Aye, I was about to say it wasn't here last I looked!

First off though, I must apologise for my extended absence, I pretty much quit internet in my last week of holiday in order to get an essay done, then I got back to uni to discover I didn't have any... assuming the problem was with the data port in my room (well, everything else in halls has broken at some point) I waited a week for maintainence to tell me the problem was in fact with my computer.. then it took a few more days to find someone who could fix it...

I don't think I've missed any major announcements in the world of Priest, am I right?

Ron, life is too often like this. We get tremendous highs with tremendous lows.  I am so happy that he gets to meet his grandson and that he has you all around to keep him comfortable and to spend as much time with him as you can. Tell him you love him as much as you can and speak about everything that is on your mind. I will be praying for your family and especially for your father.

Freeze, you summed up life so perfectly in that last post! Always with the words of wisdom at the right time, how do you get it right time after time? (Seriously.. a sister needs ideas hear to lift sales rates lol)

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad Ron. I really hope that he responds to the chemo and that he can spend some wonderful moments with his great grandson. We are thinking of you and hoping for the best.

And congratulations to you on becoming a grandpa! Enjoy every moment, they are only little for such a short time. There is just something special about holding a newborn baby. I remember watching my sons for hours and the little expresions they would make and wondering the same thing - what are they dreaming about? This is what life is all about - these wonderful moments. Enjoy!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!!

The one thing I'll always hold near to my heart about this place is how we support each other through the good times as well as the bad.  Sure, as with any family we may not always see eye to eye at times, but when it matters most, you all are there!!

As far as my father goes, anyone who's gone through this knows how tough it is to deal with.  The way I'm looking at it is the family has time to properly say good bye, tell him how much we love him, and make however long he has left as comfortable and peaceful as possible for him.  The one thing he wanted to do was live long enough to see his great grandson, he now is gonna have that chance...

...Loghan was born at 7:34am today.  He's 7lb 4oz, 19 1/2 in., dark curly hair (like me) with deep blue eyes (also like me, for now lol), and the little guy is so peaceful.  Just like when my daughter was born, while holding him as he slept I couldn't help but wonder what in the world he was dreaming about?!?  One moment he seemed to smile, the next he's puckering his lips, the next he kicks his leg or moves his arm...what the heck is he dreaming about???

Enjoying the moment is what I did today, and it will live with me forever!!  Mom is healthy while Dad is exhausted and they're both ready for about 15 hours of uninterupted sleep.  Today is a day for me to count my blessings, and to appreciate your kindness...thank you all!!

Ron, I know you have too much going on right now.  It's a shame that it is a mixed bag of good and unfortunate.   The greatest generation will be around long enough to meet the new generation, THAT takes determination on the bahalf of your father and he must be a true fighter and someone you must be very proud of. With a determination like his, he may just suprise you and be around for quite some time. Attitude and will are such strong driving forces.
Sometimes we get caught up in the little things of life and fail to see beyond that. Know you and yours are on my mind my friend and I hope for the best for you all.

Like DF said, Ron, no need to apologize in the least! In fact, I find it quite humbling that you would even think that with all you have on your plate right now. Take care of yourself and the family, my friend. Don't worry at all about us.

To answer the question, though, yes. That is my little bro. A second question I always got when I first posted those pics long ago was: "is that your father in the scene in the park?" No. The "old man" was the guy who is usually forced to take the picture. Especially when we are skiing.

Congrats on the new gradson. You deserve all the good things life has to offer. Like Freeze said, it is to fragile and, I'll add, too short not to try and live up every moment. I WILL find and scan that Cubbies pic for you. You'll get a laugh.

[Deep Freeze] Sunday, April 18, 2010 8:06:16 AM

No need to apologize, Ron. We are facing a similar situation this weekend, believe it or not. Apparently, the Princess' uncle has been very ill for  several months and fell in his home three days ago. NO ONE came for him and he could not reach a phone so he laid there, helpless, for the entire time! He was placed in ICU last night and she went to the hospital to be with him.  Further, her brother's wife found a lump Friday and has to have emergency surgery next week. In a nutshell, ALL very bad.

