Don't know how to resize the pic. But that was the view out of our room at the Falls View Marriott. I was a bit out of my league but what the hell we only stayed two nights. The breakfast for 6 people was $145.00.

Band that was playing down there on the riverfront in front of the Ren Cen next to Hart Plaza? .... Took me a bit to place them even though I knew the songs they were playing (jamming, I might add), Loverboy! HAAAA!

Finally getting around to pictures. Here is one I took just for you (and DF if he shows his furry head again), HB. Cannon in Detroit pointing right into Windsor!
Hell if those Ontario bastards are gonna swim OUR half of the river! We'll blow up the casino!

Well, a "travel" is accurate but a "vacation" to the place where you grew up? Anyhoo, it fits.
Bud, for you. The picture I asked you to take if you came to Detroit. The Metal Mecca that is Harpos! OLD school architecture to be sure. Went by it yesterday as I spent most of the day today prepping and sailing in two lightening class sailboat races around Lake St. Clair. Anyone who knows sailboats will understand it.
Nice shot of Harpos but, as I said, it sits in no-man's-land. Funny as I went for a run just before and decided not to clean up as I was going to see some friends who are mechanics in the city. So, I hope you appreciate that I took shots of this building (and surrounding area that I'll post upon request) wearing brilliant-colored running shoes / tech shirt / shorts. HA! The drunks that seem to live on the corner behind where I took this shot were staring at me like some sort of alien. Still, anything for the shot!

Thanks, all. Good to be there, good to be home. Shame that pictures can't fully capture reality like my first JP shot (I was WAY out on the highest rock after a 2mile+ hike to almost fall to my death...hey, I would have tried to throw the camera back up on the way to my watery grave! LOL!) or the beauty of hiking the volcano.
Worst part? The flight! Sitting on the tarmac for hours (total) while waiting for planes to leave our gate, no food, bag charges. etc. I flew American and found it funny that they now recognize that it takes longer to load planes as more people are bringing two carry-on bags. Brilliant observation. What the heck is going on with the aviation companies?

Maui from 100 ft down - off Lanai. Cathedral 2 dive site for those who scuba (Nitrox dive!).
To hiking the tallest point past Kihei (hightest rock as well).
Rainbow falling on a sailboat between Kihei and Lahaina (almost had accidents as EVERYONE saw it and wanted to pull off a two-laner going up a cliff to get a pic).
Hiking the volcano, Haleakala. Nice view on the 4.2 mile hike down (you can see the trail WAY below).
Who can see the roaming JP cross? Heading down to the crater / valley WAY down below the 10,000+ ft summit.
Always remember that hiking down is the easy part. After a double-tank dive the previous day, I was sucking air like crazy trying to beat the weather out of there. 4.2 miles down ISN'T 4.2 miles back up! Especially with the tradewind clouds bringing in rain rolling in very quickly.
Same shot as the beginning descent with me barely making it out from the lower clouds. The trail is still there to the right. Valley is completely in white-out conditions.
Finally, sunset at 10,000+ ft summit.
Odd phenomenon happens at the summit. Read all about it. With the sun to your back and with luck, you can see your own shadow in a rainbow! Cannot see anyone else's but your own. I stood with my legs apart and held the camera (and in the left hand my JP cross) in the other to make sure it was me. No doubt. Old Hawaiians thought it was a divine sign and vision of their soul. Amazing. A picture doesn't come close to capturing the beauty of the clouds that have now taken over the valley of the volcano.
What luck, a second rainbow formed around the first! Too bad the Priest cross was too small to be seen in the clouds below. THAT would have been a shot. Standing in the same place with both JP necklace and camera over my head with legs spread apart to make sure it was me. Incredible! Simply could not see the guy standing right next to me if I tried. Clouds are taking over the summit. Incredible.

Oh, you mean the monster squid that takes down full boats? Nope. Guess she was out to deeper waters.
VERY warm down there. Even México (I said "Costa Maya" but it was actually outside the city in "Xcalak," which was the first and last stop, had a bottom (22.4m) temp of 28C. Only got warmer from there. Beautiful indeedy.

Thanks. Good time had by me but not all. BIG puke-fest on the first dual tank dive in Costa Maya, MX. You know how it goes, one person starts and it is catchy! LOL! Huge currents as well. It was a "roll off" (as opposed to "big step") into the water and that got a few screwed up right from go. In and meet at anchor line? Yeah, more like in and meet wherever the hell the current took us!
Hey, we didn't lose anyone and fish got fed (chum) from those who cared to contribute! LOL!! I call that a success!!

She never made the kill and it ducked into the corral and hid in a heartbeat. Cool looking fish, though. Especially in full color. animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/fish/lionfish/
