sounds good. I am on the company side of our negotiations, started with a 2 day set in july, had 2 days set in september, but we fired 2 of the three barganing comitee members inbetween, and they were the ones with the most issues, so we agreed to cut the september dates to one day. next is 2 in December. hope we get somewhere, I think as of now we have either agreed or agreed to withdraw 4 of 83 uniton proposals and 1 of 4 company proposals. at this rate the deal will be done about the same time as my pension starts. Well, it's finally over with!! As most of you know I'm a union negotiator at the plant I work at. We've been in negotiations for a new contract since March and it's now a done deal!! The ratification vote was about 92% in favor of, which, to me, is vindication of the comittees hard work. In this day and age when unions are getting weaker, every contract gets harder and harder to make gains on. Fortunately, we made no concessions anywhere and made gains all across the board.
Now that this is over with, I can now come out and play a little more and Bev can quit rolling her eyes at me lol!!

Nice job! I'd love to have 11 paid holidays a year! I'd also love it much if our employer picked up more on our health insurance than they do, but our premiums would go down dramtically if we could get everyone there to participate in the insurance, but it's hard to get employees who work at lower wages to even consider health insurance. As for the vacation, I should be coming up on 3 weeks this spring myself! Now, if they could just give us sick days that weren't such a joke. lol [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by ron h from Sunday, November 07, 2010 7:42:17 AM)

Well, I must apologize for being so on and off this year. It's been a tough one for me with incredibly high highs and lower than low lows. There's been times when I've asked why, been really angry and broken down and then times where I've been lifted up, comforted and enveloped in the deepest love from members of this board, My God and the wonderful people in my life.
Life has been at a beyond hectic pace this year and not just mine, I get from a sense that all of our lives are just speeding up big time. Scares me to think we're a few weeks away from Christmas again. I haven't even had time to think of what Priestly items I want to ask Santa for ha ha ha!

Yeah, you can add ANYONE or ANYTHING that has a page! Its not a big deal, really. I mean, people can add whatever they want but it is SO painfully obvious in most cases that a band is just trying to bulk up their "friends" list. Its kind of pathetic. Nonetheless, it is what it is.
I have NO idea what "Norm" did for a living. Pretty sure guids does, though...HA!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I am pretty fussy so ....just saying. HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!! Anyway, nice to be "missed", regardless of how it is presented!!

My good friends,
I am not lost. I am not gone forever! I do want to thank a few certain members for their kind words and enthusiastic urging! I will not ignore you any longer. I apologize to those of you that truly did "miss" my presence. Those of you that are more "intimate" with me know precisely why I have limited my participation here.
All is well in our world. The band is busy with year-end shows and we have come a LONG way since I started with them back in February. In fact, we have managed to accomplish things I never dreamed we could! I have had the opportunity to play at some incredible venues. I have met some really great people and I am living a very cool life. It has not all been "roses", though. The toll it has taken on my body is indescribable and the Princess has had to endure some very difficult times. As most of you know, we are not "night" people and this new life has come with a very big price tag. I get by but barely. The Princess has made the decision to stay home most of the time, especially when we are on the road. The travel and the pace are just too much for her and I am proud that she managed to hang in there as long as she did!!
Recently, we played a charity event for the SPCA. We are playing a regular show next weekend and then we are on the "road" again. Heading norteast to Utah. My understanding is that we will have a couple radio spots and some kind of interview but, you know how things tend to change. That is especially true when you are traveling with a group of people! In any event, I understand that there is a tremendous amount of excitement in the town we are playing so it can't be all bad, right?
I think of you folks all the time. I miss you, too. I do spend a large amount of time on FB but that is (of course) to promote the band. Many of our "fans" are there and it is a good way to stay in touch with them. We have a lot of real people as fans on FB (not just other band pages and industry pages). Modern technology really has made huge changes in the music business. I hope all of you are well. I will try to be more cognizant of my responsibilities to my friends here and be "less scarce".

While we may not be able to do much as far as promotion goes. We do miss having you about, and we are "real" people here too, who have noted you being gone a long time and missed hearing from you. Of course I could go over there and talk but it's just not the same as the banter we enjoy here.
I fully appriciate your busy schedule, and I'm also very sorry the Princess is not doing well these days, as I have stated before. I understand that facebook is a means of getting to the masses and this place is not.
But, (there's always a but isn't there) We miss you like people who attend a local pub. Let's just say this place is Cheers and your our Norm. We miss you when your gone. We are not asking you to stay here and wait for things to be said, etc. We just like you taking five minutes to perhaps drop in and say hello.
We miss your wit and particular way of saying things. That's not a bad thing,..............is it? [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Deep Freeze from Sunday, October 31, 2010 11:56:16 AM)

Ok, I talked to the bus driver last night. The activities bus has 168,000 miles on it! Thats ALL!! I was shocked! So I asked what was a school bus cappable of getting in miles and he said around 500,000 would be a conservative estimate of it's abilities. But the school retires most of the buses at around six years and some of those buses will have only 65,000 miles on them because they run a short route and others may have 150,00 on them but the majority of that mileage is highway miles so, those buses are probably in better shape that the short route buses. I learned even more about buses than I wanted to after that, but the guy was happy to talk about it! LOL For instance the new buses with the Mecedes engines in them all the drivers hate those buses, too much electronics and stuff to go wrong, and does. So fear not all parents! Kids don't ride buses with high miles.