I often wonder at times like these about the true fragility of life. Those of us that were around years ago will recall my battle and subsequent life-change. It amazes me how easily we forget that life is so much like a small pool of water in a desert. It exists only so long as conditions allow. The delicate balance that sustains it can change and cause a catastrophic shift in the blink of an eye, yet we go on..everyday..never realizing that we walk a plank in this world and rely on things completely out of our control to keep us from falling. One small change in our world and we start to slip..to teeter..waving our arms desperately as we try to maintain balance... It's only then that we realize there is a VERY real possibility that we will drop. Or that we MAY drop.

I am grateful for each day. I cannot say that this was always so. I worried about tomorrow. I wondered "what will become of me"..? I have come to realize that I can control somethings and others, I cannot. I try, when possible, to live in the moment. Music has made an incredible difference for me. For brief periods, I am transported to another world. Another life. I become someone else. Someone from a dream. I live there for an hour or so and return back to myself and I smile. I know that I am still balanced on that plank..for now. I may fall tomorrow but , then again, I may not. No matter what, I accept that the pool is still there. The water has not dried up and the elements have not conspired against me...today. I drink. I live. I sleep. I do it all again. For now. Enjoy the moment, my friends. Make that moment count. When you wake in the morning and IF the pool is still there, enjoy it again.

Sorry I left so abruptly yesterday Freeze and Guido, this has turned into quite the weekend so far.  Had to go visit my Dad yesterday with my brother as he is now in a conv. home.  He had a kidney removed just after the new year because of cancer and was supposedly cancer free after that.  Two weeks ago he was home watching TV when he felt a sharp pain on his side.  A trip to the emergency room and two days of testing later it was discovered that cancer had returned to his lungs, liver and in his bones.  He's been in and out of radiation since and is rarely awake and coherant.  Tomorrow he starts chemo and that will continue until he can't handle it anymore or it's gone (highly unlikely as it's in his bones now).  So being in what I jokingly call a halfway house, he was up and about and we wound up staying the bulk of the day with him.

On the flip side, my daughter is at the hospital about ready to give birth to Loghan, my grandson.  I'll be heading over there in the next hour or so.

Freeze, one could not claim a love for the game if they didn't know who Vin Scully was.  I did not know he was retiring at the end of the season, he will be greatly missed!!  I completely feel your pain, bro.  Like you, the voice's of summers gone by bring warmth to my heart and a smile to my face...eternal youth and hope!!  Vin Scully is a true living legend!!

Guido!!!  I do remember now that I see it!!!!  A fellow Priest AND Cubs fan, it get's no better than that!!!  And that's your brother with you?  Two peas in a pod I say!!

Sadly, as someone posted right below the commercial I put forth, "local" radio is growing scarce. They DID play it in old Tiger Stadium but not new "Comerica Field."

Oh, don't get me wrong. I stand by MY post 100% (save for that bad Don Henley song and worst running movie ever made). I actually have a picture of old Tiger Stadium in my office. Got the new one too. Bought at a market right in the streets of Greektown. Need I call back that pic of me and my bro with one of my FIRST JP cross pictures during the World Series? Skipped school every opening day. Sadly, to see the Tigs lose most often than not. Sad to say the same for the Cubbies.

Hell, Harry Carey made life a very good thing in the 7th irrespective of the outcome.

Haven't forgotten the pic of me waiting on the platform for the L, Ron. Just can't find it. HAAAAA!!!

Hi Guido!!

I think of spring training and opening day and that song comes to mind every year!!  Is there a pre-game show or telecast on opening day that doesn't open with that song??  I simply love it!!

I was hoping to catch a game this past week but they traveled to Toronto on the day I had the time.  This is twice now I've missed out on visiting that beautiful new staium they play in now.  I like it that it's recessed below street level a good bit so you can catch a glimpse from the strret on the right side of the stadium.

