Rise Against. That's a name I haven't heard since my high school years (i.e. not too long ago). I remember seeing one of their music videos on MTV 2 and thinking that it was pretty good...too bad I can't remember the name of the song. I saw some bands this weekend that I never saw before who surprised the crap out of me.
1. Skillet. A christian band of all things but they put on an awesome live show.
2. Five Finger Death Punch. I thought they were weak, WRONG!!! They are the new Pantera (live).
3. Halestorm. Not the greatest album but a very good, high energy show.
4. Rise Against. Very heavy performance.
I have seen alot of bands but realize it took me 32 years to do it. Oh' and a little cash(LOL).

Very entertaining show. As for 5 Finger Death Punch, I have listened to them but I really didn't care for their
music. They sounded so much better and heavier live. I bought tickets for Mayhem Festival yesterday because
of them and Rob Zombie. Rob put on a tremendous show. Very theatrical with the stage show and production.

HAAA!!! Are you kidding?! I went to school with him!
John Lowery. Local boy gone gold. He always was just a wicked musician playing many instruments even way back. He took off to LA with a buddy of mine (GREAT bass player) after high school and, obviously, you see the end-result. Amazing guitarist. He has a website that you can find with a simple google search.
Here is one of my fav tunes. Really nice guy but, wow, what a success story. Had I known, I would have told you to tell him Guido says hola! LOL!
Jimmyjames or Guido (or anyone).
Any info on John 5 that you guys may have could you please pass along.
I know a fair amount of people here are not into the same music that I am
but I highly recommend you guys check this dude out. Incredible guitar player.
I honestly can't remember the last time I heard a crowd cheer for a solo
like the crowd did this weekend. Everyone was roaring for this guy.

I made a mistake with that one. I had never heard of Whitesnake before I saw them.
After I saw them they changed their sound and some band members and I just thought Coverdale was
one of the new guys. I watched the video JimmyJames posted and he looked a little different than after Slide It In.
I was actually shocked to learn he was with them the entire time. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by acolyte55 from Friday, May 28, 2010 1:57:08 PM)

Pretty sure it would have been Coverdale, don't think anyone else has fronted that band. Here's some footage of them around that era.
I must be mistaken on that one. I thought they had a different singer. I thought
Coverdale joined them after I saw them. I see where Coverdale left the band
around the time I saw them. I'm not sure if I saw a tour they did without him or not.

1. Judas Priest (White Snake) (Iron Maiden) I981 Point of Entry Tour-Pittsburgh
...My first time seeing the Priest. Also pre-Dickenson Maiden and pre-Coverdale Whitesnake.
It was in a theater and all three bands were badass. Priest blew me away and I've been a fan
ever since.
2. Kiss (New England) 1979 Dynasty Tour-Pittsburgh
...I was 13 years old and I was seeing my favorite band. They were the biggest spectacle in rock
at the time. Gene breathing fire and spitting blood. Ace shooting fireworks out of his guitar.
The drumrisers. The fire and explosions. etc.etc...Very memorable experience.
3. Pink Floyd 1987 Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour-Cleveland Munincipal Stadium
...I managed a couple pieces of paper which made this the most (visual) experience I ever had at
a concert. This was the biggest production that I have ever seen live. It would take me too long to try to describe it.
They claimed it was their biggest touring production.
4. Metallica (Suicidal Tendencies) (Fight) 1994-Burgettstown,Pa.
...Probably the overall heaviest concert that I went to. I've seen Metallica 10 times and that was their best performance.
It was Suicidal Tendencies' last hurrah and they went out with a bang. Very good live performance.
And of course, Fight. They kicked ass also. I think because of the line-up all three bands went out of their way
to see how heavy they could be. Freakin' awesome concert.
5. Black Sabbath (Pantera) 1999 Re-union Tour-Pittsburgh
...I saw them two years earlier at Ozzfest but they had a different drummer. This was the first time with the original
line-up. Ozzy didn't sound too bad, probably his last decent tour (performance wise). Any way it was a dream of mine to see these
guys and I finally got to. Pantera kicked ass also. I had front row seats to top it all off. Very memorable experience. Edited at: Wednesday, May 26, 2010 7:03:42 AM

Bud, I've decided that somebody needs to aproach you and do a documentary on you lol. You have seen way too many gigs and met way too many musos for it to go undocumented!
I can only begin to imagine the stories you could recall and tell and little notations about everyone you've met. Dude, if I lived closer I'd even write the damn book myself! lol.. for free! lol

Other than the obvious (Judas Priest), it's hard to pick a favorite. Here's a top 5.
It's based on overall experience more so than best concerts.