The news crew got some tape on the mom and she said her child suffered from genetic conditions and she only did this to "keep her safe". Sick woman. Hope the she gets exactly what she deserves, but then again, they don't hand that kind of punishment out in prison.

If Freeze is that "fed-up" with Judas Priest.com then its a good thing that he is not a part of it anymore. I've been here since the first day of January 2005 and I aint going anywhere.....I'll be here untill Murray locks out this forum well after Judas Priest retires thats if he decides to lock it out ect....if he doesn't then I'll be here forever. There are no words to describe how much I really fucking hate "facebook" guido,no words. Freeze "sold out" for a trendy place in facebook if you ask me hahaha! Sure I love the big fellow as we all do and we always will, but Freeze sold out haha! It reminds me of x-member "Justin Swift" as he dumped this place for facebook too....although Justin is a nice guy,he is a very trendy individual.
Guido,I too would also rather become a card carrying member of the Jonas Brother's website than to be a member on facebook...anyday! lofl!!!

I think HB would make a good Godfather of JP.com, although I doubt he would be comfortable with that said titile, and do we really need a Godfather?
JP.com is just fine the way it is.
Freeze will come around someday, when we least expect it. I am completely shocked he never dropped in. But, that is his perogative.

What? I don't even have any kids. How could I possibly take over as "el Padrino?" LOL!! In addition, my current status as General in the kmacian wars would make it look too much like a Military Dictatorship. Nah, I nominate Head Banger. He is that cool voice of reason we all need around here. Plus, he knows how many years a bus can hold up.
I am RIGHT with you about Facebook! Hell, I am looking at a receipt asking me to "Find WALMART" on freakin' Facebook! Now why the bloody hell would anyone want to find Walmart on Facebook?! Sorry, that is just absurd. I'd sooner become a card-carrying member of the Jonas Brothers website.

I have talked to 3 people whom I never would have again in my life from that site, because I don't put my maiden name out there. I talked to them, and then I never heard much from them again. I don't like the site much, but it is interesting the people who contact you for seemingly no reason. There's one I remember that went something along like this: "...our troops need all the help they can get. Post this as your status if you think so. If not, then you're better off being the receiving end of a soldier's bullet". Something along those lines. My first reaction was, "Damn, woman (or man)!! Don't get so violent!" Anyone my age and below in the US cant reach full retirement until the age of 70 now, 40 hour work weeks are the norm if not more overtime, and Vacation time in most cases is cut at two weeks, half of us do not get sick leave, so many of us don't get company funded healthcare, and these people are crying over 2 years added to their retirement??!!!!

It actually starts to make pension ages a little irrelevent, our generation will go from paying off our own debts to paying off our childrens (degree fees will be so high there is no earthly way they will be able to pay their own), so we will probably be working right up until they cart us straight from desk to nursing home.

Riots in France for a week all because the government is going to raise retirement from 60 to 62. WTF!! They are allready spoiled enough. One month of Vacation time plus those additional National holidays, 35 hour mandated work weeks. They cry because they have to work two more years?
Anyone my age and below in the US cant reach full retirement until the age of 70 now, 40 hour work weeks are the norm if not more overtime, and Vacation time in most cases is cut at two weeks, half of us do not get sick leave, so many of us don't get company funded healthcare, and these people are crying over 2 years added to their retirement??!!!!

I just hope Flora's local high school stays open long enough for her to graduate. If not, then I will be forced to drive her to school each day to Bland High and that would really mess up my routine. Her bus stop is not safe. She would have to stand on the main road through our little town which is just a 20 foot turn from the interstate, and she would be the only child standing at that stop. NOT going to happen.

It's the name of the county. Bland. Great right? HA!!!
I would be happy to have her finish out her days as a Rocky Gap High girl. And no,..... I wouldn't leave a stray dog at the site the school has designated as her "bus stop". We live on a dead end road so they considered it too difficult for the bus to turn around in this area, although if they got rid of the 18 wheeler who parks there 5 days out of 7 the bus could do a loopty on her stop and pick her up at her home.

