Jeez...isn't that a leettle too much? A 3D fake kid running out in front of a driver?? Even as a bike-rider I'd swerve out of control. Guess the good news here is that it's only temporary.

Shocking new 3D speed bump illusion of girl crossing the road that suddenly 'appears' in front of drivers
By Niall Firth
Last updated at 4:08 PM on 8th September 2010
It sounds like a terrifying experience that would make even the most seasoned of drivers panic or even crash.
But a school in Canada is using a bizarre 3D optical illusion of a young girl crossing the road to try and make drivers slow down.
The image of a girl chasing after a ball is painted on the road and elongated to make it appear three-dimensional when seen from an approaching car.
The image of a girl rears up out of the road to alert drivers to their speed
Critics say that the child’s image could surprise drivers so much that they will slam on the brakes or even swerve off the road if they do not realise the girl is just an illusion.
At a distance it just looks like a marking on the road but when the car is 30 metres away it appears to suddenly rise up from the road.
When the driver is closer than 30 metres the image appears to sink back into the road.
If a car is travelling at the speed limit for the road, 30km/h, then he should be able to stop in time before he reaches the image.
Safety experts say the alarming image is designed to teach drivers to always be prepared for the unexpected.
The illusion is to be placed on the road outside École Pauline Johnson Elementary School in West Vancouver in Canada and will be accompanied by a sign which reads: ‘You’re probably not expecting kids to run into the road.’
Council bosses in the area say that the illusion will encourage drivers to drive defensively, as though a child could run out into the road at any moment.

News really sucks. While I can hear all about Paris Hilton's latest drug arrest 24/7, one has to search for actual news. Just reading up on the mining disaster in Chile, for example. Not a WORD of it on the 100+ channels of crap I have on TV. Imagine being trapped in a hole for 4+ months. Sure makes Paris seem petty.
In reality you take a chance living anywhere in NZ, as the whole country is astride a fault line. It's only a matter of time before an enormous one hits unfortunately. The time this one struck has a lot to do with the fact there has been no deaths, it struck at 4:35am local time.
Christchruch is on this map here, so you can see where it is relative to other cities :

Parts of the central city are in ruins, but there have been no deaths thank God, two men have been seriously injured and there have been other minor injuries. Water mains have burst and seweage lines have burst too, hopefully that is all under control by now, or soon.

BEAUTIFUL glacier. It would be great to be able to hike around there. Not so sure about skydiving in the mountains off and onto a giant moving body of ice.

Yeah we've had heaps of news about the mining disaster, who gives a stuff about stupid Paris Hilton!
Far out today should just be declared over for NZ, there's been a plane crash at a place called Fox Glacier (on the south island also) with reports of 9 being killed. Holy hell....

Glad to hear you and yours are alright, Becks.

Hi everyone, been away for a couple of days at a meeting but back home now. Been a massive earthquake in a city on the South Island called Christchurch, I used to live there, and ironically don't remember ever experiencing an earthquake in the 3 years I was there, but heaps of small ones in the nearly two years I've been back on the North Island! Parts of the central city are in ruins, but there have been no deaths thank God, two men have been seriously injured and there have been other minor injuries. Water mains have burst and seweage lines have burst too, hopefully that is all under control by now, or soon.

Well, I heard about this on the radio this morning, (there was nothing concerning Paris tho) and it was a great relief to hear that no one has been killed in such a catastrophe. Then, 5 minutes later they told about the plane crash. Shit, if its not one thing its the other.

Ha I vaguely remember that show screening when I was younger! It was played with other old timey shows like Mr Ed lol. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by spapad from Friday, September 03, 2010 11:50:45 PM)

BEAUTIFUL glacier. It would be great to be able to hike around there. Not so sure about skydiving in the mountains off and onto a giant moving body of ice.

Far out today should just be declared over for NZ, there's been a plane crash at a place called Fox Glacier (on the south island also) with reports of 9 being killed. Holy hell....

Glad to hear you and yours are alright, Becks.

Parts of the central city are in ruins, but there have been no deaths thank God, two men have been seriously injured and there have been other minor injuries. Water mains have burst and seweage lines have burst too, hopefully that is all under control by now, or soon.

Damn, here I am half a world away trying to decide how the Daily Mail took that location as being near Wellington?? I guess once you get off your own front porch things just get more generalized. WTF!? I suppose it's like going to a city and getting lost via Mapquest. They will get you there all the way, and then fuck up the last turn! lol [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Becks from Friday, September 03, 2010 8:36:35 PM)

[ron h] Wednesday, August 25, 2010 6:42:41 AM
Good day fellow Metalheads
First and foremost, I'd like to wish the Metal God a very Happy Birthday!!
All I really have to say today is a big fat THANK YOU Rob for touring this year. It had been a very long time since I'd seen / heard him sing last and here it is a full week later and I'm still riding high!! Of ALL the Metal bands I've ever listened to throughout my entire life, NOT ONE of them does for me what Priest and Halford do!! NO ONE else can scream like him AS WELL AS bring out the emotion in a beautiful ballad...NOT ONE!! I still have goosebumps!!
Once again Rob, Happy Birthday and a warm heartfelt THANK YOU!!!!