Ron, glad I could find a way to take you with me to "that place". Cubs, Dodgers, Toledo Mudhens...makes no diffference to me. Its all about the time of year and all those things which make it what it is to us. Things that remind of us simpler days. Of family vacations in the mountains or at the beach or wherever. Camping, swimming, hiking. Sitting in that aforementioned chair after all the "eatin" is done and just looking into the night sky... Nothing like a warm, summer evening by the pool.

Freeze, can you paint a picture or what??!!  As a fellow lover of America's past time and this time of the year in general, you 'nailed it' with your words.  Of course I'm a Cubs fan, but my love runs soooooo deep.  No more from me, just gonna slip back into that place your words took me to a moment ago...thank you!!

HAAA!!! Good thing Don Henley is an ass and had his song pulled.

Here would be the tribute to your boys....Imagine the song. Personally, I prefer a local Detroit radio version named after the Strohs' brewery on Gratiot road was burned down. "Out on the road today I saw a Moosehead sticker on a Cadillac, a little voice inside my head said 'buy as six pack go and get a six pack."

Good Morning, all! An absolutely memorable Saturday morning here in Las Vegas. Sun is up early, not a cloud in the sky and the temps should be well over 80 degrees today!! It appears that it will be a great day to do something I truly enjoy;  watch Dodger baseball!!! Ahhhhhh....the summer days are closing in and life takes its slow, lazy turn towards bliss...... It is to weep with joy.

SO good to see Steve (Demon) back with us! One of the true pioneers of this site and a respected, honorable member. I recall, with great fondness, days gone by with him, MM, DAS and so many others that have since found their way out into the world. Change is the one true constant, no? Such days of lunacy. Light hearted fun and a closeness that seems to evade us all too often these days.

Forgive me if I wax nostalgic but those of you that know me well know that the warmth of summer and the long, lazy days thereof are my time. This is the time of year that I love most. The blazing hot sun, the scantily clad ladies, the almost mathmatical beat of the ocean waves, the smell of charcoals as the grill awaits its first sizzle of a nice, juicy steak, the timeless dance of the "Boys of Summer" as they play the game I love so dearly and the moments at night when the warmth of the day seems to linger endlessly on your skin and the stars shine just a tiny bit brighter in the summer skies. The ice cold drinks that soothe your parched throat after a long day in the sun. The music (Priest, of course) playing for hours as your sit deep in your chair by the slowly fading coals of another successful barbeque.... If there is a "god", this is what he meant for all of us. Enjoy your day, my friends. Enjoy it and remember it for these truly are our best days.

It was very nice. But it also shows what a private person Glenn is and I respect him for that. I think I enjoyed the Hobbies page the most. He really shows a passion for fishing. Something I would never have a passion for. I like the fact that even the deep sea fish he catches, he releases. Now, that is a person who loves it just for the sport.

Good morning fellow Metalheads

Freeze, I do agree with your opinion of the bottom feeders that make the occasional appearance here as well as what the band might think if they were following along the jibberish that led to this.  I have pointed the very same thing out on numerous occasions as I'm sure you're very much aware.

Murray has taken a lot of verbal beatings over the years from disgruntled members and I'm sure he's had to fight the urge to respond, I admire his restraint.  Some folks just can't let a bad situation disappear and continue to spew their misguided opinions of his actions (or in some cases inaction).  He's the one that ultimately cleans this place up and it has to be a very time consuming and under appreciated job, no doubt.

I do, however, think that by-in-large the majority of us handle ourselves quite well considering there is no moderator present.  Murray has given us a lot of freedom to express ourselves in pretty much any way we desire as I'm sure the band doesn't want him to censor their fans, which pretty much leaves it up to us to police ourselves.  If it does get to a point where he has to make a public post, there's a very specific reason for it.  All I'm suggesting is that we all take it for what it is as we don't want to find ourselves making the same mistakes (most of us haven't and won't).

No doubt Murray is entitled to an appology, just not from those of us that do show each other respect and handle ourselves with a little bit of restraint.  More importantly, we've had a number of very young fans here that shold not be subjected to some of the threads that are here or language that is used, but that is the responsibility of the individual members as well.

