISERABLE movie. That is putting it lightly.

Yes, not a patch on the original with Macchio and Morita. I still watch it every time it's on, seen it about 900 times so far. They should have brought Ralph Macchio in for a cameo somehow.

OMG. Someone should wish ME a Happy Mother's Day today. I finally managed to finish the remake of the Karate Kid. Yeah, the 2010 version with Jaden Smith. Someone somewhere told me that it was worth the watch so I rented it for a buck and just burned it to my HD.

I am an insomniac and damned if I didn't find my cure. Film put me to sleep 8 times but I was gonna finish it, damnit! Having now done so, I feel like I have given birth. It was one of the most god-awful experiences of my life. I thought Jackie Chan might prove to be a redeeming quality? Nope, was I wrong.

Forget water-bording. This film was pure torture and will be deleted and zero-ed out of my harddrive. Avoid like the plague. Must go vomit....

Another recently watched but not new movie I like is "Pineapple Express"  A little dumb and a  little over the top

Saw two good ones last night, The Men Who Stare At Goats with George Clooney and Ewen MacGregor about this program the military have devised to fight wars using psychic means ( like jedis). Really funny. Also saw The Book of Eli with Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman. It's Mad Maxesque Sci Fi about a traveller, Eli, who is protecting a book which is believed to be able to give the power to control the world.

I saw that movie last week with a friend. Sweet movie, pretty Star Wars-ish (is that even a word?). I was expecting some more 3D effects, though, so in that field I was a tad disappointed.

Went to the new 3D Tron movie yesterday. Pretty good time waster. The most amazing SFX were how they made Jeff Bridges look 30 years younger. Actually speaking of JB, saw him in another film the other day called Crazy Heart, he played a down on his luck alcoholic country singer. Was pretty funny. Reduced to playing gigs in bowling alleys etc, having to leave the stage to puke. Also saw the new Karate Kid movie with Jackie Chan and Will Smith Jr, lamo, not a patch on the original which I have seen a million times and still watch every time it's on.

I just saw Zack and Miri Make a Porno.  It's a great movie.  Really funny.  It's about these two friends,Zack and Miri, who live together in an apartment.   Their electricity and water gets shut off  and they have no money so they decide to make an adult film.
