Roth's voice is a big part of VH for me as well. It reminds me of their first couple albums. Eddie is a genius, I know that. He is great. but Roth and his style helped to define VH and they have not been the same without him. In fact, they are not the same WITH him anymore. Sorry man but I have to call you out on this one. Eddie Van Halen is the most influential and original guitar player of the last 30 years and you say David Lee Roth is Van Halen. I don't think so. Eddie Van Halen is the sound and always will be. Yeah Roth is part of the original sound but they continued on just fine with Sammy Hagar. You can replace Roth but Eddie can never be replaced.