No, Murray should not have to make a public post as we are all very much aware of the rules that do exist.  If the remarks for which he were responding to were made by someone else, he may have very well have banned them, or the account all together, but he didn't.  There is a lesson to be learned here and I hope those that all this is refering to recognize it and carry on accordingly.

I'm sorry if you think I don't feel the same way you do, maybe it's me who is not expressing myslef clearly enough as I really think I do in fact share most of your sentiments.  I just don't think all of us should bow our heads in shame over this is all.

[jimmyjames] Wednesday, April 14, 2010 10:42:05 PM
Well I still think it's pretty funny. Thing is when this blows over something else will start up with someone else. That'll be funny too. Just shows what happens when people spend to much time in front of their computers, they get deluded. Start losing their grip on reality. I find that humourous. The idea of someone staring at words on their computer screen, seething with rage is real funny.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Deep Freeze from Wednesday, April 14, 2010 10:07:00 PM)

[Deep Freeze] Wednesday, April 14, 2010 10:07:00 PM
I am well aware who he was addressing and why. Perhaps I am not communicating my sentiments as well as I should? You see, it is really NOT about whom he addressed in particular. This is about Murray needing to say ANYTHING to ANYONE for ANY reason. We can spin it off on one person if we want but we fail to see the larger picture. It is not funny. It is not humorous in any way. It is an embarrassment to us and a disgrace. We are not children. We should not act as though we are or as though there is some kind of morbid entertainment value in demeaning ourselves and our site.

You are all entitled to feel anyway you want. I am not your father. I have NO control over what you say. I have an opinion and that is all. I see this as a complete and utter disgrace to this Board. There are  a few low-lifes that continue to come here with the sole intent of committing malfeasence. There is NO honor in them. No deceny. No self respect. No manners.

You can take this for what it is worth. If you disagree, you have that right. If the guys were to see what has transpired here of late, I am certain they would agree with me.  No...they likely would shake their heads in disgust and simply not return. Hmm...perhaps they have? LONG ago. Big surprise, huh?

Hey there Freeze, hope all is well with you and yours.

I'm not sure if I missed something or what, but I don't have the same inerpretation of Murray's post as you do.  I took it as Murray taking issue with Steve publicly taking issue with him instead of doing what most sensible people do and send a PM.  He further went on to give an explanation, which I find highly commendable on his part for he didn't have to.

I didn't take it as a message to us all but rather a calling out of an individual.

I will admit that I'm a bit embarassed that it was directed towards a long time member who should know better, as I have been around awhile myself and consider this person a friend on the Board.

Either way, it's a good reminder that respect is a key ingredient to the longevity of this site and a good rule of thumb on these social sites.

Incredible. Murray had to actually come here and make a PUBLIC post about behavior??!?!?! Is this where we have finally arrived? I am completely and utterly disgusted! I mean, honestly people! The WEBMASTER had to admonish us on how to act?!?!?!?! Good lord......

I have championed manners and decency for years on this site. I have, on occasion, behaved in a manner which is beneath me. I believe that, by and large, I have managed to maintain my self respect regardless of the nonsense that seems to go on around here on a regular basis. People are people and there will always be those that simply cannot control their base, ill-mannered personalities. You learn to live with that in a public arena. I have to say, in all my years on this Board, I have had few moments as embarrassing as today's. The webmaster had to come out into the general forum and tell us to act like decent human beings.....

I have not been around as much as usual and that has proven to be a good thing. My time is being consumed with my music (albeit "crappy") and I am terribly tired by the time I have a moment so I have refrained from getting into my usual conversations. I do miss you..MOST of you. I do NOT miss the idiocy. It is sickening to see how certain individuals seem to have absolutely NO problem degrading themselves with their words and actions. No problem at all. Disgusting.

I offer my personal and VERY public apology to MURRAY FRANCIS. I am truly sorry that you felt the need to come out from the "control room" and remind people that we are still living in a semi-civilized world and, as such, we truly need to remember what is and is NOT proper behavior. I am sorry, Murray.

on your forearm. Any pics of it on here or could you put one up? I dig tattoos and wouldn't mind seeing it.
Take care man.