I started a thread on here called favorite concert experiences and why. I gave a top 5 list, check it out.
As for worst that's a little harder. I saw a band called Sad Cafe open for Rush on the Hemispheres tour that totally sucked.
Overall worst concert had to have been Saliva. They weren't (too) bad but it was a day long festival that had all suck ass
bands like Yellowcard and Saves the Day and shit like that. If you notice these bands aren't even on my list of bands
seen because I hated them so bad.

I have to update my list now. I just got back from Rock on the Range 2010 in Columbus, Ohio.
I got to check out 22 bands over two days. I saw a couple of bands that I thought would suck but
actually put on a great show. Skillet. If anyone wants to check out an interesting band live check these guys out.
I think they are a christian band (which I hate) but they were badass live. Also 5 Finger Death Punch.
I heard a couple of their songs and thought they were pussies. Wrong! One of the highlights of the show was those guys.
Very Pantera like live. Rob Zombie put on an amazing performance. Very theatrical and very heavy performance.
Lastly, Limp Bizkit. I know most here hate them and will laugh at this comment but I don't give a fuck. Awesome!
They were so fucking heavy and Wes Borland is a freaking beast on the guitar. After Rob Zombie I thought I just saw
the highlight of the festival. Wrong, Limp Bizkit killed it. The funny part was watching so many people leave before they played.
The hatred that man generates yet Limp Bizkit concerts are so heavy and so full of energy. I want to see them again so bad.
The haters will always despise Fred but if you get the chance, go see them this summer. I think some will be pleasantly
surprised.[Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by K2M from Monday, May 24, 2010 12:09:51 PM)

Yes she does. She loves metal also. The Kelli Clarkson and Alanis Morissette was for her but
but she favors the heavy stuff.

I have all my stubs(-18), and I write it down. Trust me, I couldn't remember half of that if I didn't.
Armored Saint, I just never got the chance and The Red Hot Chilipeppers, I really don't like.
There are only a handful of I wished I saw but didn't.
Van Halen w/Roth
Eric Clapton
Led Zeppelin
...and maybe a few others. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by K2M from Friday, May 21, 2010 10:46:35 AM)

And yeah, Dio was the man. Before we met him I had heard that he was an ass.
If he was he didn't show it to his fans. He seemed to be quite friendly and enjoying the moment.
One of my favorite pics. I wish I would have posted it sooner. Now it's sad to look at. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Brian_Evans from Wednesday, May 19, 2010 8:22:19 PM)

Whoops.....to be accurate, I should have said DRM = Digital Rights Management. Stupid error on my part as I deal with ripping it off most every day! HAAAAAA!! [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Friday, May 14, 2010 8:56:26 AM)

Well, complicated answer. Ion, I don't beileve, is necessarily "junk" but it is low-end, to be sure. Headbanger was hitting close when he said that iTunes was "propriatary" and transforming everything to .m4a. Yes and no. Itunes gave up DMR (propriatary) as did most majors a few years back. Yes, still .m4a but not propriatary anymore. DMR is Digital Media Rights, btw. Likewise, Windows and THEIR format, .wma, had to follow suit or be snowed under by iTunes in selling music. No one uses DMR anymore is what I am trying to say. You can easily copy iTunes to WMA (Windows) in a few clicks.
Now then, the main point is more the comment I think (scratching my head) I made with regard to ripping to either format. Some are known as "lossy." They lose audio by compression. It cuts the highs and the lows (and some midrange). Thus, the "loss." They are trying to keep the bitrate low to keep the filesize small. However, it loses fidelity. No question. Look at the bitrates in which an MP3 is often released. 128? 256? Higher number the better but also the bigger file-size. Still, lower than the original.
I believe I mentioned it before but NO real trading sites accepts such "lossy" formats. There are strict rules against it and anything you upload will be banned if you choose to do so in "lossy" format. Again, look at Halford's site. He released his free music in various formats. MP3, AAC, and a few LOSSLESS formats (WMA now has one).
Hear no difference, good. What is your sound equipment, though? Play it on headphones or a two speaker / low-end system. Fine. Play it on a 6.1 (six speaker + 1 subwoofer) and I guarantee you'll hear a difference.
Not a rant against any lossy format and I hope it is not taken as such. If you are happy, you are happy. All that matters. You are NOT getting true fidelity if you can make sense of any of the above, though. Itunes does not save in MP3, it uses a proprietory format, M4A I think. that format contains code to eliminate sharing. as to the quality, not sure. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Budred from Friday, May 14, 2010 4:56:35 AM)

