Yes, I agree totally Spa! WAY TOO MUCH ego there and that's what it's become about, not the music like you said. Too bad too because I used to love them in the early '80s. Although I've never thought that any of them were hot..... So they became more ego driven than music driven as far as I'm concerned. That's about the time they started to suck! Damn shame. They had something and pissed it all away. Sure Steve Harris is hot and so is Bruce, but that doesn't carry a band. Yawns. Man piss on everyone who rips on Maiden. Sure they've gotten all stuck up
with their music, the songs of the new album got stale the second time u heard them,
and they're pretty much pulling what people claim ac/dc did with back in black. Brave New
world would be their BIB album. Fact is though they're still around after 30 years. Still playing
HEAVY METAL(albeit they're own new wave of repatative preachy god worshipping metal)
But hey still got Bruce and Harris and Murray and mcbrain. At least they're still putting out long
talented songs. Cool guitar solos, even though ya the turn from devil inspired songs to Jesus inspired
songs is really really lame....
Fuck it i've got floor tickets for the show this Thursday!!!

Those songs were great because they were INSPIRED by those topics. They felt passionate about it and wrote great songs because they felt something. What I feel is missing now and has been missing for a very long time is the passion and emotion that they used to have. I feel no connection to them now. Music is supposed to make you FEEL something, by the lyrics as well as the music. Maiden makes me feel like I'm sitting in a history class being bored out of my mind and that is NOT what I want when I listen to music! I don't have a problem with the topics they write about, I have a problem with the fact that they no longer put any heart or soul into their music. I said before, why don't they write about something that they give a shit about? This is what I meant by that - put some emotion into it! I think we can all agree, whether we like a Priest song or not, it is always full of passion, heart and soul. You can feel the way that they did when they wrote the song. Priest pours their heart and soul into every note that they write. Iron Maiden no longer does that and THAT is what is missing IMO. I know you may not agree with me and that's fine. I just don't feel it anymore like I used to. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Tuesday, June 22, 2010 2:09:46 PM) | | J.D.