Considering the complete lack of taste in music or anything for that matter and lack of class, in general,  of said person who called the music "crappy" I dare say you can't trust the source on that one. lol Afterall, you would have to sing some emo whiney bs for it to be judged good by someone with such low standards. lol

Sounds great Mike! It might be hard work but it's rewarding work, AND it has to help you feel better physically as well, all that moving about is probably great help to your back and increases mobility. Keep this up and we'll be looking at a slim Freeze a year from now!

Oh my dear, I am truly "livin the life"...!! It is all so incredibly fast-paced! It is also a remarkable amount of work. I honestly have such tremendous respect for Priest and all the other famous professionals that can do this day in and day out, year after year! (Especially at THEIR AGE!!!!) Unbelievable. It is grinding and repetitive and draining! Its funny but, the time onstage is a RUSH yet so fleeting. Its like a brief flicker in time and then you are back to the five hour practices and the same songs over and over and over and over and.....well, you get the idea. All we as fans ever see are the mind-blowing shows and, after a few hours, we go home but THEY go right back to it. Day after day.

It is something for which one clearly needs a tremendous amount of passion. It is just SO much work, not to mention I am already at a severe handicap! When the music plays, I feel like I am not in the real world. I go to another place and float in a "netherworld" and it is just so powerful! (And we are just a little, nobody band!) Then, BAM! We are back and it is pack up the gear and head back to the practice studio to pound out the hours until the next show.  Livin the Life, indeed!   HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A wonderful Saturday morning to all. Had a GREAT show last night! The band we opened for is AFFIANCE. I must tell you, If you can find their MS page, LISTEN to these guys!! They were beyond incredible AND they did not have their singer!!!! (He had a family tragedy and went home). One of the VERY best, unsigned bands I have EVER heard!!!!!! I tell you the truth. They have just finished a US tour and are trying to get back to Cleveland. Apparently, the van they were in died and they had to find other means. Tough luck  on the road...an old story!

Anyhooooo...Hope you all have a nice weekend. I am literally SPENT. Got in around 3 this morning and was up at 8...
[joedraper] Saturday, April 10, 2010 10:29:23 AM
Hi Becks.. How's the new job? I'm recovering from a really hectic few weeks. Life just went by so fast and is only starting to calm down now but for how long.. who knows? lol.
I'm envious of your new Priest goodies. I hope you're enjoying them and the rest of the gems you picked up on the weekend. I'm trying to find a labrador puppy but having no luck.. Not very metal, I know, but I hear they are amazing family dogs. Derek eventually moved in with my neighbour. He is a divorced man who has a ten year old daughter. They fell so in love with Derek and kept asking me if I could find them a dog like him. When we went for walks and they were outside they'd always ooh and ahh over him. She really took such a liking to him and I can't say no to kids so when she looked at me with those big brown eyes I told her dad if they could 'borrow' him. They are a match made in heaven and the bonus is I see Derek everyday and he isn't driving Craig nuts anymore lol. We really tried but they clashed so much. I think Derek was way too protective over me. It helps to see how happy he is now though.

[Becks] Saturday, April 10, 2010 12:01:53 AM
Hope everyone is having a good start to their weekends! I had a bit of a spend up today, while dropping my sister off at a city a couple of hours away. Went in to a new shop in town and was promptly in heavy metal heaven! I got the new Back on Black Unleashed in the East LP, a British Steel LP, Metalogy (no I didn't have this, was proving hard to find), Iron Maidens Powerslave on CD (I have had this on MP3 for ages but like having CDs for the car) and a copy of Wheels of Steel by Saxon. All bought in celebration of my starting a new job on monday! I could easily have spent more. Plus, a shop assisstant saw my hands full of Priest stuff, and engaged me in a Priest conversation, LOL! Asked if I had any Halford stuff i.e. Rock in Rio, let me know Painkiller is coming on Back on Black soon (to which I said yep I know LOL!) and also mentioned the British Steel box set, to which I also told him I know about! He could tell I'm a major Priest fan LOL!