Question/comment for Guido:
I mentioned I was recording my vinyl to cd. I told you that I was converting to MP3 format.
When I set the disc up I click onto audio cd. The recording converts from analog to digital.
(I'm assuming). After I record the album and insert the track titles it converts to ITunes.
This is why I said I'm recording to MP3. Does converting to ITunes make it MP3 format or
am I getting a digital copy? I've been trying to listen for flaws in the music but they sound really good.
I'm not so sure I'm making MP3 copies. Also you mentioned Ion is junk. (no problem with that).
Would that be because of the errors during recording (tracks recording twice etc...) or is it just the
quality of the recordings? It takes a long time to get through the process and I do have track errors
but the overall quality of the finished disc seems to be pretty good.

There are many I have not met. I have quite a few pictures with people I have though.
I'll start posting more of them. Let me stress, I am a nobody who only got lucky waiting by the buses.
One of the coolest things that happened to me was getting to go on Testament's tour bus to (burn) with

In honor of Willie Nelson on his 77th.
I hate country music but I love Willie Nelson. He seems to be so genuine.
I love how he speaks up for the herb (which I no longer partake in). I love
what he does for farmers (I'm from the midwest). He seems so down to earth.
I went to see him live in the hopes of meeting him afterwards. We were out by the buses with a group
of his fans. Security came out and told us unless we had a pass to be there we had to leave. About the
same time Willie came out. He told security no one had to leave. He hung out with everyone taking pictures
and signing autograpghs until he got to everyone. This from a man in his late 60's at the time.
My respect for him raised tenfold after that.
Major stress issues today. I will be appearing in court with the
outcome possibly deciding whether I will remain employed or not.
I didn't do anything at work but they frown on legal issues so here we go.
The bad thing is, this all came about from something I had absolutely
nothing to do with. Then because of my mouth(surprise) I exasperated
the issue. Not that anyone cares, but I'll let you know how it goes.
Word of wisdom _Do not motherfuck the police! Take care all.

A couple of photos of that eagle dance I mentioned the other night.
The pics aren't spectacular but check out the shadow on the ground.
When you watched the dance the silhouette looked like a soaring eagle.
It was pretty cool.
Only if you know who Poncho and Cisco were. My $ says, no.

I have some great shots of the sand dunes that are to the north of that church. Ever been? I went with my little bro and mother. You would laugh. I pulled my shirt over my head and started head-over-heels down a steep dune. Man, did I pick up speed! HAAAAA!!! Ate quite a bit of sand when I tried to stop the roll, if I remember.

On the path were bronze statues at different points called the twelve stations of the cross. One of the more moving

Regardless of the fact that you don't like religion, you can not walk in to a "really nice church" with the statues and stained glass and all, and heaven forbid you step foot into the Cistine Chapel! You would be blown away and aweshocked. A really ornate church or ancient church for some reason just offers you peace when you gaze at the walls. I'm not talking about being there during service, just going in there when it is just you and this big empty place of beauty and grace.
To sit alone in a grand or ancient church just puts you at ease. I've seen long abandoned Churches and have walked the building, (and gone places a lady should not be allowed) its facinating. To be told by someone your not allowed in the area you are standing is even funnier.
There is an island off the coast of Greece that Only men are allowed to go. It is said that Mary, Jesus's mother, was given Domain over this island because it was so beautiful. Only men can tour it (they even have passports issued for the island), there is still a monistery there, but only one woman stepped foot on it, and she was ordered back off by a vision of Mary. Believe it or not!

Oh, don't make me cry now. Never seen Seinfeld. Have you heard of a show called the Simpsons, perhaps?
You kids of today (shaking fist wildly). LOL!!! [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Vaillant 3.0 from Sunday, April 25, 2010 8:59:56 PM)

OK. To be honest, I knew Seinfeld was a show (and the name of the main character in some form...never seen it though). I was just fooling around back in that one thread. I've seen the manbearpig episode but it's been a while so there was some wild guessing involved.

It was quite cool. We also went to the Cave of the Winds and some cliff dwellings. It was cool there
because we happened to be there at the same time as some Indians from Oklahoma who were
doing Native American dances. One was called the eagle dance. When the sun was right you could
see a silhouette of an eagle on the ground below them. I'll post a pic of that tomorrow if anyone's
interested. Peace.
