It makes me laugh that ABBA was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and yet we're still waiting for bands like Judas Priest and Rush to be inducted. Actually, it pisses me off!
[Budred] Saturday, March 13, 2010 12:10:25 PM
Ben Stiller. Just looking at him makes me LMAO.

"Family Guy" Does anyone here watch this? I'm new to it.
The more I watch it the more outrageous it gets.
If you've never seen it give it a try.

[spapad] Friday, February 26, 2010 8:24:29 PM
LOL Hellrider!! Your were wearing 2 different shoes!! HA!! Men do this alot with socks, but not a one would confess to 2 different shoes! Now, women would. I know! I have been around way too many, and when the do something like that it sets a cord in them to confess to a small crowd of women hoping one of them have done it too. Then there is my friend "the teacher" who, after making it half the day had to confess to her students she was wearing mismatching shoes, and only she had noticed. lol

I thought that was a fine metal version of Johnny B. Goode.
I remember the first time I heard it I was like WTF?
Now I think it's badass. But, that's me. To each his own.
[Steve Forrest] Monday, February 22, 2010 1:32:19 PM
I'm convinced that if Judas Priest would do Johnny B Goode, they'll play anything.  Unfortunately, their version of Johnny B Goode sucked out loud. Speaking of Abba, though, Therion did a pretty cool cover of the Abba song Summer Night City. The live version from Live At Midgard is really good. Yeah, J.D., I borrowed your Abba collection. Hope you don't mind! (lol)  You can borrow my Kenny Loggins and Jackson Browne stuff.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Saturday, February 20, 2010 1:55:13 AM
Abba? (lol!) Have you been dipping into my stash Steve?? lol!!

I would like to hear a JP album of all cover songs. All bands do it sooner or later. Let's hear them play some Abba or something.

J.D, I'm now laughing at that mental picture JJ has put  in my mind.. Surely one of our fine artists who grace this board would be kind enough to draw us up a toonish sketch of that? Rob screaming out in the plains as his voice comes out in the form of a blow torch pointed directly at said unsuspecting ostritch? No? C'mon Becks? Surely you can come up with a visual of this for us? lol

Ah yes, Mistah Freakstah. I am a HUGE fan of "studio magic", I assure you. However, it does not do you much good in a LIVE setting. Harmonics devices notwithstanding, there is only so much one can do vocally as the years pass by.  Of course, Rob is an exception and , as I said, can do incredible things with his voice...things that are FAR beyond my modest capabilities and certainly far beyond most.

60 years old....nothing that a little "studio magic" can't take care of.

I would agree with you, Angel. And it is not that Rob is a "has-been" or anything like that. We ALL age, my friends. MANY things happen to our bodies and we are simply unable to do some of the things that we did as youngsters. Rob Halford is incredible. He can still do things that MANY vocalists HALF his age cannot. There is not a doubt in my mind that he still "brings it", night after night.

I would hazard a guess that we'll never hear that verse live that he sings way up in the stratosphere in Dreamer Deceiver.  "We are lost above, floating way up high.  If you think you can find a way.  You can surely try."  That's one of my Top 5 Priest faves!

I was supposed to be doing some researchh on a story I need to write.. So I'm listening to some BBC4 short stories on my laptop and the last one I listened to was so boring that I dosed off lol. I've just woken up fresh and ready to get some fresh air before I fall into a coma or something...Guess I won't be using tips from that one for inspiration pmsl!
[Steve Forrest] Wednesday, January 13, 2010 12:11:31 AM
I can't believe that Rob Halford wasn't even CONSIDERED for a "best supporting actor" oscar for his performance in the movie Spun!
[Deep Freeze] Sunday, January 10, 2010 9:20:23 AM
Well, I do hope you are right my friend. I would love to hear something more "classic" on the next album. I am one of those that have said openly that Rob does not hit "those notes" anymore. I think it is important to qualify that statement by saying that he is not  hitting the same notes he did MANY years ago at the same pitch. He is a 60 year old man. Yes, he IS the Metal God and can do things most human beings cannot, but he IS human. He can still do things that are just incredible. I admit that. When I say he "cannot hit those notes", it is not a rap against him at all. It is just a statement of fact.  One need only listen to Painkiller live today to understand what I mean.