My question is mundane (and completely unrelated to the beginning of this post), but I want to know: What is the maximum mileage for a school bus without completely replacing the engine???? Only thoughts like this occur to you while driving for a long time, and happening to pass a few "reassigned" school buses.
Vail, good for you going to see Halford!
Becks, I hope Metallica brings their "real" Metal to the show.

Actually that bus works daily. Since the sports teams have been combined to a county wide senario since they don't have enough kids in the county for each school to have their own sports teams. So, the bus does get a workout. But I suppose highway miles are way better.
[Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Head banger from Sunday, October 17, 2010 11:06:44 AM)

long drives cause less wear and tear than a regular route, picking up and droping kids off is hard work on the bus, lots of stop and start. plus they probably dont have a field trip daily.

Now, for most people, that explanation would be enough. But, sadly, no for me. Flora told me yesterday that her bus driver Flo (believe or not) had to retire her bus last year. It did not leave the school though because it is now the "Activity Bus". Now, this bus was deemed unfit for regular routes but is now the "activity bus"?? This bus now travels up to 3 hours one way in it's duty. So, I am really curious to know how many miles are on it.
Well, I guess I'll just have to ask Flo how many miles the bus had on it when it was retired from "regular" service. Better yet! I'll get Flora to ask her!

Now, at what point of that mileage to you think they retire the bus from school duty and leave it to slug it way out on church and civic duties?

would depend on the engine, and if it was used for city or country work, but I would guess a gas engine would be good for 300,000 miles, Diesel 500,000

Other oldies they played included Seek and Destroy, One, And Justice for All, Master of Puppets. The special effects they had were excellent - my friend and I were a fair way back in the seated area (with a good view) and could feel the heat coming off the flames they had occasionally. There was heaps of lasers and other nifty stuff, and coffin shaped lighting rigs that moved around. Plenty of idiots at the gig too, and plenty of people who were there just cos it was Metallica. Reason I could tell this with one dude is as follows - as anyone who has been a 'proper' fan of Metallica would know, the Bay Area thing pops up often. One of the t-shirts at the merch cart had Bay Area on it. A young dude (maybe 17?) was standing next to me and said 'Ba area??? What's that? I don't think it's Bat Area??' then someone finally explained to him it was Bay Area. Hmmm, lol. Anyways, the gig was great, the best bits involved the oldies, but overall it was worth the money and I am glad I went. Seen as Craig missed out I bought him a tour shirt and posted it to him

Ha! I'd have to see it for myself...maybe the next time they come around and have a concert in NorCal I'll go see them.
Oh! And speaking of concert, guess what arrived in the mail...my ticket to see Halford in Anaheim!!!

Yeah it's definitely I'd say the most well known Metallica song, I like it too. Tell you what, Lars is a madman on his drums LOL he's like an energetic midget person hehe.

That's probably the most popular Metal song out there. Hell, before hearing about Judas Priest I knew about Enter Sandman for a while. It's a good tune. I probably would have cheered for The Four Horsemen or Whiplash, if they played those at all.
Becks wrote:
Haha possibly! Enter Sandman got the biggest cheer I believe. I yelled out first and loudest for Master of Puppets.

Dang...and all this time I thought they were from SoCal. Good to know!
That guy must have been either a noob or just a casual fan. Maybe before that concert the only song he knew from Metallica was Enter Sandman. HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Becks wrote:
Yep they're from the Bay Area - there was a well known bootleg EP out called Bay Area Thrashers, with recordings from when Dave Mustaine was still in the band. I only said 'proper' fan cos I couldn't think of how I wanted to put what I meant, LOL!!!

"Bay Area"?? I thought they were from L.A!
Huh...interesting...unless they did something overthere I've never heard before. Other than that, cool review!

It was, LOG was average, I don't like the way the signer does his thing LOL all that growly can't really tell what he's saying stuff.
So here's a mini review of Metallica finally, after a busy few days lol! They opened with two tracks from Death Magnetic, which were pretty good, but for me the highlight was For Whom the Bell Tolls.

Yikes! Sucks being short, doesn't it? I'll survive somehow. Maybe if I just get in line extra extra early so that I can lock myself to the barricade in the front. Although then there's the risk of being crushed, too. Ah, the risks of going to a concert.
Becks wrote:
Oh man hope you don't! I almost got squashed big time at AC/DC, not cool!

I will post a review for sure...if I don't get trampled to death in the GA area.
Becks wrote:
Hmm yeah that will be interesting. I look forward to your review of the show!

Yes!!!! Only weird thing will be not seeing the rest of Judas Priest. No Glenn, Ian, Scottie, KK. It'll be interesting to see see how the Metal God performs with his solo band compared to Judas Priest.
Becks wrote:
Oh man I bet you're excited! You'll have a blast I bet!

Hell yeah!!! First Halford concert EVER!!