I'll mail it to you when I come back to the States.
Yup, it's looking clogged up, alright. Sucks. At least the hive isn't getting bigger. It can't expand if the bees can't get through the funnel from outside to bring in the nectar, right? [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Saturday, August 21, 2010 1:26:05 PM)

Bees? They are still there. Guy came by and said that they SEEM to be moving to the bee-box but I really have no direct proof of that affirmation. All I see are a bunch of dead bees in that wire mesh and more coming out every day. I'll have to take a look in the hot sun tomorrow and take a closer look. I'll snap a pic if I am able.

Maybe it will be better when cooler weather sets in Guid. Of course the way the weather has been this year, I almost expect it to go from Damn Hot to Snow. Why not just skip fall as the weather skiped an actual Spring.
If your bee trap does not work, I think I would turn that funnel into a great 25 foot bee spray destroyer. Just a thought.
Hope you get things better soon my friend. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Friday, August 20, 2010 7:04:45 PM)

No Disturbed!!! (lol) It's all good.
I know we probably like different styles of music but watch Drowning Pool at Ozzfest.
They aren't like alot of today's metal with all the growling, they're a bluesy, heavy, hard rock type band
with a little growling going on. I saw them at Rock on the Range and they were pretty badass.
Sorry about that Budred, I got my shows crossed. Disturbed are playing Saturday and Drowning Pool are Tuesday...too many D's lol
Thanks for the correction Pam...

There is a band playing on the second stage called Kingdom of Sorrow. They freakin' rock but the growling
vocals may turn you off. Lastly, watch Drowning Pool. These guys kick ass. Rock on bro, and I hope your crew
have a great time. Peace!

Morning Guys! Happy Sunday to all. My congrats to MM and ML on their show!! I know that had a blast! Now if they can just handle the addiction...HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too cool, guys! Well done.
So its back to practice for me. The weekend was great. For any of you that do not know, I will divulge the information now!!.... ; We played a showcase on the Las Vegas Strip!! We did a gig at the MIRAGE Hotel!! The place we played is called the BB King Blues Club. The CEO of that room flew in to see our act as well as a few other dignitaries. We played with another act, a "Rat Pack" group that did some Old School stuff (Sinatra, Martin, etc). It was a dream come true, for sure! Many great musicians there and just a wonderful experience.
The idea was to sell our act on a larger scale. Now, I cannot say for sure what will happen. I do not handle the "business" end of our group. I did not talk to the big wigs so I have NO idea if they even liked us or not. Quite frankly, I never even saw any of them but I am told they were there! I did meet with some musicians and chat awhile. It was really cool. Overall, I cannot complain! It was a GREAT experience. I will let you all know what happens! In the meantime, I left a few pics over in the "Pic of You" Thread! I will be in touch!!

Blah,(lol!) if thats whats most important to you than so be it man but in my opinion "who cares about the $cash? I'd rather be in the hole a grand giving 100 CDs away for free just for the exposure for the band.If you can sell 100 cds than good for you bro,but my philosophy is much different I guess. I'm in the middle of recording our EP(4 songs) wich will have CD cover art work, lyrics and photos and when we are finished we will chuck them out for free,I'll probly spend around 400 bucks give or take to make them but even if we spent a grand we'll still pass them out for free! HAHA! Its all good dude so don't get piped, its not a slag but you've got to do what you've got to do.....

SW Airlines was there and the place was packed. Anyhoo, we are in the midst of some very important preparations for something BIG so I am not able to come "hang out" here like I used to! All will be revealed soon enough! There will be a couple pics from Friday's show in the "Picture of You" for your enjoyment. They were actually taken by VEGAS ROCKS magazine, which also was at the show. All very cool stuff!
The Princess and I are leaving tomorrow for vacation down on the beach in San Diego. I will actually have some time for nonsense! HA!! Behave yourselves...and Bud, be cognizant of with whom you chat! Losers are losers and you ARE who you "run with", if you catch my meaning..?

Oh I must have missed that, oops! I hope he's having a good time!
Guido's in Brazil to run the half-marathon (and for some R&R, most likely). He left a brief post in the departure thread. Last time he went he stayed for about a month or so...so it's likely that he'll be there for that amount of time again.

Hiya, Ronny!
Have fun, man! I couldn't see Halford play live when they were in San Fran (lack of money and mode of transportation). Thankfully I got the next best thing: a DVD of "Halford: Live at Rock in Rio 3". Gonna see that later today. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by ron h from Sunday, July 25, 2010 9:42:17 AM)

Well HELLO Vail and Budred!! Good morning to the both of you!!
Things are always quiet around here when the boys are on a sabatical, just seems to be the way it is. Halford touring the summer is the only really cool Metal thing I'm looking forward to. I believe Aug. 17 is when Ozzfest w/Halford hits the Chicago area and I'm so totally stoked to be able to see that!!

Where ya' at Freeze? Where ya' at?
With Guido on vacation and you MIA it's not quite the same here.
Sure, there are still some regulars keeping this site going and yeah'
people are still hating on me but you guys liven this place up some
so get your ass back.
But seriously, at least let us know if everything is still cool in the land of Freeze.
